Erin’s journey from being a dedicated nurse to becoming entangled in a toxic, deceitful relationship with Dr. James Brennan is heartbreaking and eye-opening. The way the author delves into Erin's emotional struggles and the choices she faces is compelling—you're right there with her, feeling her confusion, pain, and determination to break free. I also love how the book is filled with wisdom and faith, offering both a cautionary tale and a message of hope. The suspense and romance elements keep the story gripping, while Erin's resilience and search for justice make it an empowering read.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 20, 2022What a magnificently powerful story in She refused to be His Other Woman by Crystal Mary Lindsey. I am a big fan of this author! This is a grand story that has a lot of sub plots, including deception and manipulation, and a real-life feel of domestic violence. I am very fond of this author's work, and this story just hits all the notes of suspense, romance, and even forbidden love and the sense of not knowing who to trust. Erin may have had obstacles in her life, and was a dedicated nurse, and we thank her for that, but she was strong, even if she didn't know it. It is not stupidity to be manipulated or deceived, or because the wrong person was trusted. We can't always help who we fall in love with, but we can do what is right for ourselves, even if it is forcing ourselves to fall out of love (if possible). Heartbreak doesn't have an expiration date, and neither does physical and emotional pain. It’s one of those embraceable stories. It’s definitely un-put-downable! A definite attention grabber, so much I couldn't put it down. The thrills and intrigue is written clearly, and the characterizations are engrossing. I just love, love, love this story. Simply awe-inspiring. Every woman, no, everyone should read this book. It's so close to real-life, it may be able to help others in similar situations. She refused to be His Other Woman is a definite recommendation by Amy's Bookshelf Reviews. I look forward to reading many more books by this author.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 24, 2024“She Refused to be the Other Woman” is a novel about a young nurse named Erin who falls for a manipulative married doctor. When she is traumatized by his deceitful behavior, she must learn to love and trust again. I enjoyed the Melbourne and Kakadu National Park settings. I also liked the hospital environment, as it was clear that the author worked in the medical industry. This was a fast-paced, professional, enjoyable read for me! I especially liked that the protagonist was supported by her parents, her friend, Joy, and her faith.
I look forward to reading more of the novels by Crystal Mary Lindsey!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 24, 2022The story is one of youth, trust, and betrayal; a lesson more than a few have learned the hard way. Erin is no exception, but how she handles it is what makes her different from most.
The author has written a story of heartbreak, but also one showing God's love and redemption and how God opens doors when things seem dark and impossible. God led Erin to people who would understand her plight and not judge her.
It's a heartwarming and inspirational tale with well-developed characters that you will fall in love with. I'm hoping for a continuation of the story as it ended too soon for me. Highly recommended.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 13, 2025This book was heartfelt. She Refused to Be The Other Woman offers a wholesome and faith-based perspective that’s both inspiring and empowering. Told through a Christian worldview, it beautifully weaves personal strength, spiritual beliefs, and emotional healing into a story that feels both relatable and redemptive.
The book educates on narcissistic abuse without losing its grace or compassion. It sheds light on emotional manipulation and toxic relationship dynamics in a way that is accessible, clear, and accurate. For anyone struggling to understand their worth in the face of betrayal or emotional abuse, this book is a balm.
It’s not just a story of refusing to be the "other woman"—it’s a story of reclaiming identity, standing in faith, and choosing dignity over dysfunction. A must-read for anyone navigating the aftermath of narcissistic relationships, especially those looking for wisdom grounded in faith and emotional clarity.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 5, 2022First, I enjoyed the virtual visit to Australia, its people, the scenery and feeling the author gave me of being there, on the spot. The story is fast-paced and hard to put down. This author knows how to keep the reader's attention.
Story: Erin has no experience with the wiles of a charming, controlling man. As a nurse she falls for Dr. Brennan's charisma, charm, and winning personality, never suspecting his dark secret. By the time she learns the truth, she is already trapped into a threatening and unhealthy relationship.
Thankfully, Erin's father is a Barrister. He has the man arrested and sent to a mental health facility. Erin finds a job in another area and moves away to stay safe. She has loyal and sympathetic friends who are always there for her.
But will this be enough? Will the devious doctor search until he finds her? Is Erin safe? Find out when you read, "She Refused To Be The Other Woman."
