- Reviewed in the United States on April 20, 2019I read several books by this author before, so picked up the Initiation with great expectation. Werewolves are my favorite among the shapeshifters, but the very first pages of reading had me rooting for Bleu and forgetting about shape-shifting altogether for a time. It was so sweet and realistic, his developing feelings for Grey, his way of doing nothing about it. He is such a sweet naive introvert, so deep and observant, as opposed to flamboyant Grey, his friend from the very first days of his existence but apparently much more than this. I loved how the sexual tension was building from the very first pages, when they studied for final exams, how unabashed and matter-of-fact was Grey as opposed to the shy deep-thinker Bleu. My heart was with him at all times as the story progressed, afraid of his getting hurt and yet wishing him to get what he desired most - a reflection on Bleu's own feelings. I think it was amazing how the author put me as a reader right there, in the middle of the action and this confusing turmoil of emotions. I can't wait for the second book to come out!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 16, 2019This is a short but emotional roller coaster in this gay romance. The author did an incredible job of portraying Bleu’s feeling for Grey as they interacted from childhood into manhood. After their first encounter, like Bleu, I thought they had a love match, much as it was heavily weighted in Grey’s favor. When Grey decides to pick Bleu to serve him on a momentous in his life, I couldn’t help rooting for Bleu. The author increased the tension, taking the reader on a voyage of discovery. Great short!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 16, 2019Great story. Waiting for book 2.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 11, 2019I thought this story was interesting when I read the blurb but when I got it I was disappointed. The story was rushed so much it was too underdeveloped. It could of been great. Don't bother reading.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 12, 2019Grey and Bleu had been best friends for their whole lives – living in close proximity to each other and always doing everything together. Bleu knew Grey was quite arrogant and took Bleu for granted, but it didn’t change his feelings for Grey. Even though Bleu knew Grey wasn’t interested in him, the two men remain in each others lives, until one passionate afternoon changes everything between them.
I found this to be an interesting and at times bittersweet story. Grey is a difficult character – complicated and layered. He was hard for me to grasp at times. I was really pleased the author showed a few of the sections from Grey’s perspective as this really helped me work out where Grey was coming from and understand that he wasn’t quite how he portrayed himself to others. I really empathized at times with Bleu, especially in his longing for Grey and how Grey seemed to treat him so poorly in return. While I was glad there was a solid explanation behind it I never really felt fully on board with how Grey treated Bleu in the past before they deepened their relationship.
I’ve not read many werewolf and omega style stories so the world and paranormal settings came across to me as fresh and interesting. I thought the author did a good job balancing the world information-dumping and progress of Grey and Bleu’s emotional and romantic relationship. Grey’s mean behavior aside I thought the plot moved forward fast enough to retain the reader’s interest but slow enough it never felt like the two men were just racing directly for the bedroom with no connection between them
The final sex scene is fairly intense and while it’s certainly erotic and thrilling I’m not sure it will be every reader’s cup of tea. The binding/knotting ritualistic side to Grey and Bleu’s new romance was certainly eye-opening for me and quite a different reading experience.
Sexy and very descriptive, I found this to be an intense short story. I enjoyed the world building and came to appreciate the differences in the two main characters.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 17, 2019I love this book. There are so many shifter stories out there, but this one is different. The Alpha - omega dynamic between the two hero’s is amazing.
Blue has been longing for Grey all his life. I could absolutely feel his emotion and I wanted to smack Grey and tell him to wake up and stop being such a jerk. I can’t wait for book 2.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 16, 2019Good start to a new series. Grey is Bleu’s first love, his only love, but Grey thinks he deserves better. When fate brings them together again, Bleu is afraid of getting hurt. Can these two make it work? No spoilers here. Great characters and a new twist on shape shifters. I can’t wait for book two.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 8, 2019Short story but good character development, I felt for Bleu for the unrequited love he had for Gray . Interesting take on the Alpha/Omega dynamic can't wait for part two.
