3.6 out of 5 stars 42 ratings

The temperature in Thailand is a humid ninety degrees but things are about to get a lot hotter for Philadelphia lawyer David Elliot.

Thailand is a hedonist’s paradise but David isn’t interested in the sinful pleasures Bangkok has to offer. His only concern is taking care of business so he can return home and patch things up with his ex. Then on his first night in town David meets Kai, and the younger man turns his world upside down. Kai is close-lipped, and David knows he's hiding something, but Kai brings a joie de vivre into David’s life that’s long been missing. Then after a few blissful weeks, Kai disappears and David is hurt. He knows this was never meant to be anything more than a pleasant diversion, but now that it's over can he walk away without looking back?

One Night in Bangkok by Gale Stanley is a romance about international attorney David Elliot and his forbidden love with the exotic Kai.

Stinging from a recent breakup with his boss Bernard, David has made an extended business trip to the oft-visited Thailand to settle the sale of a Bangkok hotel. Plunging into work has always been his escape, and this trip is a soothing balm to his disappointed heart. He is definitely not looking for romance on this visit. He distrusts the male prostitutes and shies away from the risks of casual intimate encounters.

David then experiences the unmistakable butterflies in his gut with his first glimpse of the handsome Kai. The attorney is waiting to meet a client, so David can do little more than introduce himself to this mesmerizing creature and arrange for a meeting the next day. What follows is an intriguing friendship with Kai, a man with a past that forbids him from following his heart.

One Night in Bangkok is a clever seduction dance in the sweaty heat of a mysterious city. The inner conflict in the intelligent and levelheaded David was heart wrenching at times. I felt his puzzlement at Kai’s elusive behavior as a physical pang. The romantic scenes between them were hot, but also bittersweet. Gale Stanley had a deft hand in drawing Bernard and the Thailand characters. The descriptions were wonderful—I could almost taste the food and smell the muggy stink of the city.

Readers who enjoy immersive settings, a sparkling storyline, and same sex romance would enjoy One Night in Bangkok.

When I read a romance I like a mix of angst, passion, and love. This story has all those elements, plus two memorable characters. I could feel David’s betrayal and Kai’s unhappiness, and I wanted to see them resolve the obstacles keeping them apart. Their story played out like a good film against the exotic background of Bangkok. This was the first book I have read by this author, but I will definitely be looking for others.

Wow. Well written romance. Intriguing storyline and characters to get excited about. One Night in Bangkok by Gale Stanley was a real surprise find. It’s also steamy, but has authentic erotic moments and a plot that made me read on later than I normally would have. Exhilarating read. I can’t wait to get more by this author. Recommended and five stars.

This was a sweet, endearing story and I love both Kai and David.

David the lawyer works too hard...until he meets Kai and realizes life is more than work.

Loved it!! I read it just before bed for sweet dreams!

'One night in Bangkok' is a continuation of Gale Stanley's series of books themed on gay erotica. In this particular genre Stanley shows he is the equal of his peers. 'One Night in Bangkok' is both seamy and steamy. For anyone seeking stimulation offered by gay erotica then 'One night in Bangkok' is a must read.

I absolutely loved this book. It was the first I had read by this author, but it was so well written it certainly won’t be the last.
The story revolves around American lawyer David Elliot, who is making a business trip to Thailand to secure the purchase of a group of hotels for his boss, who had also become his ex the day before his trip.
Even though David knew the relationship wasn’t the undying love type, he still would have liked to stay and work it out, he had always been that type of guy.
He wasn’t interested in the seedier end of what Bangkok had to offer, and had never taken the time to really look at the country he had travelled to many times on business. But a chance meeting with Kai, a young Thai man he meets in his hotel, begins to change his view of the country, and of what he wants from life and love.
But David knows that Kai is keeping secrets, and is torn over what his next steps should be.
Gale paints a picture with words, that transports you away to the heat and sights of the busy Asian city.
I fell in love with David as a character, even though I wished he would loosen up a little and stop choosing the safer option. Do I get my wish?
I won’t give any spoilers away, but I have to say don’t pass this one up. I have never read any gay romance or erotica before, but the scenes between Kai and David were beautifully hot, yet tastefully done.
I will definitely be one clicking more from this author.
