4.0 out of 5 stars 34 ratings

[Siren Classic ManLove: Erotic Alternative Sci-Fi Romance, M/M, shape-shifters, public exhibition, HEA] Loki is a cougar-shifter, a product of mix and match genetics. He was born in a secret military complex where a mad scientist splices animal DNA with human. When a gas explosion levels the lab, a number of hybrids escape, creating a dangerous situation for humans. The Secretary of Defense decides to stop funding Dr. Shepard's research. Shepard needs money, and he reveals his new technology, a neurochip that will prevent shape-shifting. But the Secretary wants proof that hybrids will be able to function like humans in the outside world. When Loki is targeted by one of the guards, Shepard decides to use him as a test subject. He implants a chip, and sends Loki home with Captain Thomas Sawyer. Loki knows his best chance of escape is to get closer to the captain, but the plan backfires when he finds himself falling for his new master. ** A Siren Erotic Romance

Gee, where to start? Yes, the writing was great and beautifully edited, something you don't always get. But it's about the story. It's wonderful!!

I'm not a big fan of man love, ouch! But I am an animal nut. And that 's the part of me that the story captivated. Shifters are a hot item, especially after we got to know Sam, on True Blood. I felt the mystery, the romance, the seduction... And I don't mean sexual. It was the STORY that suduced me with Luki's raw feelings. What more can I ask for? I will read anything but it isn't often that I really FEEL the story. It's a wonderful day for me when that happens.

This author is going on my follow list. I can't afford to lose track of her books.

I sincerely hope you enjoy the story as much as I did.

There is a lot to this book – military, science fiction, erotic, paranormal and more! Loki [Hybrids 3] by Gale Stanley is a super fun read. She makes it all work and the story carries you along for a wild ride. I especially like how natural her dialogue seems, even in some far-out situations. Enjoy this one – recommended, five stars.

I loved the concept of the story as well the wonderful characters ; rebellious Loki, good-hearted Tom and the throughly enchanting Fuzzy. Even the bad guy was engaging. My only wish was that it had been longer. Oh well.

Ever since some dodgy oysters in Poonah in '43 or '44 I have tended to do things backwards. Underwear? On backwards. Rags to riches? I did it backwards. So it is with this series, and now, having read Loki, I need to catch up on the others of the Hybrids series.

This is a seriously, seriously great read and being a shape-shifter myself I could empathise with the characters. My shape-shifting is slower than theirs of course, and thus far has been limited to changing from the lean, mean, six-pack bedecked loving machine of my youthful years to the whiskery ball of buttery one-pack goodness that you see before you today.

The writing is tight, the pace of the action just right and let's face it, despite what every Court Martial board told me while I was in the Army, it's ruddy refreshin' to see some chap on chap romance handled properly. The cover alone solicits five stars. Soliciting - that was another word the Courts Martial used to bandy about a lot too. Excuse me while I slip into something more comfortable (id est nostalgia) and toddle off to buy the others in the series.

Buy the book, you won't regret it.

I was hooked with the first book in this series, and couldn't wait to see what happened next—especially to Loki. So I was really excited to see that book three was Loki’s story. He’s a cougar shifter, and different than the others because he never escaped the lab where he was raised, and he thought he’d never have a chance to be free. His pain and bitterness felt so real, I was rooting for him all the way. Each book has been about a different type of shifter. Loki is definitely my favorite of the three so far, but I’m anxious to see whose story we get next.

I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review. I was hesitant at first, but once I got to know Loki, I understood that this book -- and the Gale Stanley's series -- goes beyond the basic 'shape-shifter' category. Each book of this series presents a new type of shape-shifter. Loki, a cougar-shifter, is briefly introduced in the first book, but comes out as a more fleshed out character in this one. His human side becomes more pronounced after he escapes from the mad scientist's lab and is confronted with his feelings of love. Did the scientist mix up the formula and put in more human elements than cougar? You'll have to buy the book to find out. You'll find a strong statement on the dangers of genetic manipulation as well as a terrific read.

This is a great addition to the series. Adam, book one was about a wolf shifter. This story focuses on Loki, a cougar shifter. Loki is the result of genetic experiments. He’s a prisoner in a military lab where he’s beaten and mistreated. Then he’s sent to live with an army captain where he’s shown the first kindness in his life. Loki thinks he can use sex to gain more freedom, but the plan backfires when he develops real feelings for Captain Thomas Sawyer. Of course there’s a lot of obstacles for these two, but I loved seeing the connection grow between two men who are so different. I’m hooked. Can’t wait for book four.

Shifters are hot. Gale Stanley writes hot books. This was a natural combination as opposed to genetic splicing that created the hybrids, part man, part cougar. Most people assume ManLove books are short on romance, but this one isn't. Instead of thinking about what the book might be, read and find out what it really is. Loki was always the bad, but incredibly sexy, brother in Thor's world this carries over into the hybrids too.
