    Have you ever doubted yourself and your abilities? Do you find yourself always trying to please others instead of yourself? Do you struggle with negative self-talk such as “I can’t” do X? If so, then you have come to the right place. As women, we face challenges and obstacles that can limit our potential and prevent us from being happy. While reading this book, I found myself guilty of many self-sabotaging behaviors, never really stopping to think how they hold me back in my career, relationships, and personal life. The authors show how WE harness the power to change our negative thinking, not let fear consume us, and remove self-barriers to success and happiness. The authors clearly define what self-sabotage means, offering real-world examples and insights from women just like you and me. While a quick read, Self Sabotage is the perfect size to come back to for easy reference, with each chapter centered around a specific self-sabotaging behavior and a call to action.     I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Ryder as a doctoral student and conducted a study with female assistant superintendents and how self-sabotaging behaviors affected their career paths. All of the personal power tips in "Self-Sabotage: Ten Personal Power Tips to Be Your Best Self on a Good Day" hit the nail on the head. A few of my personal favorites include:

    This short, easy-to-read, positive book should be owned by or given to every female, young and old alike. Dr. Marilou Ryder and Jessica Thompson give tips to believe in oneself and advice to achieve confidence. I read this book in an hour and I loved how it reminded me to focus on my successes rather than failures. As women, we can be so hard on ourselves. This book helps, with actual tips, to pat ourselves on the back and do away with self-doubt. I appreciated the facts throughout the book with reasons we should be supportive of one another and appreciate our talents. Everyone can use some positivity in a life that can be difficult professionally and personally. The words made me smile and I'll be sure to pass it along to someone I love.

    Need a quick pick me up to remind yourself of just how great you are - look no further! This book provides readers with 10 personal power tips to help you be your best self on a good day that one can immediately put into practice. As a high school teacher, it was a great reminder of the power of my words, especially for my female students. I picked this book up from a recommendation of a friend, and I will be gifting it to the girls & women in my life in order to create and maintain positive girl power!
