- Reviewed in the United States on June 23, 2022Have you ever doubted yourself and your abilities? Do you find yourself always trying to please others instead of yourself? Do you struggle with negative self-talk such as “I can’t” do X? If so, then you have come to the right place. As women, we face challenges and obstacles that can limit our potential and prevent us from being happy. While reading this book, I found myself guilty of many self-sabotaging behaviors, never really stopping to think how they hold me back in my career, relationships, and personal life. The authors show how WE harness the power to change our negative thinking, not let fear consume us, and remove self-barriers to success and happiness. The authors clearly define what self-sabotage means, offering real-world examples and insights from women just like you and me. While a quick read, Self Sabotage is the perfect size to come back to for easy reference, with each chapter centered around a specific self-sabotaging behavior and a call to action. The info graphics sprinkled throughout in addition to the power tips are the perfect size to rip out and display at your desk or home, while the self-sabotage checklist is a great way to hold yourself accountable. Share this with your friends, daughters, and women in your life. Let them know that they are not alone and that they too hold the power to be strong, confident women!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 11, 2022Self-SABOTAGE: TEN PERSONAL TIPS TO BE YOUR BEST SELF ON A GOOD DAY is an easy to read, follow and convenient to carry (I love the small square shape which fits in my purse) book brilliantly written by sister authors, Dr. Ryder and Ms. Thompson. The sections guide readers to first identify their self-sabotaging behavior and offer ten tips to overcome roadblocks and manage each behavior. Each of the ten tip sections ends with a “Show Your Worth” checklist providing “call to action” suggestions. This book is appropriate for women of all ages and provides relatable scenarios that many women have uncounted and yet continue to exhibit the same behaviors because they may not know how to or feel comfortable using their voice.
I absolutely love the gentle approach of the reminder quotes which can become daily affirmations. One of my favorite quotes from the book is on page 51, “Being nice doesn’t mean self-sacrifice” and is one that I have chosen to honor. We always have choices, but we don’t always make them, and most often take what’s given to us without honoring our needs and desires.
So, what do you choose to do today? What is your next step in finding and using your voice? This remarkable book of tips for women, written by two women, can be your next step. Happy reading
