Daria M. Loshlin is a happily married mother of two. She was born and raised in a small southern town. She loves to travel and experience everything the world offers. Her favorite days are cloud-covered and drizzling rain. She finds the somber days the most inspiring to write her forbidden tales of tortured romances. She loves Edgar Allan Poe and finds honesty in his work inspiring; however, doesn't discount the works of all the classical greats. She's inspired by the macabre & the beautiful. On the days she isn't writing, she is terrorizing her husband with her horrific dance moves and silly facial expressions. Actually...she does that even while writing. She thrives and survives on caffeine.

Holy emotions!
Holy smokes! Daria's debut novel packs a punch of emotions! This was a well worth the wait Novel! This review will be a hard one to write leaving spoilers out. The emotions, the heartbreak, the love, the Lies, the secrets, just all of it will keep you on your toes trying to piece it all together. It will make you not trust the happy moments, cringe at other moments, make you want to cry, and so much more. This is a must read for anyone that has little to no triggers as there is mention of drugs/alcohol, abuse, and loss.

The author wrote about two hearts doomed and desperate to return to one another. The words swept me off my feet but also broke me. The pages sometimes were so beautiful, but haunted. I couldn’t trust that the good times were going to last and that’s what angst is all about, that bitterness, that pain, it makes them love harder.

One who remembers everything, it makes every memory more intense. Hayes carries the burden of his past while Georgie has nightmares that she can’t make sense of …yet.

Money, family connections, lies, drugs, young love, and death. It’s a web of deceit. Georgie and Hayes are both enduring pain, however their actions are different from one another.

Hayes is drowning himself. He sleeps around but no one comes close to when he had Georgie. He uses his fist to work out his aggression when he isn’t on the football field or on his bike. He has only loved Georgie. He wanted her to see beyond his front.

Georgie, is tough and vulnerable. One minute she is telling someone off, and then at the end of the night she is crying. I love that she was more than one emotion. She is drowning herself too. Her silence is slowing killing her, and some people need to pay for what they have brought on and took away from Georgie and Hayes.

The author wins your heart with memories of the past. She writes romantically and then rips it apart. I liked that she would write the scene by making us feel first. So at first you didn’t know what was going on. Wether Georgie felt heat warm her from getting spanked, licked, or 🥵😉, or when she seriously was in trouble. The author would describe first what Georgie was feeling, her scalp, her hair falling, or tears, and then we realized what was going on. I loved being immersed into the scenes that way.

A meeting, a grab in an alley way, an encounter that felt so right, but doomed. A kiss and firsts, heart break, betrayal, and yet they are the only ones that can love one another so spiritually, so beyond, that long after their love bites heal, they can still feel the sting. They are ready to keep their promises.

Please I need the next book!!

This was an amazing debut from Daria, the cover and blurb caught my attention right away. The push and pull from the two main characters created a dynamic that made you crave wanting more. You wanted them to end it all, just to have the perfect rekindling.

I love Daria's writing style, the characters are younger which can sometimes lead me astray (my personal opinion) but her writing was so elegant and profound I was enthralled that much more in their young dynamic. Twist, turns, plot twists... deceit and betrayals... oh my! This story has it all.

But for me, it was that ending. I won't say anything else, you need to read it. CANNOT wait for Book 2

Wow! My friend Shelly recommended this book, saying that I needed to read it. What she didn’t say was, I wasn’t going to be able to put it down! Probably one of the best books I’ve read in awhile, and I read a lot! This book has everything a true dark romance novel needs! I truly hope the author finishes this series!

Secrets, lies, childhood trauma, and a darker Shakespeare feel to the storyline.

I don't know if I can do this book justice, but I will give it a try. This is story has a dark Shakespearean feel to it. This world the author gives you revolves around four interconnected families with secrets and lies that have trickled down to affect their children now. If your looking for a book that pulls you in with shifting parts of the past and present with a series of lies to be uncovered, then look no further because you just found it and this is a completely unique experience. You will see a lot of characters brought into this storyline and the author does an amazing job of making want to know each of them more. Beware there is a cliffhanger and a little wait before the next book. So not all the lies and secrets are discovered but a huge chunk will be opened up.

Hayes, was a character you found you could love to hate but as the story progresses you see him in a whole new light. One thing you never truly see him waver on is his love for Georgie Clare, his best friend and enemy by design. Hayes lost his father and his best friend one frightful night, his world never seems to fully get pieced back together. He is domineering, possessive, dark tendencies, and has the antihero vibe going on. His chemistry with Georgie is intense, hot, and undeniable that this book has some seriously melt your kindle moments. This guy will find you wanting to fix his broken pieces just as much as you want to smack him at times.

Georgie/Georgiana, was a fighter of a character. She endures many battles as a child to her teen years and not once does she waver on her ability to save someone else before herself. She has been fed lies and made to stay away from Hayes, but she feels a unknowingly pull to him and their connection is something she can't deny but can't explain. This girl broke my heart at times but she never gives up and this is why I absolutely loved her character even with her flaws. You will find yourself hoping she can make sense of all the information she finds herself questioning what is true and what is a lie, and who to trust with her own secrets.

So yes this book has a ton of moving pieces as you follow along and see little truths bled out along the way. Prepare for dark themes and twists along the way, because this story isn't just a mystery or love story in the making it's something so much more and takes you into this depraved and overbearing world that these teens live in and try their best to navigate everything thrown at them.

I voluntarily signed up for an ARC for this book with nothing gain other than giving my honest opinion/review. So definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a unique twist on a love story with secrets, and lies, and tragedy that will follow.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tragically Poetic
Reviewed in Canada on May 12, 2022
The truth of Hayes and Georgie’s story unfolds slowly, but not before leading the reader through twists and turns designed to squeeze your heart. Their story is traumatic and difficult. There is little reprieve from the darkness save for Loshlin’s poetic writing style, which wrapped around my brain like the sweetest of lovers, both soothing and stimulating. At many points in the story I found myself lost in her words, and by the end I was fully invested in Hayes and Georgie’s outcome, which we must wait for until the next book.

What a true incredibly beautiful read!! I stayed up till 5am this morning reading it, I just couldn’t put it down!
So wonderfully written, so different and just perfection!!

Our two leads are Hayes and Georgie, they are beautiful, cute, oh so broken and feisty as hell. The banter is so fun, the chemistry is HOT and the secrets are are dangerous. They have a trouble past together, one of who can’t remember it and the other who will never be able to forget it!

Hayes is the hot alpha.. you will love to hate and love to love, you will definitely have moments where you want to strangle him but you if like me won’t be able to help but love him. He is so lost in the past and the girl of his dreams - he is becoming her nightmare and doesn’t know how to stop himself. His way with words blows me other.

Georgie is fiery as hell, beautiful, strong and so caring not that she lets everyone see it. She is trapped in a world filled with unanswered questions, secrets, hatred from her father who she isn’t keen for either and her walking talking handsome nightmare. She is a fighter, full of sass and so passionate.

I am so in love with this book, Hayes and Georgie!!

You would absolutely never know, it is the author’s debut novel. Written so gorgeously with somewhat of a Shakespearian feel to it, it blow me away.
You will get no spoilers from me but I cannot recommend this book more! Love, drama, darkness, steamy-steaminess, banter and so much more!

I can’t wait for the second!!!
