About the author

I was born in 1949. I grew up a child of the cold war in northern New Jersey. I practiced ducking and covering under my desks during air raid drills. I viewed death for the first time when I was 13, my camp counselor died in front of me. I realized that there are very few fairly tales in the real world. I learned preparing from by father. I've lived all over the country and have had the chance to travel the world. I write politically incorrect stories, usually told from the eyes of common people who get caught up in events when the world spins out of control around them. None of my stories have neighborhoods full of special forces troops, none have the cavalry riding over the hill to save everyone. Many of my stories have a dark side, there is violence and foul language because I think this makes the story more realistic Many of my stories don't have happy endings because I think when the SHTF most people's stories aren't going to end well. My spelling and grammar aren't always the best. However, I think you'll like the stories.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 4, 2013Although related to the author, I was very pleasantly surprised at the story line, pacing and unique view of a world gone mad.
Would you be able to survive in a world turned upside down? Nuclear bombs planted in NY and Washington DC destroy life as we know it. How far would you walk to find and protect your loved ones... Despite the backdrop of armeggeden, this is basically an adventure story with a healthy mix of love, faith and resourcefulness... Championed by a 63 year old Nebbish turned "Rambo"!
Enjoyable read that moves along quickly and forces one to confront the possibilities that can become reality in an instant.
Can't wait for book two
- Reviewed in the United States on February 19, 2014I liked this and really got into it. BUT - it was too long and the author mentioned EVERYTHING. A lot of stuff should have been left out. Along about the middle I began scanning/skipping pages I felt had nothing to interest me.
However, it was good enough for me to purchase the sequel. Am now reading it and find the same problems, although I'm not skipping quite as many pages. So far, both books would be better if they were about a third shorter.
Am still looking forward to the third book and wonder when it will be out.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 30, 2016The journey of those 37 miles builds with a suspense and actions along the way which keep the reader intrigued. Knowing the geographic area in which the story takes place makes it come alive to me even more. The concept behind the story is all too real and the dedication of the protagonist to reach his wife despite the ever increasing odds of failure provide a great read.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 25, 2014I wish the author had spent a bit more time editing the text. The casual interchanging of "their" and "they're" for example, had me grinding my teeth.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 24, 2014This was really a good book. You will learn a lot about survival. It teaches you to think and that you don't have to be 25 years Old and in great shape to help others and accomplish good things. It teaches us about a world that we really don't want to see. It teaches us about politicians that don't love America or Americans and what could happen. Just know that Jay is the man. Read and enjoy!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 9, 2014I feel abused having tried to read this. I read a lot of EOTWAWKI type books from freak weather to zombies, and everything in between, I have read lots of unpublished works, lots of wannabe' s and armchair warrior anthems. I read stories that entertained me, angered me and enthralled me. This book is the worst of the lot. Poor plotting, poorly dialogue d, written sometimes in the first person and then slipping out again. Every paragraph starts with the somebody's name. I feel that Amazon and the author should pay me for my wasted time..twice.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 28, 2014This story starts out with some promise, but veers off into ever increasing strangeness. The story gets to be more unbelievable the further you get in. I liked most of the journey to get to where the main character's wife worked. The level of suspension of disbelief escalates from there however. I stopped reading shortly after the guy gets back home. The military commander sharing secrets with him was the last straw. Just too illogical to be enjoyable. 2 stars for the decent story to reach his wife's workplace, the rest just a chore to get through. Won't be looking at any of the follow up books.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 9, 2014I read 37 miles the first one and 37 miles the second one. The first was very good, I really enjoyed it. I equally enjoyed the sequel except for the grammar and the typos. They were very frequent in the second one. I do look forward to the third sequel.
