About the author

I was born in 1949. I grew up a child of the cold war in northern New Jersey. I practiced ducking and covering under my desks during air raid drills. I viewed death for the first time when I was 13, my camp counselor died in front of me. I realized that there are very few fairly tales in the real world. I learned preparing from by father. I've lived all over the country and have had the chance to travel the world. I write politically incorrect stories, usually told from the eyes of common people who get caught up in events when the world spins out of control around them. None of my stories have neighborhoods full of special forces troops, none have the cavalry riding over the hill to save everyone. Many of my stories have a dark side, there is violence and foul language because I think this makes the story more realistic Many of my stories don't have happy endings because I think when the SHTF most people's stories aren't going to end well. My spelling and grammar aren't always the best. However, I think you'll like the stories.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 2, 2014I like this book coming from the point of view of someone who was involved with the end of the world as we know it. Interesting perspective of final events.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 22, 2014A very unique nuclear apocalypse novel, well written and imaginative. I enjoyed reading it.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 31, 2014I had a few issues with the quality of the editing, I found this book really good. I am hoping for a sequel dealing with the situation in the Southern Hemisphere. While not quite the same sort of ending as the classic Neville Shute novel, "On The Beach",, this book is equally as thought provking, and, in some ways disturbing
- Reviewed in the United States on January 23, 2014Very interesting plot, would make a great movie. I read this in a single sitting, took me about 3 hours - I did not want to put it down.
The book doesn't appear that it was edited, however, and that does take away from the experience.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 21, 2014Quick read of a very unlikely scenario. The editing of the writing left more than a lot to be desired. Word substitutions if for of, case for cave displays the amateurish writing capability of the author. Nonetheless, once you get by the scenario and lack of editing, I was entertained.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 19, 2014This Kindle book is a well written doomsday story. Many books have been written about the subject, however, this book has a few new twists and turns. Although some parts are similar to 'On the Beach', the ending will probably surprise you.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 14, 2014Don't waste your money. Characters are one dimensional and uninteresting. I've read several "end of the world" books but this one has Jewish people seem to be megalomaniacs, Muslims to be buffoons, Christians to be pious family loving mass murders and all the other religious and non-religious humans to be raping, murdering, bumbling idiots! The types and numbers of weapons are astronomical! Every leader of every country wants to lead their people, however any head of state would realize that to use so many weapons in a strike as to invite such a massive counter-strike would have no-one to rule! Sorry, I'm done now.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 27, 2014Needs some editing for grammar and spelling. The story is very compelling and realistic. I bought this after reading 2015 and was so impressed, that I searched out Ira Tabankin's other works. I just picked up By the Light of the Moon and look forward to more from this author. Thank you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Horrifyingly plausible.
Terrifying version of how life could end due to intolerance against those with a difference in religion and the terrible consequences of global nuclear war.
Depressing but thought provoking.
Recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Thought provoking
This I found as a good thought provoking 'what if' novel.
The only problem I had with it was, unfortunately like many Kindle published items, the standard of proof reading was low which spoiled the story. Things 'that' when the word should have been 'then'.
Know doubt the auto correct was used but this alone is not enough. Items need to be properly proof read which means reading it.
It is shame that many good stories published on Kindle suffer the same problem.
Having said that, as I stated above I found it a good thought provoking novel.
I don't know if a follow up could be done on any survivors particularly in the south, Australia and New Zealand, which I was surprised there was little mention of.

3.0 out of 5 stars My Story: A Diary of the of the End of the World By Its Tabankin.
Disturbing read this was from the start to finish. Quite depressing but what do you expect from apocalyptic fiction happy endings. I agree with some of the other reviewers about grammar and punctuation, which are not very good here. Other than that I found the story interesting and characters well drawn.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow
That certainly doesn't let up from start to finish. If you liked Threads or The Day After this is definitely the book version.

1.0 out of 5 stars Avoid this badly written rubbish
The first 'book' I have ever reviewed and I am doing so to warn others away from reading it. Poor grammar and constantly shifting tenses make this a hugely irritating read. And that's even before one gets into the stupidity of the plot.
It deserves no star but I have to offer one because the system requires it,
