T.R. Hamby has been writing stories since she was tall enough to reach the family computer.     What sets up as a fake date for a night, you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours, turns into a very sexy romp. Add in a thriller of an ending, with a shocking bad guy, and this roller coaster is sent over the hill. Loved Cass, the heroine, and sometimes wanted to slap Mattie, the love interest. Mattie was a bit too predictable (gorgeous, wealthy guy, very good in bed, a little aloof a la Christian Gray, etc. But Cass was well crafted and, good news! there's book 2 with more Cass adventures

    Fake Out is definitely a steamy romance which will leave you hot and bothered - in all the good ways! I enjoyed the playfulness and intensity of Mattie and Cass' relationship. But there were also some serious, important issues that T.R. Hamby handled well throughout the book. She draws you into this relationship but makes it sustain with a sincere foundation as the characters build trust. And she never leaves you waiting long for another steamy scene!

    I love a good trope that hooks me in and keeps me reading a book in one or two sittings. T.R. Hamby’s Fake Out IS that book. Fake dating is one of my favourite angles, because it occurs in real life when you desperately need that partner to attend a function, but aren’t in a serious relationship at the time.

    Hamby adds other layers to her plot, turning this romance into a steamy-thriller-action adventure! I’m out of breath just thinking about it! I like that the author doesn’t shy away from the chemistry-inducing steam between the leads. Cass is likeable and Mattie is – hot. It’s a perfect combination to heat things up and set off the metaphorical sprinklers.

    Kudos to the author for combining heat AND a thoughtful story. This might appear to be a simple night out for Cass and Mattie, a mutually-beneficial arrangement, but the supporting characters and conflicts in Fake Out show that this genre is dynamic and engaging. Highly recommend.
