Bears Against Bullies Kindle Edition

4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars 10 ratings

This book teaches children ages 4-8 how to handle bullies in an assertive manner. Max and his brothers take a stand against the mean frogs who are tormenting their best pal, Froggie Nelsons, who is timid and afraid. Together, they are able to build Froggie’s confidence and instill in him the strength to stand up to them by himself, which he has to do in the book in the event of Max’s absence. The approach is assertive, but the message is very clear: Do unto others as you would have others do unto you. The book ends with a special message from Max Bear imploring children to think before they are unkind to others, and to always treat others the way they would like to be treated. The principle is simple, yet fundamental.

To begin with, there is something about Max Bear that makes him incredibly endearing. Like all good children’s literature, this book has aspects that entertain kids as well as adults.
Now to the important purpose of this book: to open a dialogue with children about being a bullied, being bullied, and being a bystander. Each of these are equally significant conversations to have with children when they are young enough to absorb the right way to handle things. I really appreciated how Max, as a witness to bullying, takes it upon himself to protect someone who needs his help. When the bullied frog is forced to stand up for himself, he does so by using the empowering message from Max Bear.
I highly recommend this book as a topic to address with young children. Bullying is something to nip in the bud!

I like this book and so do my kids. I was a little surprised at how Froggie handled the bullies with no consequences. It did open up a discussion with my kids on other options of handling bullies, which was good. We liked the pictures.

I read this book with my grandson, actually he read it to me and we enjoyed it!., The pictures were awesome and the message was even better.
What a great way to teach a kid how to deal with a bully. I found even more importantly it teaches a kid not to become a bully and treat one as you want to be treated. thank you max bear esquire I believe me and my grandson will get your other book too.

I think the book is very interesting and that it could be helpful to kids who are bullied. I liked Max Bear because he stepped up to the bullies and got them to stop bullying Froggie. I think that if a bully would read this book, then he or she would stop.

Not long ago, I had the good fortune to meet a bear named Max and his human.
Max Bear has published two children’s books, How to Handle a Stuffed Bear Attack, and his latest, Bears Against Bullies. I found the concept of a bear sharing in writing such valuable messages so endearing and timely, I invited him to be on my blog.

Max Bear is never at a loss for words, In fact, I had a hard time keeping up with him, but I did learn more about why Max had to write Bears Against Bullies. Max Bear’s new best friend Froggie Nelson is the smartest kid in school, but he’s also being bullied. Max Bear and his brothers teach Froggie how to handle the bullies, while teaching us all a wonderful lesson – don’t bully others and please be KIND.

Although the book’s target audience is ages 4-8, I thoroughly enjoyed the story and the pictures. As I read along, I also discovered Max Bear is just like any other kid – he likes football, reading and singing songs, doing book signings and riding his bike. He also enjoys outdoing his human! What kid doesn’t get a secret thrill from innocently besting their parent once in a while?

Max Bear is truly a rare find. I’ve heard through the grapevine his third book, Bear Therapy, will be released soon, and I look forward to it.

Bears Against Bullies should be a must in the classroom, especially kindergarten, as the story provides tips a youngster starting out in the social world can learn from. Five stars from me for this timely, cute and intelligent read.

This is a really cute story about sticking up for your friends and yourself. I think this book would make a good teaching tool for parents and their kids. The format is a little wonky in the ebook version though. I'd also like to see an expanded version with Max and his brother bears sitting down and talking to Froggie about more ways to deal with bullies and Froggie asking them questions about it. But that's just me. I liked it enough that I wanted more! All in all a good read!

This book is truly awesome! Max Bear presents information regarding those who are bullied, in a fun way while at the same time keeping children from being scared. Max and Froggie Nelsons present a version of Froggie being bullied in a manner that is fun and teaches children why bullying is wrong. Love Max! Love this book! Love the story line! Love the graphics! Love from S. Jackson, Author, When Angels Fly

Max Bear did it again, with Bears Against Bullies!! This book is funny, cute and it has a wonderful message behind it. A perfect story to read for your children. Follow Max as he helps Froggy overcome being bullied. This is a beautiful little story that goes deep into the heart of what some children have to deal with at school. It can even go for the older ones. A must read for anyone that has been bullied, or for the parents to read in case they are worried that their child is being bullied. I loved it!
