It is the winter solstice of 1846. Fafnir the dwarf's monstrous creation, the Great Clock, has begun to tick. With every turn of its thousands of gears beneath the earth, the world is slowly changing, but not for the better - at least not for Mankind.

There she is given a quest - to somehow carry hope down to the land of the Giants. But she finds that she has been given an impossible task, for that world is being consumed by the Great Worm, and she cannot stop it.

At last Frederick and Colleen meet in that dying land, and there must find a way to save the last of its people.

Ben Anderson is the author of the McGunnegal Chronicles, a song writer, rock climber, backpacker, outdoor enthusiast, father, husband, and Orthodox Christian.

When his children were young, he told them bedtime stories almost every night, and these stretched out for years. They enjoyed these so much that they encouraged him to write them down, and these became The McGunnegal Chronicles.

Ben gathers inspiration from the great outdoors, fairy tales and legends, the teachings of the Orthodox Church Fathers, and from the funny and amazing stories that people tell.

    As a person who dislikes reading, these books got me to enjoy reading. I purchased the first 5 from the author in person at the Pittsburgh Irish festival. Can't wait to see him in person again this year to get this one in person and have it signed. Giving this 5 stars solely based on the series so far
