When I was working I used mindfulness when interacting with my students. I had men and women who were on parole. They were in my class to learn about their drug use.
It was important for me to listen to what then were sharing because most of the time they weren’t heard.
I realize that I fail to use mindfulness with one of my sons. His focus is on the past and it’s hard to get him to focus on today. But it’s hard to be mindful when he is hurting. Again I love the book.

"Mindfulness" allows us to pump the brakes on our thoughts as we witness the almost daily chaos in our society; we cannot allow ourselves to be dragged along. The author reminds us to focus on conscious thought, positive possibilities and to stay "curious". What the book reminded me of is that "patience is a virtue" and "buffers" allow us to grow patience. A good read.

How to Stop Being F…. Rude to People is a wonderful find. From time to time, I scour Amazon for books about bettering myself and Mindfulness. I subscribe the Headspace and Calm as ways to release the stress in trivial matters of the day and a reminder to stay present in the now. This book was suggested by the algorithm. It was the title that piqued my curiosity so I decided to give it a read. I was hooked from the first page. The book breaks down Mindfulness from the definition, how it is derived from ancient scholars and spiritual leaders; and includes the practice of Mindfulness as part of our day to day routines. The book gets straight to the point. It is an easy and digestible read. It is not full of quotes and flowery anecdotes, which I appreciate. I recommend this book as a great addition to self-improvement applications and other literatures. I hope the author writes a companion workbook.
