- Reviewed in the United States on December 18, 2022Reads like an early draft. Too many echoes, lack of distinct voices, passive verb usage, and POV shifts in the same paragraphs.
Editing is hard. I get it . But the author writes of her characters rehearsing, polishing, and reworking their songs—sometimes for weeks at a time—then publishes a very early draft of this book without nearly the same work she puts her characters through. It was hard to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Fantastic Book
Well Coral once again did not disappoint, another stunningly well written book to add to her impressive collection.
This is the story about Riley, who we met previously in the Silver Lake series.
I initially thought it was going to be Riley's back story as there was obviously alot going on with her already in her short life, but I was delighted to see it was a continuation of her story from where we left her.
It explored the highs and lows of her and her new band as they negotiate the road to stardom.
This was an amazingly written book (as they all are) and Coral has a way of drawing you into the characters world and convinces you that they are real people, giving you the feeling of a personal connection.
I loved the complex feelings and emotions that Riley experiences and this really draws you to her on a personal level.
Another fantastic book and I can't wait to see what Coral's next book will be, I will just need to re read the others again while I wait.

5.0 out of 5 stars A brilliant read
Riley is a stand alone book but ties in to the Silver Lake series perfectly. I could not put this book down but had to when I realised it was 2am & I had to get up for work the next day!! A difficult subject is treated with compassion and will have you laughing and crying along with the characters. Coral's books just keep getting better and I can't wait to see what comes next.

5.0 out of 5 stars Back amongst familiar friends
Great to catch up with rock friends old and brand new. Coral McCallum brings us another rock and roll journey and reminds us that life is very much a chequered path - the highs; the lows; the agony and the ecstasy. Exciting; engaging - cathartic...

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fantastic read!
What can I say, every time a new book comes from Coral, I think it’s the best one. Riley did not disappoint. You feel every emotion with her. It really does have everything and is absolutely my new favourite. Sensitive subjects handled beautifully. Thank you Coral, and can’t wait to see what comes next :)
