- Reviewed in the United States on August 20, 2022This book does have layers! We hear that sometimes and then it's not true, but in this case, it is. Three bodies trigger the FBI. Ronin Nash might have though it was retirement time, but nope. He has been sucked into this case via his former boss asking for his help. So goes this tale of suspense and fast moving pages. All the characters are very relistic and engaging. Nash really shines in this story. I have read this author before, but I really liked this story and how it's a very good mystery thriller.
Thanks to Overview Media for my digital copy of this book. This review is my own and a positive review is never required.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 7, 2022Nobody’s Agent by Stuart Field is not my first read by this author, so I was excited to jump into this story. I’m so glad I did. This is such a great plot line. I was totally engaged with the story from the beginning to the end.
I loved the characters. Ronin is such a great main character. Stuart Field is a great writer. His characters lead this story and really help the reader get invested. Characters are flawed and very lifelike, which is how I enjoy my books!
Another great read by Stuart Field. I am very excited about this series and eagerly waiting for the next book. I recommend giving this a read!

- Reviewed in the United States on August 20, 2022NOBODY’S AGENT (Ronin Nash Thrillers Book #1) by Stuart Field is an exciting and captivating start to a new thriller series featuring an unconventional ex-FBI agent. The main character and crime plot grabbed me from page one.
After a case ends badly, FBI agent Ronin Nash resigns and heads off to his family’s cabin on a lake in the woods, but after a year his former boss comes to ask him to return for one special case for the new IIB (Interagency Investigation Bureau). Reluctant, but with a mind that is always intrigued with mysteries, Ronin accepts.
Finchley is a small town in upstate New York. After the sheriff discovers three bodies in an old, abandoned mine, he notifies the FBI for their assistance. This is the case Ronin is to investigate. Hopefully, it will be one day there and then he can either dismiss it back to local law enforcement or discover reasons for the FBI to take the case. A local reporter is missing, and an unidentified dead body is discovered in the old clothing factory. Ronin is learning this small town is full of secrets that could end up getting him killed.
I loved Ronin. He is the type of main character I love to find in thrillers with his intelligence, unique personality, and style. He puts all the evidence together while others underestimate his abilities. The secondary characters were believable, and I especially enjoyed Ronin’s dad, Mac. The dialogue between the two made for some lighter moments. The plot moves at a fast pace throughout the story with many surprising twists along the way. Mr. Field has a writing style that allowed me to fall right into this story and not want to stop reading until the resolution. I am very glad this is a series, and I will be anxiously waiting for the next Ronin Nash thriller.
I highly recommend this new thriller!

5.0 out of 5 stars A masterfully crafted, multi-layered, mystery thriller.
I’ve read all of Field’s books and this man is a talented storyteller.
In Nobody’s Agent a disgraced FBI agent, Ronin Nash, is brought out of premature retirement to investigate the discovery of 3 bodies in a mine just outside the small town of Finchley. This is not an FBI enquiry, but a new agency, tasked with scouting a mystery to see if it is a case that should be taken up by the FBI.
The thing is, Ronin Nash was one of the best in the FBI, but he made no friends in the Bureau hierarchy and, they are not too bothered if Nash screws up in Finchley, but you underestimate Nash at your peril.
What looks like a straightforward case of misadventure at the ‘Stepford’ like town, has Nash’s antennae twitching – how can a town be so ‘perfect’? And, the answers to his questions seem rehearsed.
What follows is like peeling an onion. As the layers of Nash’s probing reveal more murky secrets, and then, another mystery, and then another is revealed and so it continues right up to the climactic ending and, I never guessed what was coming.
Naturally, Nash is not viewed as a success as others take the credit, so, he goes back to his ‘retirement’. I can’t see that lasting long and I will be thankful for that – another riveting read please Stuart Field – 5 Stars.
