About the author

Diane Weiner, award-winning author of The Susan Wiles Schoolhouse Mysteries, The Sugarbury Falls Mysteries, and The Sara Baron Tuned-in Mysteries, is a veteran public school teacher and mother of four grown children. Being an animal lover, she is a vegetarian and shares her home with three precious cats—Louie, Lila, and Emmy. In her free time, she enjoys running, shopping, attending theater productions, watching British mysteries, and spending time with her family. - Reviewed in the United States on August 11, 2022Sara Baron, back in her own town and an oboist in a large orchestra is enjoying being home and starting a new life there far from what she had left. With her boyfriend, Travis and friends Aspen and Micah she was feeling at home now. After a concert, as they usually did, the four friends would meet up for some food etc. When Micah didn't show up until late, and he seemed distracted, they were worried something was wrong, but Micah assured them everything was fine. He was working on his dissertation in music with his mentors at the college and although his favorite mentor, Valerie was dead, he still worked very hard to make her proud. When Micah started acting strange and not answering Aspen's messages or calls, the friends feared something is wrong. Sara agreed to accompany Aspen to Micah's house to check up on him. The door was unlocked which was unusual and when they went in, the house was empty. When Aspen went upstairs, she found a suicide note on Micah's computer, but his coat, car, shoes were all still in the house. Where can he be. He seemed distracted, but not suicidal. In fact he and Aspen were planning a nice vacation together, why would he do that and where was he? When they walked around the property and down the street from his house, they found him over the guardrail at a dangerous curve, lying dead. Was this a suicide or was this murder as Aspen and Sara thought. But without proof otherwise, the police closed the book on a suicide. So begins the investigation with Aspen into what really happened. Add to that, her trust in Travis waned a little since she saw a female staying over at his house, which was next door. Was he two-timing her? And why did she keep feeling nauseous? So many threads to this story, so many dead ends and who were the suspects? This was a really fast paced read that you didn't want to put it down once you begin. I deceived and ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 14, 2022This is the third in the series. I found it well written and plotted. The story kept me turning pages to deduce the killer and learn about Sara & Travis, Sara’s friends & family, and future endeavors.
Sara’s friend Aspen is concerned about her boyfriend Micah. She seeks Sara’s guidance and help.
Aspen learns more about Micah after his death. The search is on for was it a suicide or not. It is hard to accept that someone would take his own life. Micah did not appear to be having a difficult time except with his studies.
As the story progresses, we learn there are surprises for a few of the characters. The story has some sad points that reflect on society but overall I found it a worthy read.
I am looking forward to the next installment to see what happens in Sara life.
I was given an advanced copy and am NOT required to leave a positive review.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 16, 2022Author has trouble remembering where characters live, what their professions are, descriptions of venues, description of musical group etc.
Elite chamber music groups do not play for the Nutcracker and professional musicians decide if it is worth playing a plethora of Nutcrackers because of the wear and tear on their bodies.
The author is very prolific, has a formula, does not appear to read her work or fix errors/inconsistencies.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 23, 2022Bad Vibes has mystery, family, intrigue, wine and romance. This well plotted book kept me turning the pages. There is an accidental death before this story begins, an apparent suicide, a hidden wife, wineries, mysterious real estate dealings and more. This book has lots of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing. Only near the end do the dots appear to connect! I thoroughly enjoyed this clever mystery.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 6, 2022Skillfully crafted mystery, interwoven with romance. A fabulous story with an unexpected conclusion. Great book!
