Hope When it Hurts: The Scars that Shape Us (Christian Devotional Collaborations) Kindle Edition
It's easy to lose hope, especially in today's world. Through times like these, we all need to be reminded of the hope of Jesus!
Hope for the Moment is a collection of what we're calling Devotional Stories, real stories by real people about a real God. There are some heavy moments, but in every story, hope is found and God is glorified. These serve to remind of God's faithfulness and goodness.
While most of the Christian writers in this collection are women, it can serve to encourage anyone of any age. Writers from around the world have contributed to this collaboration. We celebrate the international feel and have retained author styles.
The deep, personal stories in this collection will inspire and encourage anyone with an open heart.
May the real stories from these real people reflect the real God and add HOPE to your season. There is hope, a living hope in Jesus, one that does not disappoint.
You are not alone. You are loved. You are here for a reason.

Al Ainsworth writes about family, story, and legacy. Though he has written in the genres of memoir, middle-grade sports fiction, Christian fiction, and biography, these three threads run through each of his books.
The Lonesome, Party of Six Christian fiction series follows the stories of six lonely strangers brought together by the kindness of a stranger stuck in her own loneliness. (Find this series through my thinly-veiled pen name, A. Ainsworth.)
Playing for Overtime: The David Lee Herbert Story is a sports and human spirit biography of how a wrong-way play, tragic car accident, and lengthy ALS battle set the stage for this small-school football coach to impact generations.
Lines in the Gravel is a memoir about his growing up in rural Star, Mississippi, and the family values he later recognized were being passed down through the stories that his family tells and re-tells. Stories from the Roller Coaster (of a Faith Life) is a personal look at the ups and downs of his own faith journey and a challenge to readers to pass along their own faith stories to the next generation.
The Coach Dave sports action series follows a group of players and parents on a journey from recreational baseball to travel baseball through their high school tryouts with their coach who cares more about whom his players become that what they become on the baseball field, despite ongoing conflict with a win-at-all-costs opposing coach.
I live a hop and a skip away from Paradise (K Gari in Aboriginal language, formerly known as Fraser Island), in the Sunshine State of Australia.
My family and I live in a treehouse overlooking the bay with my puppy Mellow.
We enjoy lunch with the magpies, butcherbirds and geckos, whilst watching the kangaroos with their joeys hop around our front yard.
I was born in Sydney and grew up in Europe. During my childhood I lived on the beach and helped my parents in their kiosk. Later on, I worked in the medical industry where I burned-out and consequently initiated a career change. I am now living my dream as an author.
Surviving major medical emergencies prompted me to write my first book, ‘My Story of Survival.’ It includes my exclusive one-size-fits-all-diet garnished with oodles of faith. My diet inspires many readers to heal and soothe their gut after experiencing serious health issues and helps them enjoy the luxury of health again.
My second book, ‘Mimi’s Book Launch Plan’ is also known as, ‘A must-read for anyone launching for the first time.’ My fourth book, ‘The Holy Grail of Book Launching’ has been labeled as, ‘Pure GOLD’ and ‘The Wikipedia of Publishing’ by Amazon customers. These books have helped countless fellow writers, self-publishers and Indie authors publish their books effortlessly and successfully.
With ‘God Healed Me’ and its accompanying Journal I share how standing on God’s promises miraculously transformed my life. Many readers tell me how the bonus free download of my collection of Healing Scripture Verses helps them on their healing journey.
I confess to getting a solid kick up the bum from my Guardian Angel which prompted my sixth book; ‘Live Your Best Life by Writing Your Own Legacy.’
Bestselling author Ray Brehm said, ‘This is the type of book that changes your thinking, and can change the world!’
At some stage, I hit rock bottom and it was pure joy to discover that God's transforming love finds us even in the lowest valley and darkest cave. This is how 'The Truth, Love & God' series came about.
Comments from readers; 'A gem of a book,' 'brutally honest,' 'loving message' and 'exceptional read.' These books are great easy reads for Christians as well as non-Christians. If you're feeling unloved and having questions about God's love, these books are for you!
I wrote 'Letters to My Godson' after my Godson asked me, 'Is God real?' This book explains where God shows up every day for all of us. 'Your writing is VERY child friendly. The vocabulary, the sentence structure and the length' by Learning Specialist Elsie Moses-Hoeg Phd from the Da Vinci Learning Institute.
'Love of My Life' is a fun piece of light-hearted poetry written for puppy lovers and inspired by my love for rescue dogs and in particular my puppy Mellow.
My latest release is 'The Image of the Beast Versus Image of God' which together with the Companion Reference Manual reveals the truth about the Second Commandment according to the ancients.
What does it mean when God tells us 'not to create an image or likeness of anything?'
It means exactly what it says.

There came a time in my life when I realized although I had accepted Jesus as my Savior, I had not gotten to know Him - really know Him. He offers us the opportunity to have an intimate relationship with Him. That is too precious a gift to not accept. I finally gave up all that I was clinging to - my baggage, my past and my people pleasing - and learned to put Jesus first in my life. I came to understand that Jesus had proven He was committed to me, now I needed to commit my life to Him. Once I began to do my part, I began to grow closer to my Savior and truly experience walking with Him. Is it always easy? No. Is it worth it? Absolutely! You, too, can have a deep connection to the King of Kings. There is nothing like it.

Kathryn Springman loves all things creative! Her grandmother taught her to sew and taught her to use her imagination and use it well, always asking, "Can you imagine it this way or that? Can you imagine what something looks like in a different fabric or in a different color?" Her grandmother also encouraged her to look at the miraculous nature of life that surrounds all of us--in birdsong, in water flowing through a creek and the breeze in our hair.
Her mother taught her a love of puzzles and the wonder of how pieces go together to make the full picture (even if we can't see it). Her father provided her with the opportunity to witness the greatness of a pioneer healer whose bedside manner both calms and reassures.
Ms. Springman has over 30 years experience in prayer, intercession, and spiritual warfare. When a friend urged her to rethink and redefine health, this catapulted her into BodyTalk and alternative energy healing.
As an Advanced Certified and PaRama BodyTalk Practitioner and BodyTalk Access Trainer, she has continued to develop and expand techniques and offers consultations and conducts seminars to other practitioners regarding her techniques. In addition to teaching the BodyTalk Access for laypeople, she is working on a series of seminars for teaching laypeople her techniques.
Kathryn Springman brings new insights based on science and the ancient wisdom of God. Health is more than what we see in the body, and if we are struggling in the health of even one area of our lives--spiritually, mentally, emotionally, or physically--then on some level we are struggling with the health of all. Ms. Springman's approach to health is one that balances all those aspects of our being.
Ms. Springman has a full time BodyTalk practice in Edmond, Oklahoma where she conducts both in person and distance healing sessions. You can find her at www.KathrynSpringman.com or on her Facebook page at www.FaceBook.com/kaspringman. For clinic information, visit www.okBodyTalk.com.

Jodi was raised out in the country in the bootheel of Missouri, where farmland is prevalent and so is hospitality. She is the youngest of three, with two older brothers. Jodi played sports throughout her education and her first job was on a potato farm. She played outside, loved the open sky, and dreamed of creating something special someday.
Jodi grew up in the church but as she matured, she found herself searching for more. In high school she found a youth group where she discovered her desire to deepen her relationship with Jesus.
Jodi completed her education at Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri obtaining her degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing/Management. This is where she met Stefan and her heart was captivated. She dated him for five years and now they recently celebrated their thirteen year anniversary.
Jodi is now a mama to three spirited boys who grow her faith and her heart daily. With rough-housing sessions in the living room floor and legos underfoot, Jodi finds refuge from the masculinity with her (girl) dog Izzy. In a house full of boys you’d think Jodi would feel out of place, but she is happy and at home in the cuddly arms of her husband and sons. Jodi left the banking industry in 2018 and now homeschools her boys. She cheers on her St. Louis Cardinals in her remaining spare moments. She is active with her church family, teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.

Hi, my name is Meredith Swift and I am an introverted extrovert – loving my space and quiet time but also loving to connect and engage with people.
I am interested in people from all walks of life – and I believe that everyone has a story to tell. My own story has many chapters so far and I’m hoping there are many more to come. I write about life through the eyes of a follower of Jesus.
I never imagined someone like me would ever want to become a Christian. I've lived a life of many and varied degrees of pain and joy with my share of struggles including a violent marriage and raising two daughters, one of whom has significant special needs.
But then I met Jesus....and everything changed!
He has transformed my life in every way possible and He is the reason that I write. In my books, I aim to point you towards the deep love of Christ. I believe that everyone has a story to tell and, in my books, you will find out how God has used my story to help, encourage and uplift others. Faith in Him has truly set me free!
I love to write, and I love to read, cook and walk in Nature. My home is beautiful Townsville in sunny North Queensland, Australia, with three spoiled cats and one very hopeful and trusting Golden Retriever.
"Earthly life is a precious gift. The gift of eternal life is even more precious and one that is freely given. Just say 'yes' to Jesus".
"I believe life is a curious and unpredictable adventure full of opportunities for personal growth. Trials can either enrich or destroy us. Either way, they change us. I believe what we learn during the angst of our life defines us as human."

Matt King grew up as the son of a preacher in South Eastern Tennessee. His love of reading began at an early age from the nightly bedtime stories his parents would read him, his older sister, and younger brother. As Matt grew up, he was inspired by his grandparents’ small business to one day have a business of his own. Because of his desire to learn more about business, he received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Florida College and his Master’s in Management from Indiana Tech. Matt currently runs a website called “TheDesignedMan” which is a resource for young men to design their whole life while focusing on spiritual matters. The site is growing and he hopes to expand it in the coming years. Matt has been married to his high school sweetheart for nearly 10 years. She is an inspiration and sounding board to him and is a constant supporter. They currently live in Tampa, Florida with their Shiba Inu, Xan. This is Matt’s second book. You can find his first book, Becoming A Man of Action: Lessons From the Book of James on Amazon as well.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2021This is another great collaboration not just for keeping up Hope but indirectly thankfulness. Some of the real-life stories here are beyond horrendous. Yet the good folks caught up in the awful circumstances somehow kept on going, making it through. For lots of us our "trials and tribulations" are put into perspective (not near as terrible as they could be) by these wrenching stories, engendering thankfulness for what we have. However, it's not just the terrors of the unholy trinity at work (Mother Nature, Father Time, and Human Frailty), but strengthening by the Biblical Trinity. Yes, potent Bible verses are presented and explained. But in addition, there's a lot of practical advice for keeping on going. As an example, I particularly liked: "While you cannot control what happens in your life, you are in full control of how you react and what you do next." Excellent advice for not just saying "woe is me" but using the struggles to gain strength. Very interesting read, highly recommended!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 27, 2021A lovely compilation of encouragement from a variety of Christian authors. They all write from their dark seasons and explain their unique experiences with how their hope in God carried them through tragedy. Their varied examples of divorce, sickness, death of a loved one, and many others are sure to speak into the lives of many experiencing similar valleys.
I wish I could find more info on Kangara! I love Emmanuel's style of writing, so personal and powerful through emotion. Lacey also quotes two of my favorites: Spurgeon and Erwin McManus.
And I absolutely love Star of Hope!
My favorite quotes are:
"Don't talk about what the devil is doing, talk about what Jesus is doing."
"He never promised us a rose garden. In fact, He warned us that we would have trouble."
"To find hope, learn how to praise."
- Reviewed in the United States on March 7, 2022This was a fantastic book that gives you hope and inspiration in your most troubling times. The collaboration of people who wrote about their experience from tragedy to fulfillment is very inspiring and allows the reader to see how it's possible to get out of hard times. It's very well-written and the flow of the book makes it a real page-turner. Well done to the author!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 13, 2022The individual stories were quite different but all contained a clear message of hope. In this time of heaviness and the daunting unknown hope really is what we need to hold on to and these stories were a reminder that even when things seem hopeless there is always hope.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 23, 2020A compilation of real life stories centred around the theme of Hope. Each story gives the reader genuine insights into the scars that have shaped their lives and ultimately the hope they have found in God. As a reader I appreciated the vulnerability and openness of the author’s so that their pain could be used to comfort and encourage the reader.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 11, 2022I enjoyed this book. There are many tips on healing from emotional pain and dealing with the scars as a result. Useful for anyone going through loss and pain, they will find this book encouraging and inspiring.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 2, 2021A very sweet comfort I felt reading this book. I found answers and words for my prayers.
Beautiful testimonies that made me appreciated much more how great is our God and how much I am loved and cared by Him.
Thanks to these incredible authors for sharing with us! God bless you always!

- Reviewed in the United States on July 6, 2021This book was very uplifting and answered some questions I've had for years. For example: why did Judas betray Jesus when he had witnessed so much wisdom and so many miracles? What does the passage "I never knew you" mean? I highly recommend this book to Christ followers young and old.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read during tough times
You don't have to identify as Christian to get value from this book. It's a great collection of real stories from real people who have gone through difficult times and survived them by drawing upon the power of hope and the knowledge that things can and will get better. Each of the stories suggest the importance of staring reality in the face and accepting things for what they are before choosing to believe they will get better.
