Conqueror (The Parthian Chronicles Book 16) Kindle Edition
This is the code you have lived by all your life, Pacorus. Everything you have undertaken has been with those three objectives uppermost in your mind. And now your life’s work is nearly complete. Your family prospers, the empire is safe, and the gods are the indifferent, callous, bloodthirsty deities they have been since the dawn of time.
And yet, they can also be generous, even kind. After a wearisome battle to defend your kingdom, they present you with the opportunity to experience one last great adventure, an offer that is almost beyond comprehension. Grasp it with both hands, Pacorus, and ride to war again, this time against the most dangerous enemy the Parthian Empire has ever faced. But you will not be alone, and the ensuing perils and calamities will seem insignificant when compared to the great miracle the gods have gifted you.
‘Conqueror’ is the sixteenth volume in the Parthian Chronicles series and follows on from ‘Dura’. Maps of the Parthian Empire and Judea in the 1st century BC can be found on the maps page of my website.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 15, 2023This latest novel addresses some very interesting Alternative History grounded on the Parthian Empires progress during Pacorus, lifetime(s). A neat literary device.
As many Historical Novels focus on well trodden ground,"Julius Ceaser the unbeatable genius etc" Darmans approach to the "What Ifs" is refreshing to say the least!
Well done Peter Darman!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2022Thoroughly enjoyable . Once again exciting and full of action. The mystical was to the extreme in this version of Pacorus. I actually prefer this distorted version of history.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 15, 2023Alternate history after so many novels of carefully researched historical fiction? The storyline feels contrived, fun at times, but jarring in other sections. Julius Caesar killed in Parthia and Mark Anthony killed in Syria, both fighting Parthians. No, that just does not work. Seeing old characters come back to life was fun. But the book never has a literary climax and the ending is like the author just gave up. There are must better choices in this series than this novel.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 8, 2022I have read the entire series and own them as well. From the first book to the last one you pick a book it's hard to put it down. I highly recommend these stories of ancient Parthia.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 2, 2022Another excellent edition to the series, this one was the best one yet!
Fascinating time travel angle makes this book a winner.
Highly recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Book 16
A bit far-fetched but good never the less. Not quite, a book too far, but sufficient. 8 out of 10.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Parthian Chronicles continue
Once again Peter Darman has provide us with another great read in this truly wonderful continuing storyline centred around King Pacorus, Dura and the Parthian Empire. I have read all of his books, not just The Parthian Chronicles and found all to be such enjoyable reads. Am looking forward to his next novel, wherever that will take me

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable read
Enjoyable though the series is becoming “tired”. Time for Peter to turn his talent in another direction
