Anthony Barbera is a novelist and composer with a lifelong passion for both storytelling and music. He began his creative journey as a film and commercial composer, earning his bachelor’s in music composition from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and later pursuing graduate studies at the University of Massachusetts, where his work was performed by the North Carolina Symphony Orchestra.

Yet it was storytelling that ultimately captured his heart. After guiding a group of young writers and actors in their first film, X Marks the Spot, Anthony turned to fiction with a focus on deeply human, faith-driven stories. His published novels include 'Catching Baby Moses', 'The First Rains of October', 'Jonah: In the Time of the Kings', 'Assurity: A Space Thriller', and 'Izzy the Bernese Mountain Dog'. His latest release, 'Elijah: Fire from Heaven, captures the courage and calling of one man who stood alone for the Living God.'

First… I thoroughly enjoy this author. Anthony has a wonderful writing gift to communicate with depth, without becoming mundane or repetitive. And once again he delivered his gift in “Izzy”.
A beautiful heartwarming and yet daring and rapidly moving story of the exploits of Izzy in her life on the farm. As normal for Anthony, you are immediately pulled into the story as if you are right there witnessing and experiencing every word. I laughed, cried, shared the victory and even prayed for her in diff situations, I was so involved. I was hooked!!!
I gave Izzy also as gifts and have received wonderful reviews from parents and children. I highly recommend Izzy for young and old alike.

Izzy The Bernese Mountain Dog is a wonderful read. It has just the right amount of scary, laughter, and love. I was delighted in how the story is told by Selma. She is one of the dairy cows, and seeing everything from her point of view made the story all the more fun to read. Each character, whether human or animal, had his or her own unique personality, and you get to know each of them. The author captured the unique qualities of each different animal so well that I was convinced, from raven to bear to coyote and wolf, that each would act and even talk exactly the way the author portrayed them!

As Izzy and her friends (cows, horses, humans, and Digger, the Australian cattle dog) start their journey, I felt like I was right there with them all the way, experiencing every wild crazy thing that happens to them on their adventure. This book was really fun to read.

Izzy The Bernese Mountain Dog is the perfect story for young and old alike, and I’m looking forward to many more wonderful adventures with Izzy and all her friends!

I liked that the story was told by Selma the cow. It was clever. Izzy was a great dog, seeing her grow and become an amazing farm working dog and hero through the tale. She handled all the mishaps well and received lots of love, being such a wonderful dog. This story is good for younger readers who want a clean adventure. It was easy to read, with some good vocabulary to learn, and some fun farm/animal facts. There was some repetitive word use, that I think could have been changed to flow a little bit better, but that may not be much of a concern for younger audiences.

We've been following the adventures of Izzy (and everything Anthony Barbera writes) for awhile now, and we're so glad that it's finally available in paperback. I can read it to the grandkids (who absolutely love it) on something other than a Kindle! Couldn't recommend this book and author highly enough. This series is great to read as a family and is suitable for all ages.
