Max Steele, a former cyborg marine ranger, returned to Earth with his team to restore law and order to the North American West. He is on his way to Northern California to take over securing order in the San Francisco megalopolis. Although he preferred his rural territory, he knew he wasn't needed.

Max considered himself socially repressed and was not looking forward to dealing with people in the urban ruins. He even worried he would put off his genetic mate if he ever found her.

Falyn Wayne is running for her life from four men on her horse Argus. Max sees them from the air and decides to intervene, putting himself between the men and the fleeing woman. Sending them on their way, he finds Falyn standing over her downed horse with a pistol sobbing because it has broken its leg, and she needs to end his suffering. Max stops her, but as he approaches, Falyn shoots him...

    Another repeat of all the other cyborg stories, with a change in the action scenes. Way too much sex and crude language. Also too much repetition, missing words and incorrect use of comma placement. In the beginning I enjoyed these books, but it became just the same story with different characters and places, with no improvement. I'm done. Sorry.

    I thought this was a bit slow at the start but It soon picked up. I like when the female lead is independent. Fayln lives on her homestead with her horse Argus, when some townsmen give her chase Argus falls and Fayln fears the worse.
    Max is new to the area and extremely reluctant to be there. When he sees a human female about to ease the pain of her horse he intervenes. What happens next changes both of their lives irrevocably.
    Some really heartfelt emotional parts but with a HEA

    Max and Fayln's story is so very sweet. But the surprise was Colton Price's story entertwined with this one. It was a great addition to this book and I really thank the authors for supplying the ending to both males.

    This book was enjoyable to read and brought together all the previous books. I have read all the books and have enjoyed the stories of cyborgs and their mates. It was good to see that Colt get a good ending as well.
