- Reviewed in the United States on October 2, 2022This book is for any person who (maybe didn’t start out this way) has allowed themselves to develop some negative thought patterns and reactive habits. The author shares her journey as one such as this. The book is about your relationship with yourself and the way you choose to respond to others. The author reminds you that challenges are sent to us to as messages of lessons we need to learn. I always appreciate people who are masters of self-reflection as it is the most important aspect of personal growth. I also love that the author makes it clear that we are responsible for ourselves. This is an easy read for those who enjoy personal growth.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 4, 2022Although I don’t usually act like a jerk, I’ve been feeling like the pressures of life and perhaps being ill treated by some has made me want to lash out in some ways. (Or at least seethe quietly and passive aggressively!) This book was full of wise reminders on how to correct behaviors we aren’t proud of and to shift into a healthier state with a more positive outlook. It’s well written and easy to read as well. Get it, you’ll be glad you did!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 3, 2022Interpersonal skills can never be underestimated. It is a class that really should be taught in schools. Most people just default to the level of interpersonal skills they have been exposed to by their parents. This book allows you to understand yourself on a deeper level.
I loved Chapter 4, they have some very good questions for some self-reflection work. Any book that can help shape your life for the better is definitely worth the time.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 27, 2022It was such an easy book to read and all the knowledge is routed in the author's own experience. She explains all the tips with examples & scripts and you will not only be able to help yourself, but buy the book for a couple of friends/family members who could use some tips to see the positive in life. A great thought starter and it will truly give you tools to change your life for the better.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 4, 2022I went through a similar transformation that the author briefly talks about in this book so I understood the power of changing one’s life to make it better for yourself and the people around you. I think the real thing that holds people back is ego. Lack of an ego and humbling oneself was the turning point for me to finally turn things around for my life. This guide is a good starting point anyone who needs to humble themselves and actually live a happy life.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 22, 2022I certainly had my moments of being a jerk as I was moving through life. I was able to find my own path to healing, but this book would certainly have been very helpful. The author is very open in sharing about her jerk moments, interspersed with concrete information and steps to free oneself into being a better person. I hope that people will find this book a good resource.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 26, 2023Loved this book! Author wrote it well and got to the point. Would purchase more from this author!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 3, 2023I love the subject of this book! I have been a jerk a lot of my life and I love how she goes through what being a jerk looks like and how to overcome it!!
This could really be beneficial for people who are regularly unhappy with life!

5.0 out of 5 stars Kindness goes a long way
This was such a wonderful and refreshing read that reminds us about the importance of self-reflection and gratitude through acts of kindness. This is the perfect self-improvement book for readers looking for practical advice and relatable content.

4.0 out of 5 stars A brave and honest insight
This is not, as Alyn puts it, to ‘help you to cure the jerks in your life’ but if you have jerk-like tendencies this might help you overcome them. “But what if people don’t know they are a jerk?“ - Alyn says this is the question she was asked most and is sure you know if you are. She bravely shares her own transformation. I found it an inspiring insight into taking responsibility for your own behaviour. So, even if you have no jerk-like tendencies it will add value to your interactions with others.

1.0 out of 5 stars Platitudes and Preaching
Not a lot of use in this book, and way too much God in my view.
No depth, no substance. Very disappointing.
