Reviews for 'Women in STEM'

"Prepare to be inspired and uplifted! This is a captivating children's book that shines a spotlight on the incredible achievements of four trailblazing women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Through enchanting rhymes and beautiful illustrations, young readers are introduced to the brilliance of Marie Curie, Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy, Wang Zhenyi, and Mary Seacole. Each page radiates with the message that children are capable of greatness and possess the power to change the world."
Abigail, Librarian

"I admit I teared up a bit reading this. Very cute, with a diverse selection of women in STEM, displayed with cute poetry and vocabulary lists! And the end of the book includes interactive bits for the kids - coloring pages and paper crafts. My niece is the perfect age for this; it'll not just expand her vocabulary but her view of the world as well.

Absolutely adorable and the art is beautiful!"

Tabitha

"A wonderful person- just like you! - This book’s refrain was one of my favorite things about it. This was a very engaging anthology of women in STEM. It covered very diverse people with different backgrounds and different time frames. I will say that I was expecting this to be a book for older children, but this was a book aimed for younger audiences like 4-6 year olds. I think this is a great book to set off a spark of fascination for science."

There are quite a few women mentioned in the book and each do a great job highlighting their accomplishments. My kids don’t necessarily appreciate what adversities the women faced because of their gender, but they were definitely impressed by what they read about what they accomplished.

Highly recommend! This book is beautiful, the illustrations are colorful, delicate, and appealing. The women included, some I had not even heard of, and it was a diverse set of women in STEM. I actually learned something from it! This book is fantastic for a wide variety of ages; the rhymes and pretty illustrations will appeal to younger kids, while the details and appealing figures described make a good jumping off point for teaching older kids.

I teach elementary kids reading and if I were still in a regular classroom, I would absolutely use this to kick off a lesson on science and women in STEM. The reading level would be a challenge for younger kids to read independently, but not so advanced they can't following it as a read aloud, and the illustrations help for explaining terms. There's a lot of great vocabulary for older kids, as well.

This is an all around excellent picture book, I love it!

It’s easy to read with meanings of hard words just on the page and a glossary as well! It covered what the women did across time and space and how they challenged the norms of their time. It is a book to share more about science with children and I would highly recommend this to all mothers, especially those with girls—to teach them how to push boundaries and grow beyond the textbook.

This is a well written book about great women in history. It tells short stories about four great women and connects their lives to the reader. Each story has vocabulary that is readily explained. This will make a good addition to my classroom library.

Even though this book is intended for children, I learned about famous women that I had never heard of before. I'm impressed that the author used scientific words for a children's book (and got them to rhyme!) and added a glossary for help in explaining what those words mean. The illustrations help in sharing the story of the lives of these very important historical figures. This book is fabulous for both girls and boys to read, or have read to them.

1st of all the front cover was mysterious looking so I couldnt wait to see inside. As I read on kindle, it was good at first then I got to the next person and got confused. I said to myself there is not intro. This book needs an intro so someone like me know what I'm getting myself into reading it. all good because I got it now :)

Such a clever, delightful way to introduce these four brilliant women to young minds everywhere! Not to mention, an inspired selection of heroines. Aside from Marie Curie, this book features lesser well-known but equally important female figures such as Mary Seacole, the heroic Jamaican nurse; the pioneering Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy from India; and the Chinese astronomer/scientist Wang Zhenyi. The wonderfully illustrated verses are fun to follow and a unique bedtime book to share with your kids, who no doubt will ask for an encore before they tuck in for the night. Bravo!

Ramya has done a fantastic job exploring the topic of Women is STEM. This book is a quick peak into the lives of four women who changed the world through science and devoted their lives to the betterment of mankind. This could be an alternative to the fairy tales that are read to kids while growing up. 5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant book about female empowerment

This is just what I've been looking for. Stories of amazing women, told in a way that makes them accessible and interesting to children. So many books have the right story but are too wordy to be interesting. This one is just right and the way it is set up, you can simply just read one or two stories at a time for children with shorter attention spans. The rhyming is clever and makes it more fun. I read this on Kindle Unlimited, but I'll be ordering a few for gifts too.
