Stock-Picking Revisited Kindle Edition

4.8 out of 5 stars 7 ratings

Is your portfolio keeping up with the Joneses?

That is, is it keeping up with the Dow Jones Industrial Average?

Early in 2021, the DJIA passed 35,000 for the first time. In six or seven years it will double and reach 70,000. Unfortunately, many portfolios will not double by that time because they contain too many securities that are underperforming. You can correct that situation, either as an individual investor or in consultation with your financial advisor. Stock-Picking Revisited explains how to do so.

Obviously, successful investing is based on choosing the right securities to purchase. Money managers develop portfolios by various methods; however, the purpose of this book is not to revisit the old methods, but to present a new method that will beat most, if not all, of them.

This is not a get-rich scheme. I don’t have a method for selecting the next Apple while it is selling for $1.00 per share. Instead, I’ll show how to pick good stocks, mutual funds, and exchange-traded funds (ETF’s), hopefully ones that are good enough to hold forever. If you do, when the DJIA reaches 70,000, you will have doubled your investment.

Wouldn’t that be nice? Happy investing.

I was born in East Texas a long time ago and grew up with a sister and a brother.

At five years old, I found a tattered science book with several pages missing. The first intact page showed a monarch butterfly emerging from a chrysalis. That incident was the "ah-ha moment" that drew me into the world of science.

Upon completing high school, I joined the Air Force and served as a jungle survival instructor in Panama. While in Panama, I wrote a gossip column for the base newspaper and won second place in a short story contest. After that, there was a sixty year gap in my creative writing. Following my military service, I enrolled in Stephen F. Austin State College and got married. After graduating with a degree in biology and chemistry, we moved to Houston where our only child, a son, was born.

After writing for three years in the Air Force, I didn't create any more fiction until I was eighty years old. My first novel, "The Dar Lumbre Chronicles," was published in 2018, and I've been writing ever since. "By Means of Peace" is my third novel, and the next one is simmering on the back burner.

This is helpful. I have gleaned great ideas from this book.
I also have a $5,000 casino account. I have owned Apple since the last split. I bought it and read Steve Jobs biography. I wish I’d started collecting Apple shares 30 years ago.
Thanks for some great stock knowledge and system.

I like the way the author has discussed how he developed and used his own method for selecting stocks to invest in. Different, not complicated, and sounds promising.

Well worth the cost and time.
