When famine visits Bethlehem, Boaz holds out hope for rain while his relative Elimelech moves his wife Naomi and their sons to Moab. For a while, it appears the Lord is blessing Elimelech's family, and his sons marry two lovely Moabite women. But calamities strike, one after another, leaving Naomi alone in a foreign land with only her childless daughters-in-law for comfort. When news reaches Naomi that the famine in Bethlehem has lifted, only Ruth will hazard the journey to her mother-in-law's homeland. Destitute and downhearted, Naomi resigns herself to a life of bitter poverty, but Ruth holds out hope for a better future. And Boaz may be the one God has chosen to provide it.

Combining meticulous research with her endless imagination, Jill Eileen Smith gorgeously renders one of the most beautiful stories in Scripture. Readers will adore this third installment of the inspiring Daughters of the Promised Land series.

From the Back Cover

One devoted woman is about to discover the power of love

When famine visits Bethlehem, some hold out hope for rain, while Naomi and her family make a long journey to Moab in search of greener pastures. The harvest there is plentiful, and for a time it appears the Lord is blessing them. But when calamities strike, one after another, Naomi is left alone in a foreign land with only her widowed daughters-in-law for comfort.

Downhearted and destitute, Naomi is determined to return to Bethlehem alone. But her daughter-in-law Ruth refuses to leave her side. Despite the fact that she and Naomi will almost certainly live out their days in widowhood and poverty, Ruth holds out hope for a better future . . . and maybe even a second chance at love.

Jill Eileen Smith is the bestselling and award-winning author of many biblical novels, including her first series The Wives of King David. Her upcoming release Dawn of Grace, Mary Magdalene’s Story, will hit the shelves in February 2025. After twenty years of closed doors, she has published 24 books, fiction and non-fiction, and had one of those books optioned for film. She loves Jesus and His Word and all things related to learning more about the culture and times of the people of the Book, particularly the women, whom God has immortalized there.

While she loves writing and researching, she is willingly interrupted by her west-coast children and adorable grandchildren. Traveling to Israel was a highlight of her life, but traveling west is her new favorite vacation location. When she’s not packing her bags, she can be found reading stories that take her away, playing too many games and puzzles on her phone (call it down time), or snuggling her lovable, mischievous cats Kody and Kaelee. She has been married to the love of her life for 47 years and counting and lives in a quiet neighborhood in southeast Michigan.

What a well-written novel about Ruth & Boaz! Even though I knew the story of Ruth, Jill Eileen Smith helped to learn much more about the culture of the ANE through this story.

I was introduced to Jill Eileen Smith through a dear friend that gifted The Prophetess, story of Deborah. I devoured it and craved more so I purchased the story of Ruth, Hannah and Rahab.

The Book of Ruth has long been one of my favorites. Jill stays true to Biblical story, history and traditions through obvious knowledge of the Old Testament. I appreciate Jill’s ability to portray Ruth, one of the greatest love stories of all, with devotion, honor and respect. If you love Ruth as much as I, you will not be disappointed.

I highly recommend Jill Eileen’s novels as I plan to include all in my home library. May Mrs Smith find the creative inspiration to capture the story of Susannah in one of her upcoming releases.

This novel set in the time of Ruth really challenged me to see a well known story through the eyes of the people of that time. This easy to read page turner gives us a glimpse into the incredible challenges that Naomi and Ruth would have faced.
Highly recommend, probably more suited to adult women readers. An encouraging story.

Redeeming Grace – the third book in the “Daughters of the Promised Land” series -- is the newest Biblical fiction story by one of my very favorite authors, Jill Eileen Smith. I had been waiting for its release since her last book hit the shelves, and it did not disappoint! In fact, it is my favorite in the series to date!
This beautifully written, thoroughly researched book tells the story of Ruth, Boaz, and Naomi from the Bible’s Old Testament. The story fleshes out the beloved tale of three individuals who were joined together through loss, grief, and ultimately renewal through the grace of our redeeming God. It was so uplifting to follow Ruth, born a Moabite, as she grew in her faith, giving up her hope in false gods to serve and develop a personal relationship with the one true God.
I highly recommend reading this beautifully written book, but be sure to have tissues near at hand. Rest assured you will be smiling through tears as this wonderful story of grace and renewal unfolds.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher, but a positive review was not required. My opinions are entirely my own.

A wonderful retelling of this amazing story of redemption of Ruth, a foreigner in Israel who was chosen to give birth to Obed whose son was Jesse the father of King David and in the line of Jesus himself. I have loved all Jill Eileen Smiths biblical novels and really hope she will continue to write and bring these glorious stories to life.

...it doesn't really give you a sense of what they all went through. Again this book gives you a taste of what they could have went through .It is one of those books in the Bible I have read a few times, but I still found things I hadn't really taken notice of. A lot of research goes into these books and that makes it come alive and believable....
