True Teryn: Sci Fi Adventure of Lilla discovering the greatest secret in the Seven Galaxies (The Last Lumenian Book 2) Kindle Edition
ALL BEGINNINGS COME AT A PRICE. ARE YOU WILLING TO PAY IT?
Lilla must recruit the biggest and most dangerous army in the Seven Galaxies, but the Teryn emperor will not comply unless Lilla earns the blessing of the Teryn Guardian Goddess Laoise.
Dealing with gods is never easy. Guardian Goddess Laoise’s condition for bestowing her blessing is for Lilla to bring her the mysterious Heart Amulet. Now Lilla is trapped in a strange place with no way out, no idea where to go or how to find the amulet.
The only way for Lilla to complete her mission is to uncover the biggest secret of all Teryns. Will she survive discovering the secret of what it means to be a True Teryn?
BOOK OVERVIEW
True Teryn is a fast-paced fantasy novel that will have you flipping pages & saying “just one more chapter.” True Teryn is a wonderful sequel to Lilla’s story & another delightful chapter in an intriguing intergalactic saga. You truly learn much more about the Seven Galaxies’ politics, magic & lore, ancient traditions & cultural norms.
In S. G. Blaise’s 1st installment (The Last Lumenian) Lilla had to accept her true destiny. Now Lilla must convince the leader of a dangerous army, who is also Lilla’s future Father-In-Law, to relinquish control of his army over to Lilla… but not without heavy resistance.
Lilla’s growth as a character is even more prevalent in this science fiction book. She must convince the Teryn’s that the Arch Goddess of Eternal Light & Order needs the Teryn army to join her ranks against the Archgod of Chaos & Destruction. Additionally, Lilla must convince her adversaries that she is worthy of being Sybil to the Last Era War.
Excellent character development is something you can expect in this fantasy sci-fi book. Since most of the characters are familiar due to the 1st book, Blaise further expands on her characters. Blaise is able to add complexity & detail to the characters, which helps create the authenticity of this sci-fi saga.
As for the author herself, Blaise has completed her 2nd sci-fi fantasy book & her beautiful style as an author allows the magic in True Teryn to come alive. She continues to build upon her action sci-fi series with fascinating plot progression, which includes: an action-adventure quest, unlikely alliances, heavy emotions, inspiration from supporting characters & even a small amount of heart-felt alien romance.
Do you need to read the 1st book in this series before reading the 2nd? This young adult book is a perfect blend of being a stand-alone sci-fi book, while also being a sequel. Blaise even added a glossary to the back of this fantasy book, which can help anyone keep up.

About the author

I was born and raised in a faraway land, somewhere in Europe. I wrote my first short story at ten. A terrible nightmare with spider-like creatures inspired me to put my dream to paper. The following day, I read the story to my class and got a positive response (I believe there was clapping). I think adding a joke or two helped.
I didn’t really think at that time that I would be a writer. Frankly, I wasn’t thinking much at that age. . . . not to mention, I really didn’t like to read. I’ll never forget the moment when it all changed. At thirteen, I picked up the book my dad had been trying to convince me to read for years and decided to give it a chance. I read it standing by the bookcase (it was a small book, no more than 200 pages). From that point forward, my passion for books and reading continued to grow. I began to identify my favorite authors and genres. As I write this, I’m wondering what my dad would say. I’m sure it would be, “I told you so.” God bless his soul.
In 2012, a European road trip changed my life forever. It was an amazing experience filled with fun, laughter, and some adventures (namely, driving on a highway without a speed limit). During that trip, I had an idea for a story. You can call it my lightbulb moment. Although English was not my first language, I knew in my gut that I was a writer and would not let anything stand in the way of creating my first book. Other than actually writing it that is. After many exhausting conversations with my very patient husband, he finally said to me, “Stop talking about it and start writing.”
I would never admit it to him, but he was right. I sat down and began writing. Did nothing but write for a month straight until I had 150 pages. My husband read it quite valiantly. After my first attempt at a book, I realized that I needed more guidance to develop my craft. So I attended my first workshop at San Diego Writers Ink. During that workshop, an opportunity was presented – there were two spots open in a Read & Critique group. Without hesitation, I jumped at the chance to join.
The next three years were spent learning my craft via books, conferences and R & C. I must have written five drafts of the story, until the last draft was the one. Another three years involved editors and other publishing consultants reviewing the final version.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 12, 2022I have read Blaise’s first book, The Last Lumenian, and felt that there were many changes in the styles, pacing, prose, and world-building of this book compared to the first.
1) Pacing and Plot Structure:
The first book has a more defined and planned plot that seems to me like a hybrid between a 3-arc structure and a Fichtean curve. In this current book, the author has moved almost entirely to a Fichtean curve. For those who do not know what this is, it is a kind of plot structure used by fast-paced action-driven novels. It uses incrementally more climatic crises leading to more partial resolutions, and so on until the ultimate climax is reached and resolved.
To appreciate Blaise’s second book, read it like a thriller, similar to how one would appreciate J.J Abrams’ Star Trek and Mission Impossible movies. Novel-wise, similar books include The Purple Cloud by M.P. Shiel and The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins.
The novel brings you to the edge, keeps you in suspense, through many battles, action scenes, dramas, and social interactions that continuously renew themselves and bring one forth to an even more climatic crisis until the last battle at the end.
One should note that Blaise’s second book is more tailored towards a certain group of readers: plot-driven, high intensity, focused, action-oriented, and world-building fanatics who love to be at this constant edge of mystery and ominous suspense.
One thing to note is that, as said in my previous review of her first book, I suspect that Blaise intends to use a complex story arc like The Hunger Games, where each book has its resolutions, with a broader over-arching one. After reading this second book, I think hers is a blend between a complex story arc and a serialized one—each book is a continuation of the previous ones, but from the content, it seems Blaise may write, perhaps 5 or 6 books or more, a bit like Ian Fleming’s James Bond series. This means the series will continue for a while more, but it is just my hunch.
2) Content:
While the first book focuses more on the main character’s ambivalence towards taking up her role as the Last Lumenian, this one cements it and brings it forth to the next stage, whereby Lilla attempts to win the favor of Laoise, the Teryn Goddess. This leads to disastrous consequences for Lilla and her companions to overcome.
Overall, the conflict and tension move from the inception of romance and strong interpersonal tensions between many characters and the rebellion to greater solidarity between the main characters. However, a sense of tension and disagreement continuously occurs between them, which propels the story forward in unpredictable ways.
While the first book covers more themes, such as the conflict between individual and society, and the dilemmas of romance, certain subtle gender discourses, and Lilla’s main role as a Sibyl, the current one shifts the locale more towards the adventure itself, which includes the many villains in the process. Therefore, there is a shift from an inward focus to an outward one. Put it simply, the first book has a slightly more character-centric slant, but the second book is far more externally driven on the choices that were made towards the deliberate accomplishment of a goal rather than the relative reactivity of the first up till the latter’s climax (which seems intended for both).
The second book also delivers in terms of the interesting world-building which rivals the first book’s. The metamorphic battle forms, the luminous true spiritual natures of some characters, and certain disembodied forms of life struck me as rather unique.
I also enjoyed the addition of new pictures which were clearly professionally illustrated and adds life to the novel.
3) Prose
This is most probably a deliberate choice by the author.
I noticed that in the first book, the prose was far more florid and sensate, whereas there is a shift in the second book towards a somewhat more functionalist writing style that parallels Ernest Hemingway’s writing. It focuses more on simplicity and clarity.
This works perfectly for her audiences, I suppose, and blends well with her thriller-like plot-driven writing.
However, for me, I always preferred the first book’s florid style, as it was more evocative and shows more deliberate planning put into it. However, the second book’s new stylistic preference is most probably based on choice rather than degrees of merit, which I respect.
4) Other Comments
I believe the deliberate employment of a stream-of-consciousness style of writing by Blaise. This is the method that Stephen King seems to write with. I sensed this because of the shift in the prose to one of spontaneity.
The plot, being more “on the flow” gave me the impression that the author prefers a “seeding” style of writing, as opposed to being a “planner,” like my works. I literally plan everything. Both have their perks: the former demanding fluidity while the other requiring order and reason.
It is always interesting to see how other authors employ different methods to write.
Regardless, these two methods blend well with Blaise’s focus on elevating this work to a thriller of interesting proportions.
The only flaw which I felt could be improved, which I spotted a lot, was the over-use of “I” pronouns in many sentences, where some strings of paragraphs all started with “I”s. I am not sure if this is an effect of her suspected stream-of-consciousness writing style or something else, but it is a minor issue that can be most easily fixed.
Conclusion:
Book 2 has moved towards a more accepting embrace of a thriller-like writing style that still contains many of the complexities of the first book.
Overall, it was a splendid book to add to my collection!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 7, 2023While I enjoyed the book, there were some positives and negatives that battled it out as I was reading. To start with the positive, I really enjoyed the characters. Their interactions were fun and felt like a group of friends. Each character’s backstory was interesting and added to the story in its own way, even if they were more of a secondary character. I also thought it was cool they added a section in there about how the ship they were traveling on functioned. It wasn’t incredibly in-depth but just the perfect amount of dialogue for characters who might otherwise not know about spaceship mechanics.
While the magic system in the book is fairly standard as it has a dark and light side that rely on the elements, like fire, I like the way it was implemented throughout the story. There were slightly different uses and practices throughout the book that were interesting takes on how magic works. There were also a few maps throughout the book and a glossary in the back, both of which were helpful and fun to read. The glossary has a bit of extra commentary too!
There were some negatives that made me stop for a moment as I read. I was not fond of how the Teryns were portrayed as it leaned a bit too heavily on the trope of a warrior society having many people who were possessive, angry, and lived on a dangerous planet. This is all perfectly fine to have, but I felt it could have been dialed back just a small amount. It occasionally made the relationship between two of the main characters – Callum and Lilla – a bit uncomfortable for me to read as there was a lot of jealously from Callum, who is Teryn.
I have it under negative, but it is also a bit of a positive as it made me laugh a lot, but there were a lot of standard English words made Teryn by adding a ‘k’ and apostrophe in front of it. It was both jarring and hilarious in a good way to read things like “k’boar” throughout the book. I did really like that even Lilla’s friends commented as well.
Overall, I like the flow and style of the book. It was fairly fast-paced while still allowing enjoyable filler to be used, like having a chapter dedicated to dinner and everyone playing around. I thought the backstory behind the Teryns and their planet was fascinating and the use of multiple POVs to show then versus now was really well-done. I also enjoyed how there are two major overarching figures, the Archgoddess and Archgod, that constantly have their hands in the characters’ lives, but their focus is still primarily on what they can handle on their level first.
I give this a 4 out of 5. I did really enjoy the book, there were just some moments that were not as interesting or good to me. I would recommend this book to people who like a bit of fantasy with their sci-fi and those who like world-building in their stories.

Blaise’s narrative is full of adventure, political intrigue, and personal discovery, as Lilla navigates complex alliances and confronts her destiny in a universe brimming with conflict and mystery.
Blaise crafts a universe that is expansive and detailed, yet intimately connected to the journey of the characters. Lilla’s growth from a reluctant hero to a true leader is compelling and nuanced, resonating with themes of empowerment and identity.

5.0 out of 5 stars Captivating fast paced read
True Teryn: Sci Fi Adventure of Lilla Discovering the greatest secret in the Seven Galaxies (The Last Lumerian Book 2) by S.G. Blaine is the second in this series. This was also my first taste of the author as well as the series. However I don’t feel I was at a disadvantage and usually not a fan of sci-fi’s found it easy to become immersed in this universe.
The book follows Lilla who in this instalment must recruit the biggest, most powerful army in the seven galaxies, there is a flaw in her plans though when the Teryn emperor will not comply. The only way in which this could work is by Lilla uncovering the biggest secret that the Teryn’s are hiding. Although I’ve not read the previous books, the story flowed well. However I do think that instead of it being as a standalone I would have preferred to have read the first book.
The books plot is fast paced and captivating, with readers attention being kept throughout. I certainly would like to see how this series progresses.

5.0 out of 5 stars A solid sequel!
I’m so happy to be back in the world of The Last Lumenian! I read the first book in this Sci-fi Fantasy series a couple of years ago and I remember I loved the world and the characters. Despite the fact it had been a while since reading the first book, I had no trouble jumping into the second. The author does a good job at placing little tidbits of the events of the previous book through character dialogue or the protagonist’s thoughts, enough to jog my memory.
What I loved about this sequel was the drama between lovebirds Callum and Lilla, and his father, Caderyn. Because Lilla isn’t a Teryn, Caderyn doesn’t want her at his son’s side and he doesn’t recognize her leadership as the Last Lumenian. Lilla has to prove herself, which launches the entire plot that soon turns into a sort of quest. I found it very fun to read, especially thanks to the group surrounding Lilla on this journey. There were some fun dynamics. I also loved the twist at the end, although I would have liked to see more of Callum and Lilla together. I feel like we got so little of them alone.
Excited to see where the series is going!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun read, highly recommended
I didn't read the first book in the series, but I was able to be sucked into the story from the first chapter. I felt the author did a great job of acclimating me to the characters, their relationships, their mission, and the series' universe even though I didn't read the first book.
Lilla is a brave and powerful heroine, but she doesn't fall into the Mary Sue trope. It was nice to see a group of companions whose lives didn't revolve around the protagonist. The different personalities, the world building, the funny dialogue and banter made this an enjoyable read.

4.0 out of 5 stars This review won't contain any spoilers so read with a free mind.
So Book One of this series was very good and if I say, unique. This book itself is like a dream for a fantasy lover like me. I love everything fictional and fantasy, so this was a treat for me. S.G Blaise has that exceptional gift of converting an imaginary graphic scene into a complex yet simple play of words, which when read from the other end again takes the form of a well-orchestrated graphic scene. So let us in a little depth and review the book, shall we?
Also, please read with a peaceful mind this review will not contain spoilers of any kind.
To be honest, when it came to the plot, it was quite predictable but only for those who read the first book. And also I am talking about the overall plot of the whole series up to now. The twists and turns in the plot are a recurring theme in both novels, so true prediction is not so easy. That said, the plot is unique, it combines some of the major 'bigshot' genres of literature, i.e, politics, romance, fantasy, and a little here and there. And, the good part, I love it, it is well balanced. though this book lacks that balancing when it comes to the romance part, I do not know if it was intentional or not, but it would've helped the book to shine more.
The characters were well developed and so meticulously designed. I loved the effort the author put into each of her characters without making it too much overwhelming for all of us. The best way to experience them is to read the books so go ahead.
Lastly, the setting is so rich and vivid, that I want this series to be a graphic novel or a T.V. Show. It makes you feel emersed in the world that the author created for us. Again writing a review will not justify its beauty so go ahead and read it.
In a nutshell, this was a golden pick but I had to deduct a star for some things I felt off but again that was my own opinion; I mean, this book was so good, I cannot help but compare it to the greatest out there. Hence, buy the book, read the series and support the author. Also, thank you to the author for writing a very good piece of literature.
Thank you
