(His)Story of Women:: the ‘Second’ Sex? Kindle Edition

5.0 5.0 out of 5 stars 9 ratings

(His)Story of Women investigates the origins and consequences of the objectification of women to further explain the importance of the empowerment of women to modern societies.
As far as we can remember, women and girls were victims of all sorts of abuse, and this is still the case today in spite of decades of struggle for the defense of women’s rights. Why is it so? Just because we are females!!??? Aren’t we human beings, just like boys and men? Don’t we deserve the same rights, the same respect, and privileges?
The causes and consequences of gender inequality are extremely complex and identify important issues that require knowledge and skills drawn from different disciplines: genetics, anthropology, sociology, biology, history, economics… The quest is fascinating.
The key issues in this book are: 1) to demonstrate, mostly thanks to genetics, anthropology and primatology that women are not intrinsically inferior to men; 2) to explain the historical and social constraints that led to the domination of women by men and their objectification; 3) to insist on the fact that patriarchy depends on the confinement and marginalization of women; 4) last but not least, to demonstrate that women’s empowerment isn’t just about ethics and justice, but also is an essential contribution to the stability and the security of our modern societies. Indeed, considering the various issues posed by globalization, climate change, the demographic explosion… our societies do and will need every skill, creative talent and workforce to meet the challenges ahead. They cannot afford to discriminate against 50% of their population any longer!
I am convinced that women’s rights are much more important than we sometimes tend to think and it is not just about ethics and justice! It is not just a fight against discrimination: it’s a key issue that might determine the resilience of society! Indeed, giving women and girls equal access to education, equal job opportunities and equal wages, as well as protecting their safety and rights; will without any doubt stimulate production, innovation, and performance. Moreover, since they are generally more caring and less aggressive than men, giving equal responsibilities to women will help reduce conflicts and improve governance.
If women’s empowerment is a question of justice, it’s also a key strategic issue which will determine the future of Mankind.

My name is Kacey Kells; I was born in Victoria, BC, Canada, in 1994.I moved to London (with my mom) when I was 17 and now live in Paris. I'm a student in Political Science and Economics, and feel particularly concerned with the contribution of Women Empowerment to Development.

I wrote "KELLCEY" because I was a victim of a sexual assault and I wanted people to know how hard it is to live and survive after such... an aggression. Because the worst comes after, because you're unable to tell or explain... because you feel alone, scared, ashamed. Because no one should suffer such a traumatic event. Because in a balanced society, everybody should feel safe, because everybody deserves respect and protection. Because, beyond our differences (men and women), we're all Human beings!

For the same reason, I wrote "(His)Story of Women: the Second Sex" to analyze the origins and consequences of the objectification of women, and to highlight how important and vital it is for the contemporary soviety to end gender discrimination and to empower women.

This books explains the history of women throughout time. As such, women are still finding it hard to break glass ceilings, and more. Equality among men and women doing the same work, same quality of work, yet women receive less pay. Anything and everything that happens to a woman in each parcel of towns and countries, cities and rual areas are due to women being weak or causing their own hardship. The world can do better. Should the world do better, we might save planet Earth!

“(His)story of Women: The ‘Second’ Sex” by Kacey Kells addresses the many ways throughout history and continuing today in which women are oppressed and objectified in societies all over the world. This is a dark, well-researched, and eye-opening examination of what it is like to be female. But it is also a message of strength, encouragement, and hope for a future in which women achieve the equality that has eluded us for far too long. Bravo, Ms. Kells!

Excellent book! I feel passionate about the women empowerment that this author is conveying. So many females are targeted by predators when they are young and their parents & culture are not preparing them for what’s to come. Then later when they start dating there is predators in relationship form. I appreciated her theme of feminism, awareness & empowerment. Thank you Kacey for writing this amazing novel Kacey. We need more Kacey’s in the world. Tear. I am going to follow her Twitter.

(His)Story of Women looks at how women have been treated over time and why it's important to empower them now. The book talks about the problems women face, like abuse, and explains that women shouldn't be treated unfairly just because they are female. It says that women have the same rights as men and deserve respect. The book explores why things have been unfair to women historically and shows that empowering women is not just about being fair; it's crucial for our society's stability and safety. It argues that women can contribute a lot to solving global issues, and treating them equally benefits everyone. Overall, the book strongly says that women's rights are not just a matter of fairness but are essential for a better future.
