Saving Prophecy: A Christian Romance (A Sinclair Island Christian Horse Romance Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 92 ratings

The problem mare destroyed his first relationship. Will she do it again?

Emma has sworn off horses, after the unjust firing from her equestrian job.

Fulton has sworn off women who love horses, after his girlfriend left him with a long scar and a mean mare called Prophecy.

Emma’s move to remote Sinclair Island lands her next door to Fulton. The two neighbors have nothing to do with each other, until disaster strikes and Fulton is forced to solicit Emma’s help with his horses.

But his open hatred for Prophecy bothers her and she asks to retrain the dangerous animal before he sends her to auction. It’s the mare’s only chance of going to a good home.

Reluctantly Fulton gives in and during those daily training sessions, he falls in love with his attractive neighbor. But the pretty black horse has already stolen her heart, and Fulton realizes he’s again fallen for a woman who cares more about horses than him. He becomes even more determined to get rid of the mare.

Emma is devastated; she now understands her true feelings for Fulton. Her only hope of winning him back is to sacrifice the horse she adores to prove she loves him.

But can she bring herself to surrender Prophecy? Can Fulton conquer his deep distrust of women who love horses?

About the Author

British born bestselling author Hilary Walker writes uplifting Christian fiction that transports readers into the healing world of horses. She lives on Hilton Head Island with two British bulldogs and her husband, who hopes she'll get interested in golf. No luck so far.

Instead she rides competitive dressage on her homebred Welsh cross gelding, and enjoys taking him on the trails.

Horses captivated Hilary as a seven-year-old. Decades later, they still do. When her father replaced the family television with a book allowance for her and her brother, he was hoping they’d buy the classics. Hilary bought books on horses.

Every spare moment was spent in the attic, losing herself in the enchanting worlds of Ruby Ferguson’s Jill Books and the complete series of Flicka by Mary O’Hara, among others. She also purchased multiple tomes on horse care and obsessed about owning a pony.

Hilary also managed to almost fail English in school – somewhat unusual training for a future best selling author.

Happily, her childhood dreams were realized, and she has owned many horses. Her current equine soulmate, Cruz Bay, is a homebred Thoroughbred Welsh Cob cross. She competes with him in dressage and aspires to joining The Century Club one day, where the combined ages of horse and owner add up to one hundred!

Hilary’s Christian faith was growing at the same time as her riding skills improved and she rediscovered the ultimate goal: getting to Heaven. Her writing combines the beauty of horses with the truth of the Gospel and she hopes her books will encourage readers to join her in striving for that goal.

A note for readers of her Catholic books: The traditional Latin Mass is not available where she lives, so Hilary attends the Novus Ordo Mass at her local parish church, which is blessed with three holy priests who celebrate it with reverent devotion.

This book has a little of everything. This is one time that getting fired was good for Emma. She buys a new house, sells her old one, meets her new dog, meets her new neighbor Fulton, his barn burns, Emma saves the horses and meets the mare. Talk about a busy new life and maybe love. Oh yes and she learns about life in a small town which is an island. Everyone knows everyone else's business. She offers her barn to Fulton to house his horses until he can build a new one. OK the suspense kicks in on who/what caused the barn to catch fire. A faith in God and each other ultimately wins out.

The author really weaves this story around all of this in a great way. I look forward to reading more about other people on this same island. You won't be sorry if you purchase this book.

I choose the rating because I loved the story, the characters and the animals, all of them. I liked how it began with a visit to the animal shelter and the adoption of two dogs that had been overlooked. I loved the chemistry between Emma and Fulton. I would recommend the book to anyone who likes clean romance and animals

Loved this clean Christian romance that was well written with heart and soul. Started reading and couldn’t stop so completed in one sitting - what better way to spend a lazy summer day. This is a new author that I found on a bookfunnel giveaway and I look forward to reading more. Am not a horse person, but have a sister who is, and this gave me a little insight into that world. Highly recommend.

Loved the start of this new series. It was the mix of a wonderful location, horses, a sound Christian basis, not to forget a baddy had me enjoying this book to the last page. The love interest between Emma and Fulton with so many misunderstandings and tensions was the icing on the cake. I'm really looking forward to the next one!

I decided on a change from the usual thriller, cozies and detectives. Romance typically isn't my cup of tea. However, I do love horses and all animals, as well as Christian books. Thus I just finished a Christian love story with a wonderful in danger of being sold. I really enjoyed it.

A good storyline about the horses, but Emma and Fulton never seem able to trust each other's motives in even the simplest things. Can't believe their relationship would ever last.

    And for me, who does not normally read or even like Modern books, this was a really good book. Probably because I really like horses which is what this book is basically about - a horse named Prophesy. But there is gradually a romance develops but only after his hurts, his scar, etc. One thing after another happens - but in the long road, they bring everything together. Often how God works without most of us realizing it. {No nothing preachy, as some might say. Just a female who tried to live as God wanted her to and she does pray some.}
