About the author

Ann Stang is the author of 11 Christian cozy mysteries and romcoms. Her motto is there’s a mystery around every corner – or there ought to be. She starts with a whodunnit, adds a little romance, sprinkles in clean humor, (and usually a dog), and voila! A novel that everyone can enjoy. Her three children's books add to the fun.
Married with five children and fifteen grandchildren, she hangs out with her dachshunds most of the day. They’re willing to listen if she reads snatches of her current work in progress and only give each other looks when she won’t notice.
Living in the Ozarks, she divides her time between her family and her hobbies, including her love of 40s and 50s noir and her severe coffee addiction. Also on SWG Goodreads.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2018I loved this book! I read a lot, and only leave reviews for really good books! (I have never left a negative review; if the book is that bad, I just delete it after a few chapters or pages. Or paragraphs. Yes, I am picky.)
The author has such an engaging style. It felt like "Annika" was a real person, describing real experiences. "Annika" felt like a close friend, one not afraid to share her most embarrassing moments, which were really funny, since they happened to her instead of to me. I kept telling myself I didn't have to feel guilty for laughing at her predicaments, since she is fictional, after all. Then again , I wonder, Ann Stang, did some or all of these events happen to you and you are merely recording them rather than creating them in your imagination? Either way, your book is very entertaining.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 18, 2024This was such a fun book! Unlike anything I have read before- such a clever and unexpected concept. It was witty in a good way, and very charming and satisfying. I read it as an “in-between” book from heavier topics, but it’s not a forgettable book. I will be looking for more by Ann Stang.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 20, 2017This faux blog was a hoot, I read parts aloud to my husband who also laughed. He mostly tolerates my Christian romantic fiction obsession but agreed this one sounded fun. No he won't read it but appreciated the humor.
Annika is 30, not married or dating- her family convinces her they will "help" and she documented the up downs and all arounds of the process. I just downloaded Ann Stang's other book on Amazon- hoping lightning or at least laughter strikes twice!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 20, 2024I wasn't impressed at first with the format of the book. The entire book is written as if you're reading the blog entries. I wasn't a fan in the beginning, but then I suddenly found myself invested and couldn't put it down. The blogs were very general in their writing, and I found myself missing the details that authors usually add. The ending also wrapped up quickly..leaving me wanting more. Overall, I really enjoyed the storyline! It was a quick and easy read full of interesting twists and turns.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2023Although I guessed who she would end up with, I did find her stream of blind dates very amusing. You will too, unless like some of her dates, you lack a sense of humor.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 5, 2023I got drawn into this story right away. Annika had some interesting experiences on her blind dates. I hated for the story to end.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 24, 2020This is a fun book about a 30 year old’s (Annaka’s) misadventures in dating as she and her family race to beat her clock to matron-dom. In many ways, the humor of the situations reminds me of “Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine” by Gail Honeyman, though with a different take. If you liked Eleanor, then you’ll love Annika.

3.0 out of 5 stars 3.25 - light and funny
3.25 stars - read via Kindle
I needed a light and funny book after a DNF. This was definitely comical and made me smile and laugh numerous times. Kudos for that.
I’ve never been on a blind date. Frankly, I’m particularly thankful for that fact in this moment, even though I know that one person couldn’t have THAT many horrible blind dates. Ummmm…. Right??!!! Thankfully I’ve been married nearly three decades so I won’t have to experience it.
Though it was pretty clear where the book l was headed - or should I say to WHOM - there was not a lot of substance to the book. After a few dates, it just felt a bit like Groundhog Day. You wanted to just lock the two in a room and leave them to figure it out. However, I wanted light and funny.
I found the MC to sometimes be rude, argumentative, and condescending several times in her blog. She also said she wanted to be with a Christian many times. Yet faith wasn’t really an issue or a discussion on her dates. While I realize it was mainly a bunch of first dates, with a few repeats, it didn’t seem to be a concern. Also, her talking about her work stuff (the balancing issue) was really stomping on the line of professionalism and confidentiality. Fake names and such are one thing but it’s still a public blog.
Overall it was a fun book and it filled a need at the time. Sometimes light and funny are what a person requires.
