4.3 out of 5 stars 277 ratings

Welcome to CHRONICLES OF THE WESTBROOK BRIDES, a dazzling new series by USA Today bestselling author Collette Cameron featuring the Westbrook family. If you're a fan of the Bridgerton series, you'll love getting to know the Westbrooks.

A matriarch, sends forth an urgent, enigmatic summons, beckoning her family to their ancestral home for Christmas...

The indomitable Libby Westbrook, Dowager Duchess of Latham, decides this Christmas might be her last. In a bold move and using the clever ruse of an urgent, undisclosed crisis, she summons her descendants to the grand ducal estate in Cumberland. The Westbrook family, bound by an inexplicable force, finds themselves compelled to heed the matriarch's call...

The eight Westbrook siblings, each immersed in their own lives, now face a journey back to their roots. Despite deep-seated rivalries, pressing personal matters, and risky romantic entanglements, they converge upon their ancestral home. As the holiday spirit spreads, the siblings find themselves enveloped in an atmosphere of reconciliation and good will.

Is it the magic of Christmas or something more? Rumors of Grandmama's Roma gypsy ancestry and mystical abilities swirl throughout the Westbrook home. By the season's end, hearts mend, bonds reignite, spirits uplift, and the Westbrooks rediscover that the essence of any season is the joy of family being together.

From the Author

Dear Reader,

MIDNIGHT CHRISTMAS WALTZ is the prequel to
Chronicles of the Westbrook Brides series. For readers who enjoy close-knit family series like Bridgerton, you will adore the characters I introduce you to in this Christmas novella.

Grandmama, Elizabeth (Libby) Westbrook, the Dowager Duchess of Latham, is growing any younger, and she longs to be surrounded by her family for one final Christmas. Not above scheming, she sets in motion a plan to bring not only her eldest son, the duke's eight children to her ancestral home, but her other five children and their offspring. The mansion overflows with Westbrooks, laughter, fun, and chaos—Grandmama is overjoyed and quite pleased with herself.

In MIDNIGHT CHRISTMAS WALTZ, you meet Adolphus, Lucius, Leonidas, Layton, Althelia, Fletcher, and twins Darius and Cassius, the first of the Westbrooks whose tantalizing historical romances come next in the series. I don't want to give too much away about these fascinating characters, but you catch a glimpse into each of their personalities in this Christmas story.

MIDNIGHT CHRISTMAS WALTZ is a heartwarming tale about forgiveness, love, holiday fun, and most of all, family.

I hope you enjoy this introduction to the Westbrooks. Let me know what you think by reviewing the book.

Hugs and Happy Reading,

Collette

A delightful introduction to a new series
🎄 Midnight Christmas Waltz🎶 A Sweet Regency Historical Romance Chronicles of the Westbrook Brides Prequel ✒️ Collette Cameron 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Will all the siblings be able to attend her intriguing summon… A lovely introduction to a new series, and while it is an open book as after having quickly portrayed some of the future books’ protagonists, nothing is really said about their significant other half, it ends on a cute note with the parents enjoying the holidays with all their offsprings reunited for the first time since long. I am now quite eager to read the first books in this new series narrating the love stories of these siblings and their relatives. 5 stars for this sweet holidays vignette in a large family reunion. I was thrilled to hear Collette Cameron created a new series, Chronicles of the Westbrook Brides, and her prequel Midnight Christmas Waltz is the perfect introduction!

What do you do when your five- and eighty-year-old grandmama requests your presence at Christmas and says it a life and death matter? You figure out a way to make it to Grandmama’s house in time for the holiday. This is exactly what Libby Westbrook, Dowager Duchess of Latham, did to her children and grandchildren.

This prequel was a change in writing for Ms. Cameron as she gives us a sneak-peak into the main characters, each having their own chapter. This was a fantastic method to introduce a delightful new family of characters. Besides Libby, we meet her children including Garth, the Duke of Latham who will celebrate his five- and sixtieth birthday on Christmas, his lovely wife Margaret, their eight children, his siblings, and some of their children. It is quite a house party once everyone arrives! Some family conflicts are resolved while there are indications of others.

This is a well-written novella that easily sets the tone for what we can look forward to in the rest of the series. Handsome, charming, daring, fiercely loyal rogues willing to fight for their family. The story is complete with Collette Cameron’s witty dialogue, laughter, romance, and a touch of intrigue we have come to expect. The author did an amazing job of creating a holiday feel in the book, including a wonderful snowball fight between cousins. I hope you enjoy the book as much as I did. I cannot wait to read the next book! Thank you to the author for an Advanced Reader Copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This delightful prequel introduces the reader to the Westbrook family , a large brood of Aunts, Uncles and cousins. There’s the spunky old Grandmama that manages to bring the whole family together at Christmastide for her son, the Duke of Latham, on his 65th Birthday. He and his wife have eight children between them, all boys and one baby Princess. None of them are married, so there promises to be lots of romance coming in future stories. In this story we learn the family dynamics, personalities and occupations of each sibling. I look forward to seeing each one fall in love and find their HEA. It’s going to be a fun series!

When eighty-four-year-old Libby Westbrooke decides it’s time the family, the whole family to be together for Christmas, she summons them, and they come, all of them. I love the way this prequel introduces the family and the new series. Several members of the family, including Grandmama, give some insight to the family and the stories to come. It will be fun to watch as the Westbrooke brides will dance the Midnight Christmas Waltz.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Each chapter gives us a bit more knowledge about the character and how they fit into the family. I look forward to reading more.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best ever series starter
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 7, 2022
Wow! The whole story is a prologue. A teaser for the new series about the Westbrook family, every new chapter is written with a different character’s point of view. A novel idea. Actually a genius of an idea!
The Dowager Duchess of Latham summons her large family to the fold for Christmas. What does it matter if the wording in her summons suggests that this might be her last Christmas? It works. They all return home, even if that means coming from America. (She wrote her letter in June so the letters managed to find their way to each recipient.)
And the characters who are likely to feature in their own books in due course? An intriguing lot for sure. I am going to have to be patient to read more of them, I guess. But, if this is anything to go by, this new series is going to be wonderful, because this series introduction is a masterpiece. Truely.
