When Hannah left her parents' ranch over ten years before, she believed she would never return. After all, she had found her prince in a pick-up truck and they were going to live happily ever after.
Fast forward to the present time, she finds herself trudging along an abandoned Wyoming road in the middle of a spring snow storm after leaving her washed-up rodeo star in Las Vegas. She was going back to the ranch she had left in hopes she could find forgiveness in her father's eyes.
With her rental car in the ditch, she thought she'd never make it home alive until a truck pulls up beside her bearing the logo of her father's ranch. Relieved, she approaches the truck only to find her nemesis. Luke Blackstone. And he's even more domineering than he was when they were growing up.
As Hannah slips back into the ranch life--as Luke's employee--she manages to get herself in trouble more than once. And it seems the brooding foreman Luke Blackstone is always the one there to save her.

Teresa Keefer was chosen by her adoptive parents in Warsaw, Indiana and has remained in Indiana all her life. She currently resides in rural Indiana with a menagerie of dogs, cats and goats after a family of greedy raccoons ate all her chickens on a hot Saturday night. She has three beautiful adult daughters and seven fantastic grandchildren who all live a hop, skip and a jump away from her.

Holding an MBA from Indiana Institute of Technology, she has spent the last 30 years in the human resources profession. In her spare time—what little there is—she can be found doing a variety of crafts, cooking, studying the paranormal, making organic remedies, and barefoot gardening. Her bucket list is quite extensive, and she is determined to mark off every item—as she adds two more for each one accomplished.

I've read several books from this author now and all of them have been very different. This one is more of a coming home romance. It takes place on a ranch, which was a unique setting for me to read about as I typically read paranormal stories. Hannah has made mistakes as youth as many of us do and when she returns home, though she finds everyone happy to have her home, they also like to remind her she made mistakes, especially Luke. I found Luke's personalty left a lot to be desired in the way he treated Hannah, knowing what she went through and considering how he felt about her, he could have been kinder. What I think is charming is that while at first they bring out the worst in each other, there is still that feeling of hope that they will bring out the best in each other. I don't want to spoil how things end up so I won't say one way of the other. It was a sweet read and I felt a real attachment to Hannah, who I don't think deserved the brat label at all. She owned her mistakes and did everything to make them right. I look forward to reading more from this author. Anyone who likes romance with a country flare should really enjoy this.

Hannah left her family's ranch suddenly. She fell in love with one of the rodeo guys and made impulsive decisions. Ten years later she's had enough of his treatment and she's headed home. When her car runs off the road in a storm she has to walk. Grateful when a pick up comes along, she isn't happy when she finds the man who she can't stand.
Luke isn't please with Hannah, he thinks she's just a spoiled brat that'll run away again when given the chance. He'll put her to work on her father's ranch, but he doesn't have to like it. Luke has worked hard to take over his own fathers position as ranch foreman and he won't let her get in his way.
I loved the spirit Hannah had. She put up with way too much from her soon to be ex husband. At the same time she wasn't willing to take anything from Luke. Maybe that was the difference. I loved the transformation once she came home and settled back into ranch life. Her relationships at home need work because of the way she left and the lack of communication over the years.
Luke seemed very angry with Hannah all the time. I wanted to strangle him at times for the things he said to her. I enjoyed seeing him change the longer she was home. He was more protective than he let on and his harsh words were more cover to keep her at a distance.
This is a new to me author and what a way to start. I loved her writing style and there was just the right amount of drama. I enjoyed the fact that we weren't thrown into a bunch if sex scenes, it was written right for the situation and that made it a joy to read.
