A story of growth
From the beginning of this series, readers were led to believe Slick was a loose cannon. Someone who allowed her emotions to get the best of her. But the masterful way the author curated this series, we learn the 1st two books show Slick through the eyes of her father, Smoke, and then from her brother's, Maestro's, POV. Slick is misunderstood. She is a woman who suffered an unimaginable loss at an early age, and is navigating life as best as she can. It doesn't help that her father and brother don't understand, and have hardened their hearts, seemingly out of the guise of protecting her or themselves. She's a woman, and Malachi was the man who knew exactly how to treat her. I knew it would take a hard man to show her softer side, and he brings it out with ease. Their attraction was FELT!! A GREAT STORY!!

This book, Slick (book 3 of the Enigma series), was the most emotional and introspective of all the books in the series, and I absolutely loved it.

Sarai Lewis (aka Slick) is the daughter of Elijah 'Smoke' Lewis, and the younger sister of Eli 'Maestro' Lewis. Although she is a part of the family 'business' and also owner of her own sex stores, she is also known as the quick-tempered hothead who will cut you without remorse. But behind that image is a beautiful young lady who feels cast aside by her father, ridiculed and talked down to by her brother, and unwanted by her mother who abandoned her and Eli when she was only 2 or 3.

Feeling unlovable and alone, since both her father and brother have found true love, Sarai is faced with bogus drug charges after a search of her business by the DEA, and as a result, Eli takes her to the law firm that handles the family's legal affairs. Enter Malachi Montgomery. They both feel instant attraction, but remain focused on the matters at hand, which works for a while, until it doesn't.

After Sarai and Malachi have their first meeting and get the matter handled, her brother asks her how does being happy look for her, and she replies that happiness isn't for her. But one should never say never. Through elegant events, dangerous acts, and mental/emotional breakdowns, Malachi sticks by Sarai through it all, even when others don't understand. Sarai comes to realize that Malachi is her safe place, her home and finally finds peace.

Although this book ends the series, I do hope this isn't the last we see of Smoke, Maestro, and Slick because it's finished yet not, so I think we need more! Kudos to Aja for a penning a young woman's beautiful journey to love, fulfillment, and peace.

Wow! What a way to end this series! We were able to see and truly understand who Slick aka Sarai was! Yes, she was troubled, felt abandoned and unloved and I though a little lost! But, she was still true to herself! Through issues beyond her reach, she lands in trouble, but this time, trouble leads to an attorney who has and gets the opportunity to “see” both Slick and Sarai, and show her real trust and real love for her just as she was!!

Yes, there was drama, mayhem, tears, anger, sadness, family issues, counseling sessions and then love that calmed down both Smoke and Maestro, love that saved Sarai and understanding and trust that brought this family together! I know this is the end, but I would have loved for all of the siblings to have met each other before this was over!! But then, if you know this Beautiful Author named Aja Graves, you never know if this could become a reality further down the road of her own literary journey! 🥰

Listen, if you haven’t already read this entire series, then you are truly missing out! And if you’ve read Smoke’s and Maestro’s stories, jump on into Slicks story. You will be so glad you did! If you don’t know by now, I thoroughly enjoyed this and highly recommend it!! Aja, Kudos and More Kudos to You!! 💜💜

Sarai and Malachi. This was a great addition to the criminal underworld Enigma Series (Book 3) a check-in with another pivotal member of the Lewis clan. This story was everything I’d hoped for - hot, sexy with the tempestuous Sarai and her perfect ‘sexy lawyer’ love match - ‘his fineness’ Malachi. Malachi quickly becomes the right kind of down brother at the right time, strong enough to handle Sarai’s kind of mess, not to underestimate her strength of character and her brokenness. A dude from a warm, solid family background capable of balancing out Sarai’s lack of ‘conventional’. Malachi sees her pain, her emotional neglect and trust issues and bears it … all. Despite the madness that comes with it, he keeps chipping away at her outer armour, determinedly reaching for her heart. Sarai and Malachi’s connection is all that !! Trust me, this author delivers both in terms of the sensual writing, the fast paced action and the plot twist I certainly didn’t see coming. Loved it! Highly recommended.

Malachi brought the love and understanding to this read. Slick is still not my favorite and I'm sure she was trying but eh. I still love the series!

First, I loved Slick’s story. She was carrying so much resentfulness, sadness, and not to leave out abandonment issues. No wonder she was slicing and dicing folk without giving it a second thought. Thank goodness for Malachi and therapy!
Sarai’s character was so well-written. Aja really gave us a well-rounded character in Sarai(Slick). She is strong, smart, good looking, yet flawed. We are privileged to watch her deal with dangerous situations, rough therapy sessions, and come through a changed woman, and Malachi is right there with her every step of the way! So are Eli and Smoke. The story’s climax is sensational!
This Enigma Series has been engrossing, entertaining and unforgettable. I highly recommend it! You can thank me later
