The Cyborg with No Name (Cyborgs on Mars) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 1,432 ratings

Can a wounded cyborg help an isolated scientist remember her own humanity?

Dr. Rose Abbott is the cybernetic engineer who created the robot horses used in the efforts to terraform Mars. Disgusted by the way her creations are treated by the GenCon Corporation, she chooses to leave her work behind and live in isolation.

Then one of her horses finds her and leads her to an injured cyborg ranger - one with no memory. She reluctantly decides to take the big male, who she nicknames Roy, back to her home to heal.

All Roy can remember is cold and pain. But the prickly little scientist taking care of him begins to thaw his frozen heart, awakening feelings he never thought to have. He is determined to protect her – even from his unknown past.

With the help of a robot horse and a cybernetic dog, can two wounded souls find peace in each other’s arms? Or will Roy’s past threaten the new life he is hoping to build?

Each book in the Cyborg on Mars series can be enjoyed as a standalone romance. This sweet and steamy science fiction romance is intended for mature readers. A version of this story was previously published in the Pets in Space 6 anthology.

USA Today bestselling author Honey Phillips writes steamy science fiction romance about hot alien warriors and the Earth women they can’t resist. From abductions to invasions, the ride might be rough, but the end always satisfies.

Honey wrote and illustrated her first book at the tender age of five. Her writing has improved since then. Her drawing skills, unfortunately, have not. She loves writing, reading, traveling, cooking, and drinking champagne - not necessarily in that order.

This story was nice and sweet. And like all the characters that honey Phillips does this female character was smart and strong and brave and independent. As for the male lead with the given name of Roy, he was sweet, kind and innocent. Their mutual attraction for each other becomes very apparent when she gets close to him. I don't want to give the story away, but it's a nice read and it has a good ending. I've always loved the horses in the story. And because I love dogs, I have a soft spot for little Otis as well. I hope she can expand more on this series. I have both of her box sets for her cyborgs on Mars series. I hope she continues to build it out. I would like to know what happens to the new cyborgs that come tomorrow and the settlers that settle there at the new culture under the judge. Thank you honey Phillips for another sweet read.

I have the audiobook box set 1 which I really enjoyed, I hope there’s the same narrators for box set 2. I read this one, the whole series has such a creative and unique concept. I honestly didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I do. This one didn’t feel long enough and you have to just go with the insta love. I didn’t feel like there was as much of a connection built between the two main characters as previous books in the series but still enjoyed the storyline. The horses are awesome and now the addition of the dog Otis . I love when books add in pets or animals.

This was a fantastic short story set in the wild sci-fi West of Mars and one of my very favorite series by honey Phillips. An isolated Scientist Rose is disillusioned by the world and people around her. She once worked for Gen Corp and was the scientist who created the mechanical horses the Rangers use. She loved everyone of them and was angry at the way they were being treated. Series she left and lives in a remote area of Mars. As she workd on her new project a cute mechanical dog something unexpected happens. A plumb of dust brings one of her beloved horses to her and she follows him on an adventure. At the end of the ride she finds a cyborg badly hurt and brings him home . Rose names him Roy and as he heals they grow closer. She tries to help him remember how he got hurt and as they try to unravel the mystery they grow closer and closer trust grows and so does love . You will love this novella it's perfect addition to the series. I loved it!.

A very good short story set in the cyborgs on Mars world. Rose designed and built the robotic horses that worked on Mars. After a nasty dust storm she saw how one big horse had protected the others from the danger. Her horses were becoming sentient. When pressure was put on her by the company, rather that doing things their way, she quit and moved out in the boonies. She has a good life there by herself working on Otis, her robotic dog. Then one of her horses comes to her and manages to get her to go with him. She finds an injured cyborg.
I really like this series. The old west themes, robotics, and the connection between a cyborg and a human. I enjoyed reading of Rose's initial fear of the cyborg with amnesia, her taking care of and naming her cyborg Roy, why is Roy not healing, danger and a HEA.

The plot was minimal, and very transparent. Understandable as it's a novelette. And the horse and dog were the best part.

    Roy and Rose

Rose was the scientist who created the cyborg horses for Mars, but long after she has left Gencon, she is surprised when one of the horses comes galloping to her for help with his cyborg.
When the cyborg awakes, he has no memory, so Rose calls him Roy- and she needs to find a way to help him regain his memory, so they can figure out what happened to him…

This book actually sits outside of the timeline established for the rest of the series, though we do catch a glimpse of a certain scarred ranger and his scarred horse (the horse we actually see a few times), so although it reads best when you’ve read the series and have come to know and love the horses and cyborgs, it is a standalone in this world.

This is a sweet and sexy romance, with a smart scientist heroine, and an injured hero. Like all good Westerns, the cowboy has a horse and a dog- though since it is on Mars they are a little different! Plenty of Easter eggs to be found for those who enjoy Westerns (especially Clint Eastwood ones), but it’s an enjoyable, quick read for the cyborg loving sci-fi romance enthusiast.

Dr. Rose Abbott created the horses for the rangers on Mars, she felt they were developing their personalities. When one showed up at her property wanting her to come with him, she knew she was right. He took her to where his ranger was. The ranger had been seriously injured. He had lost his memory. All he could remember was the letter R when she asked him his name. Rose named him Roy.
Roy needed to find out where he was. He was so weak. All he could say was Please, no more experiments.
Follow Rose and Roy as she tries to help him heal and he tries to remember how he got hurt. This is one of my favorite stories that Ms. Phillips wrote. Love, acceptance and Guaranteed HEA!!!

It was a nice history, with perfecting pacing, right until the main characters first exchanged "I love you"s. Even though they were getting closer at that point, I felt the sentiment came out of nowhere. There wasn't even internal monolog from either of then about possibly loving the other.
I feel the "love" wasn't a natural progression here, just a way to advance the narrative.
