LUCINDA BRANT is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of award-winning Georgian historical romances and mysteries. She writes about families, creating worlds that are full of history, heart, and Happily Ever Afters.

Lucinda has university degrees in history, politics, law, and a post graduate degree in education. Now a full-time writer, she has had many careers: university administrator; selling merch at rock concerts; mentor to first year medical students; and history and geography teacher at an exclusive boarding school for young ladies.

    Non è semplice caratterizzare i personaggi, soprattutto quando questi diventano protagonisti di ben due romanzi a distanza di tempo. La gioventu' e il periodo piu' maturo di una duchessa vengono descritti con molto garbo. In questo libro si ritrova la protagonista del primo, in un momento in cui la vita l'ha messa a dura prova. Rimasta vedova trovera modo e forza di rialzarsi. Davvero bello e di avvincente lettura

    E' un buon romanzo, non ottimo, ma che ben riporta i momenti inglesi del periodo. Forse è un pò un racconto esagerato sulla bellezza di una donna e dei vari ninnoli che circondano la sua vita.

    Praticamente la maggior parte dei personaggi a cui mi ero affezionata di più è morta. Vabbè, a parte questo ci sta benissimo come seguito, non è stucchevole per niente, ovviamente ci sono dei punti di romanticismo, ma ci stanno benissimo.
    Nonostante tutto il grande amore di Antonia e Renard resta, eppure c'è un cambiamento, la Brant è riuscita a tenere tutto il gioco in maniera magistrale.
    Come sempre piccole pecche di battitura e traduzione, secondo me dovute alla distrazione, comunque si legge benissimo lo stesso.

    ATTENZIONE SPOILER

    Ho dovuto aspettare poco più di un anno per leggere questo terzo capitolo della saga Roxton. Ho adorato la storia di Antonia, Duchessa di Roxton, e di Monseigneur le Duc e non riuscivo, assolutamente, ad affrontare un libro dove si parlava del nuovo amore della Duchessa. Ho dovuto far passare un po’ di tempo per abituarmi all’idea, adesso ero pronta e ho potuto apprezzare anche questo romanzo della Brant che non smentisce la sua bravura e che meriterebbe maggiore considerazione.
    La Brant è riuscita a parlare di questo secondo amore con tatto, senza farlo prevaricare sul primo:

    ”Io sarò sempre sposata a Monseigneur.”
    “Tesoro, sono perfettamente conscio che in un matrimonio con voi saremo sempre in tre che dovrò dividervi per sempre con Monseigneur, ma sono d’accordo di accettare una situazione simile perché vi amo e vi voglio nella mia vita.”

    Con la lettura di questo romanzo si vive un turbinio di emozioni. Su tutti il dolore della Duchessa per la perdita dell’amatissimo marito, poi il grande fastidio, per il trattamento che la povera Antonia riceve dal figlio (mi ha stupito questa scarsa sensibilità di Julian, nei confronti della madre; a volte mi è sembrata abbandonata a se stessa da tutta la famiglia) e per la pressione che subiva da Jonathon che, all’inizio, non aveva proprio delle buone intenzioni nei suoi confronti (e poi io ero prevenuta dal pregiudizio).
    Poi c’è un susseguirsi di dolcezza, malinconia, passione, commozione e divertimento.
    Da apprezzare la precisione storica in cui è ambientato il romanzo (io conosco solo una scrittrice che riesce a fare meglio in questo senso, la Gabaldon).
    Purtroppo, ancora una volta, bisogna rimarcare tantissimi refusi.
    E adesso sotto con il quarto (ma prima, forse mi rileggo i primi due ^^).
    Concludendo, posso dire che trovo terribile il cambio di stile delle cover?
