If you have ever considered writing, don't start until you have read "Writer's Success Secrets". This unique book is a compilation of ideas by those who have become successful writers.

It starts with Adam Houge's step by step guidance, similar to Google directions, steering you toward your goal. Ruth Snyder and Michelle Bybel compliment this approach with specific, targeted guidance. How do you handle rejection? Read the suggestions by Allison Hong Merrill. If you're starting later in life, check out Marlene Cheng.

The author that first drew me to this book, Bill McGinnis, brings his experiences running white water rivers to his exciting adventure novels that are equal to Ian Fleming's famous James Bond novels.

Motivation, dedication, experience, passion, technique, state-of-mind, expertise, creativity, relevance, understanding your reader, focus, uniqueness, enthusiasm, keywords,

Don't get discouraged until you have listened to the recommendations of 22 successful writers. Absorb their experience, savor their suggestions and benefit from this unique opportunity.

This book lacks a preface or an introduction. It is 15 different writer’s essays about what made them successful that are not arranged in any particular order. That said, most new writers will find several very worthwhile reads here. I especially liked the practical suggestions in Adam. Hogue’s chapter such as, “The optimum price range is to launch your e-book at $ 0.99 then raise the price to whatever is acceptable in your genre….” He goes on to explain the Lon-term benefits of such a strategy.

Allison Hong Merrill’s 15 year, 149 rejection later success story, on a human interest level was stunning and humbling.

I might reread and start following Sara McDermott Jain’s tips on learning screenwriting to write better novels.

I didn’t finish the first chapter before I knew this was a much-needed book to be kept as a reference manual – and I’ve published 3 books! It is packed with timeless and timely advice and wisdom which I’ll be applying to my 2 books that are in the pipeline. I found Chapter 13, “You’re the Cover”, by Pamela Ackerson particularly timely when basic common courtesies and ethics are seldom practiced much less taught. Thank you for the reminder that a “Thank you”, a smile, and G-rated language are always appropriate – and appreciated.

This book demonstrates that authors, even multi-published ones, can always improve their craft and increase their knowledge. While the chapters are short, they contain valuable information on increasing sales and enlarging our audience. I was also inspired by reading other authors' journey of how they began, approach their work and remain motivated. I particularly liked Ruth Snyder's advice to "AIM" before you write. The insight gained from this book can help others "aim" to be better writers. I plan to return to this book for inspiratin and instruction.

As a writer, I’m always curious about how other writers write. This book not only introduces these writers, it covers everything from their first words on paper to the joy of publishing and the task of marketing.
