Roman Holiday: A Twisty Tale of Love and Deceit (The Fitzgerald Family Series Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 84 ratings

If everything you believed about your past turns out to be a lie, hidden by malice and greed, how can you trust again? And more importantly, who?

Caro Fitzgerald loves her son, her family and her work, in that order. What she doesn’t love is keeping secrets from those who matter most, particularly her teenage son. A decision to take a temporary posting as a History of Irish Art lecturer in Rome may hopefully change that. Her boy deserves to know the truth of what happened 14 years ago, and for that matter, so does she. And though he turns out to be a delightful diversion, she doesn’t need a handsome Italian getting in her way.

Toby needs his dad. His mum is the best of all mothers alive – that’s a given, but he
needs more. Rome is as good a place as any – even he knows his chocolate coloured eyes and flair for Italian aren’t by chance.

Nick Sullivan is frustrated. Moving to Rome was supposed to be temporary and yet, here he was, living and breathing hotel manager life. When a one-night-stand upends his life in the most unexpected of ways, fortune and fate lend a hand and throw him onto an emotional rollercoaster ride. Life suddenly gets a lot more involved, complicated, and dangerous.

Humorous and with dark twists, this Fitzgerald Family Saga will be sure to entertain! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Pamela G Hobbs is an Adult Education Tutor by day and voracious reader and writer by night. She grew up and presently lives in Ireland but spent 12 years in the United States, on both coasts where her love for romance and suspense novels was first nurtured.

The mother of two grown sons and the minder of a rather ancient three legged cat, she and her landscape gardener husband enjoy reasonably fine wine, fine food (mostly cooked by aforementioned husband) and fine weather - well the last bit isn't really true - the weather in Ireland is rarely fine.

Being a winner in the 2015 Novel Fair gave Pamela a great boost in her writing career - "so nice to know people (judges, even!) who you have never met, like what you write!"

Other than painting (her original degree is in Art) Pamela's hobbies include reading and ....no that's it - just reading :-)

Hobbs does it again! The 2nd in the series is even better than the 1st. Set in romantic Italy, the author has definitely done her homework The places and characters ring true. Great plot twists entwined with a beautiful love story that grips the reader until the suspenseful conclusion. Can’t wait for the next Fitzgerald series book. Bravo!

From the moment you start reading to the very end, the author keeps you turning the pages. Caro Fitzgerald is back in Rome, the city where she fell in love. I felt like I was walking the streets and sitting at cafe's. Her purpose is twofold. Teaching that art can be influenced by many people. The other is to find her son's father. Nick Sullivan has come to Rome to help his family put their hotel business back on track. He is an architect by trade but when family calls, you step up. Little did they know that an accidental meeting will set them on the road to passion and distrust. I loved reading about the Fitzgerald's again. As you will find out, mess with one, you mess with all of them. Don't underestimate the Sullivan's or the DeLuca's either. I loved the ending. Finding true love is the best gift ever.

I received an advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Pamela Hobbs does a nice job with The FitzGerald Series. Amazon compares her to Nora Roberts--but I think her books are more like Barbara Michaels'. And she does a nice job of adding atmosphere and describing Ireland and Rome. I will definitely read all her books! I usually skip over the 'hot' scenes in books--but I appreciate that she writes a great sex scene--not the usual "When Harry Met Sally" fake orgasm scenes with very limited vocabulary. If you like Outlander for the sex scenes, then you will love this writer too.

Thoroughly enjoyed this read. Whipped through it as I couldn't put it down. Could see the plot twists coming but enjoyed them none the less. Loved the descriptions of Italy and revisiting the Fitzgerald family.

I liked the storyline; it was full of intrigue and really interesting characters. The Dublin Fitzgeralds, the New York Sullivan's and Roman di Luca's are all quite interesting families with strong, loving kind members all combined. Caro travels to Rome to lecture on art history and the Roman influence on modern Irish Art. She meets sexy Nick Sullivan and beore she knows it, the pair have passed the point of casual fling to budding seriousness. Toby, Caro's son travels to Italy to be with her and in the process meets long lost family members. From there the intrigue builds and culminates in shrouded mystery and greed. It's a story easy to get lost in.

If I had to lose one thing, however, it would be the sex scenes.I found them to be a little too much for my own personal liking; it was a mixture of soft porn and Harlequin type romance all mixed together. I found they detracted from the actual character development and the storyline itself, and I think that Pamela Hobbs characters have enough appeal on their own - but that is just a personal observation.

I am glad for the opportunity to read and review this title. It is worth a read if you like romance, travel, and mystery.

Loved the closeness of Caro and Toby and how that changes with news. The suspense was great. Nick and his caring for others.
