Christian Marriage: Devotionals From Both Perspectives (Christian Devotional Collaborations) Kindle Edition
Marriage is designed by God, it’s His idea, and it is for good.
Have you ever seen those marriages that seem to just have everything together? It’s clear that God is in the center of it, and that He put those people together. Well, this book is NOT full of those. God may have formed the unions, as only He can, but these are stories of REAL marriages, problems, and God-given solutions. One day, you’ll have that marriage everyone envies, but you’ll also have a story of God’s faithfulness to use that marriage for good.
We need all the help we can get, so I asked my author and married friends for their stories, seeking out the BEST advice they had for cultivating strong, enduring marriages centered on Christ. Some of these devos are from “equally yoked” marriages. Some are from believers married to non-believers, and some are from married couples who found God together along the way.
Made up of real stories from real people about a real God, these devotionals are based in Biblical truth and will encourage, edify, and inspire marriages of all ages and stages.
Learn how God impacted the marriages of these 27+ writers and authors. Discover how God helped them in their marriages and how these truths can help your marriage!

His degrees in math and english, vocational certificates, self-taught musicianship, and woodworking deepen his storytelling and ability to connect with anyone.

My name is Dvora Elisheva (Hebrew for Deborah Elizabeth, my given first and middle names). I am an author, encourager, Bible teacher, and much more!
Quite active in my community in Israel, I have taught English using the Bible as a textbook in a local Chinese church since 1993, and have been preaching there once a month since 2013; sing on the worship team of my Messianic congregation; and am a board member of the non-profit organization, A Future and A Hope (afutureandahope.org.il).
If you are interested in my other artistic endeavors, I’ve published a song about the Western Wall of Jerusalem on YouTube (https://youtu.be/IOV98_rSBGk) and published a short book of poetry from my first year in Israel, also available on Amazon: The Adventures of Sydney (http://amzn.to/1L56QiA).
For those who are interested in my "professional qualifications", here is a bit of information about my background. I became a licensed practical nurse in 1976, with special training in medications and reading ECGs/EKGs. I subsequently worked in a critical care unit, nursing homes, and as a private duty nurse -- all in the USA. After moving to Israel in 1982 I worked as a nurse, first volunteering as a home care nurse, and later working in a home for the mentally handicapped children, and in a hospital in internal medicine. Feeling burnt out from the stress of nursing (but not from helping people), amazing doors opened for me to become a scientific and medical editor and writer in 1984. I pursued a BA in Special Education from the University of Brighton (1998) and an MA (with Distinction) in Technical Authorship, from Sheffield Hallam University (2002) -- both by distance learning. Since then I have worked for universities, hi-tech industry, and privately. Today I am the English Communications Coordinator for Rambam Health Care Campus in Northern Israel. I have received numerous awards for my work and have spoken at international professional conferences as well as for podcasts and webinars.
Having said all that, my passion for writing is actually people-focused. Whether writing my books, a devotional, or working on a scientific-medical manuscript, the reader, you, is foremost in my mind. Please subscribe to my blog to access a few treats just for you: https://www.Hope-Challenged.com. I'd love to hear from you!
My name is Becky. I have always known and loved the Lord. He has blessed me with wonderful friends and family. I find that sharing my faith comes easier through writing than conversation.
I love sitting on my porch with the morning sun or in the afternoon shade to spend time with the Lord. I’m learning as I write. I pray that you are finding time in His Word often and that these devotions are helpful.

Hi, I'm Jacqueline Pope and I have a God-given passion to serve women who have found themselves in cycles of relationships that have left them broken hearted or even that one failed relationship that just keeps eating away at the heart. My journey has led me to give a biblical compass to guide women through guarded paths to take and pitfalls to avoid in singleness and marriage. I am confident that this book will provoke you more than ever before to seek God for your mate and your marriage. My prayer is that as you read this book, your heart will be opened more than it has ever been to follow God's way, not just in relationships but in every aspect of your life.

I’m the wife of an atheist and mom of one very strong-willed, yet tender-hearted, little boy. After three years of walking around deeply wounded and grieving after my husband renounced his faith and walked away from the church, I am learning to ask hard questions, answer hard questions, and live a life of disciplined grace daily in the presence of the Lord. It is my hope to share with sisters in Christ the grace I have experienced, the hope that I cling to, and the joy I have found in life as a result.
Mimi Kroger began her life in Brooklyn, New York. The child of immigrant parents from Italy and Argentina, she lived the life of an American with old-world roots influencing her day-to-day life. At a young age, her family moved from New York to the beautiful mountains of Colorado. Her life took a dramatic turn in 1993 with a lupus diagnosis culminating in a kidney transplant 21 years later. Her relationship with Christ gave her the grace to fight, and as she became more intimately acquainted with the Holy Spirit, she began to heal. Health issues inspired her career as a group fitness instructor, nutrition guide, and personal trainer. Receiving healing has spurred on her calling further as an author, speaker, and behavior change specialist. She is compelled to bring life, health, and wholeness through what she has learned, both spiritually and professionally. Mimi enjoys being a mom to an amazing adult son, and she resides in Colorado with her wonderful husband and tenacious Yorkie named Hugs.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 5, 2024This book is unique in several ways but mostly because it draws views from a variety of authors, each bringing their own perspective, yet with a common theme on resolving difficulties in marriage - relying on God. This is clearly understandable since it is God who created the marriage institution in the first place and provided sufficient instructions as to how a healthy marriage should work. All of the writers spoke from experience and provided scriptural support to effectively get their message across to the reader. Helpful wisdom and advice is given throughout the book from all writers. Some of the writers demonstrated their views with suggested prayers and review questions which are very helpful.in applying lessons brought out in their devotions. This devotional is an excellent read and will make a wonder gift.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 24, 2024This book is all about how to improve your marriage and the chapters are written by various authors. However, a theme that several of the authors got across is that we shouldn’t focus on what’s wrong with our spouse but rather always remind ourselves of their good aspects and thank God for them. I found this tremendously helpful and I have found it has made a big difference in my attitude toward my wife. Of course, they talk about other helpful and important things that make for a good marriage that would take too long to get into here. It’s best if you buy the book if you’re interested in a godly, Christian marriage. I would definitely recommend this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 4, 2023KindleUnlimited review. This Devo Writers Collaboration book is the 6th of the series. I read book 5 but these anthology books by Michael Lacey (and other contributors) do not have to be read sequentially. Although this is a religious collection from various authors, some of the differing viewpoints are useful for non-Christians as well. all. The theology is not uniform but the love of Christ is consistent.
Part I Devo Writers contains multiple personal stories that will peek any reader’s interest. Michael Lacey begins by admitting he’s had a difficult 12-year marriage. It’s not preachy from a “my marriage is perfect” point if view but rather helpful from a “this is what I learned” perspective. Debby Sibert has a chapter specifically for both husbands and wives. Becky Sims and Angie Walthall both discusses datings, dreams of the wedding, and what follows. Maranda Chivers writes about stress eating, newlyweds, marital expectations. Dvora Elisheva examines the importance of trusting your spouse whereas Katie Arthur warns about pride and incompatible spouses.
Part II Other Faithful Spouses continues with itemized lists from what authors learned from years of marriage. There are even Facebook conversions that advocate spiritual advice. There is much more relationship advice (between children, husbands, and wives) in this section from additional authors and various perspectives. My favorite quote from this section is “Autopilot is great for airplanes, but it’s horrible for marriages.”
Although it is most interesting to Christians, it is a good read for all. The bible quote from first Corinthians chapter 13 verses 4-7 is applicable to all healthy marriages: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trttusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”
- Reviewed in the United States on July 6, 2023This book presents a collection of devotions from various writers, including some advice from mailing list and social media friends. Many of the devos are quite insightful, such as one devotion’s examination of various methods of communication during conflict, something I could have benefited from years ago as a young bride! Another writer presented an interesting plant analogy about how we can “water” our marriages to get the best growth. Yet another who is married to an atheist provided authentic encouragement to those who may be in the same situation. Overall, this is a worthwhile read for those who are either married or considering it!
I did notice a reference to an Enneagram study which many Christians have concerns about, including me. It was not promoted in any other way- the author only shared it as an additional resource.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 25, 2023Christian Marriage: Devotionals from Both Perspectives by a collaboration of Christian authors is timely, honest, practical, godly, and collectively, inspirational. There is something for everyone, in both wisdom and delivery, by those who are seasoned with life-experiences in marriage. Chapters are short devotions, importing pearls of wisdom concerning married life from different perspectives. Each devotion ends with a short, heartfelt prayer asking God for continued direction. Because these devotions have a Christian worldview of marriage, they collectively conclude that our personal equipping to live successfully as a life partner to another requires a God-centered transformation from within. Marriage is God's covenant, not a human contract, designed to stay the course for life. Revelations from each writer's experience ultimately conclude that a successful marriage relies on God's strength, love, forgiveness, perseverance, joy, faithfulness ... basically his power to shape us more into his likeness so we can better love our spouses, as he loves them. However, these lofty themes are also couched with relatable, every-day problems of married life, giving sensible advice to couples in the here and now. I highly recommend this book for any home library. This is a loving book. This is a healing book. This is a godly book with advice for married couples. Yet the wisdom conveyed in this book is also relevant for living a joyful, other-centered life pleasing to God, married or not.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must-Read Christian Marriage Guide
Many books exist on Christian marriage, but this one stands apart because it draws from people's real-life experiences. Written by individuals who have weathered decades of married life, this book shares their journey through turmoil and challenges, revealing how they overcame obstacles to fulfil God's purposes together. Brimming with profound insights, it delves into coping with difficult marriages, touching upon topics like forgiveness, communication, comparison, and transformation—guiding readers through the steps to overcome marital issues.
The comparison of a covenant and a contract is skillfully presented, emphasizing why marriage is a sacred covenant, not just a mere contract. Each piece of advice is rooted in biblical principles and accompanied by a heartfelt prayer. This book is a must-read, offering valuable wisdom and inspiration to anyone seeking to strengthen their marriage and deepen their faith.
