    Author Barbara Longley creates a warm love story.

    Singer Theresa Rhodes is famous all over the country, so when her husband is caught cheating and using drugs, she is almost overwhelmed by paparazzi. The personally shy star has to reappraise her life and decide if she wants to continue being in the glaring spotlight: what is the effect on her two young sons? Bandleader Caleb visits to beg her not to quit, spurring Theresa to begin writing songs to help exorcise some of her demons. The author’s portrayal of celebrity living is well done, especially showing the difficulty of trying to live a “normal” life while under a microscope. Author Barbara Longley creates a delightful love story to enjoy while also dealing with everyday living and stresses.

    I loved this story! The characters seemed so real to me, and their journey toward happily ever after was touching, realistic, and sigh-worthy. I especially enjoyed some of the secondary characters, like Theresa's bodyguard. He added a bit of humor and common sense. And Caleb's elderly neighbor Dottie was a total hoot! (Be the carrot, Caleb.) Dottie was so likable, wise, and funny! Theresa's two boys were really fun too. I've loved all of this author's books, and I'm so looking forward to the next book in the series! There were some teary moments, some very romantic moments, and funny moments, and many, many heartwarming scenes with a very satisfying HEA!

    This book did a great job of sharing how the trauma of an abusive relationship with an addict wears on the partner and results in unhealthy coping mechanisms such as food. The addict uses his years of manipulation to almost ruin her chance for a healthy relationship. Friends support make the difference in the healing. Music swirls through this love story beautifully.     Wow! MY TRUE NORTH is an outrageously spectacular book! This is the best second chance book I've ever read! From the first page to the last, I devoured every word and couldn't stop reading.

    Ms. Longley filled this book with characters I just wanted to hug along with a few that evoked strong feelings of dislike. Each character and the role they played were essential to the success of the story, and boy, oh boy, was this story a success!

    I appreciate Ms. Longley showing the importance of addressing one's mental health through the use of counseling and / or support groups throughout the book. Valuable help and strategies for emotional growth were obtained by those characters who availed themselves to these services.

    MY TRUE NORTH definitely strikes all the right chords and is worthy of more than five stars! This is an unforgettable read. Thank you, Ms. Longley!

    This book is about a woman who won a reality television singing competition only to have her marriage fall apart afterward. While dealing with her divorce, she comes to understand herself better and how to deal with all the trauma from her marriage and childhood. By her side is Caleb, her band director, who has some past trauma to deal with himself. He wants to be the friend she needs but ends up falling for her despite himself.

    I loved Theresa’s kids and the strides she makes to build a better life for them and herself. Caleb was also very sweet too. He’s the type of guy who cares about people. He supports Theresa when she’s going through a difficult time, and even when he realizes how much she means to him, he’s careful not to pressure her. Very endearing.
