- Reviewed in the United States on December 19, 2023The book moves along well. Lots of personal growth. I really liked the book. I liked the introspection and just the feel of the book.
People sometimes do the wrong thing for the right reasons, understanding that there will still be consequences and accepting them.
Things in our past often shape our present and future. For good or bad, our experiences change us. We wouldn’t be who we are without those experiences.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 3, 2024A thought provoking story. I was skeptical given the futuristic aspects of cryogenics. I was unexpectedly swept up.in the story from the beginning and actually ended reading it, in one afternoon, ending it in tears. It has been a long time since I have been so moved emotionally by characters such as these.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 21, 2023This book was a tough one. I had to force myself to keep reading the first few chapters; then it got better for a while (though I don't care for the sci-fi genre). When the ending finally came, it felt like it was written by someone else, and wasn't very good.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 23, 2024Finished in one day. I was glad Toby went to visit Nora. I wish I was the kink of person she was.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 29, 2022The idea of postponing parenthood by placing a newborn into cryo-stasis immediately caught my attention. I won't go into more detail to prevent spoilers. The book was a great read, and I found the author's handling of the subject matter to be neutral, especially given the current environment around abortion. The book wasn't written to address any of those issues. Enough of that discussion.
The story takes place in Austin, TX, my hometown. The main character works for a Postponement center and deals with all the ins and outs associated with it. She must juggle all the varying viewpoints daily while not only maintaining calm but also staying true to her own beliefs. This of course places her in a position where she must make an important decision. Will she choose the Company line, side with the parents, follow her own desire? And then what will be the results and fallout of her decision? I thoroughly enjoyed following the story and wondering what would happen next. If you enjoy a great story, I suggest this book. I am looking forward to reading more from Ms. Dresback.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 18, 2023Normally, I would not seek out a thriller to read but thought I would give this one a try. It was definitely another page turner from Diane and raised a lot of questions, something I wasn't really prepared for. Definitely an interesting concept...and...what if it was possible and available...how would you look at it morally? Good read...Gisele
- Reviewed in the United States on April 9, 2024I absolutely loved this book! It was engaging and I just couldn't put it down. I bet at some time in the future, the story told here may become a reality! Definitely worth the read!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 30, 2025The concept of this book was amazing. The details to postponement were great but the characters fell so flat. It jumped around too much between characters that really had no reason to have their own chapters and none of them had enough to make you connect with any of them. The pace was so slow. There were chapters and chapters of nothing, introducing character after character that played no real part to the overall plot, other than maybe to be a filler. This book had so much potential due to the concept but the writing, plot and character development just weren't there. I struggled to finish this but because I bought it, I felt obligated to, praying it would get better and it didn't. The only interesting part was when she finally confesses to her "crime". But, that was one chapter that could have seriously driven the whole book but didn't.

5.0 out of 5 stars could this be our future?
A very well written story which could so easily become part of humanity’s future. It is about parents deciding to have their babies removed from the womb before the actual birth date and then having them ‘kept on ice’ cryogenically frozen until they feel the time is right for them to become parents. Obviously this caused many different issues and this story follows the life of a woman called Nora who works at one of these facilities and how she becomes attached to one little boy in particular. Loved the ending! A great book!

3.0 out of 5 stars An interesting premise.
The premise was interesting and one I had not come across before. However, the book itself was badly written and the prose was clunky - who 'exits out of' a car'? .

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read
Wow this book had me hooked. The story line flowed nicely and held my interest from the first chapter to the last. Very often with books I find myself skipping all the boring mundane parts,i.e. What the characters ate for lunch etc.
This book had none of that I can honestly say I read it all, I laughed and I cried. This is one book i will keep and read again. A truly wonderful story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thankyou.
I am a mother of 7. I'm in my 40s and despite having alot of potential, I've spent my life making mistakes and punishing myself for them. My children are my life and my greatest achievements. My youngest, my precious son, Tyr, should be 3 in two weeks, but, medical mistakes took him from me at 14 weeks old. His death destroyed the life I had and forced me to relearn who I was. His story can be found under the hashtag justice for Tyr on fb. I am also a full time carer to my 21 year old who has multiple disabilities and is in a wheelchair, but, who loves life and is so innocent and happy. I loved this book, at first as a brilliant story... But the end.... It has hit me so hard. Resonated. It's given me a new direction and shown me how I move to my next stage of healing.
