About the author

Michael D. A. Clarke believes that by adding in his initials and speaking in the third-person, he may come across as a real writer. In reality, he's not quite sure if he is a real writer as he has only written a couple of books. I mean, he did write them - so, by definition he's definitely a real writer, right? The question should be, "Is he a good writer?" That's for you to decide. But take comfort in knowing that Michael D. A. Clarke has been writing words since he was just 5 years old and has written many words since then.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 31, 2024What a fun and unusual read. Thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely read more from this author. The way the stories are interwoven is very clever. The whole book is very clever. If you like dark humor this book is for you.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 14, 2024Easy reading piece with twist, turns, laughs a little gore and a devil may care devil. If you like evil conquering good conquering evil with a lot of tongue in cheek you will probably enjoyed this.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 23, 2023Satan is looking to retire so he can spend time with his sex-crazed girlfriend. We follow a few potential candidates through short stories that connect (it’s an anthology, it’s also a novel!) and their ultimate interview with the Devil.
There are lots of pop culture references in this book and highly relatable to our current society, but there is also hitler growing out new moustache styles. Going through the pages, you’ll chuckle, you’ll feel a sense of injustice for the characters and empathise with them, and you’ll also reflect on the toxic cultures that happen both in this book and in real life.
The Devil’s Replacement gets all my 5 stars. If you want to give horror a try or want something light to cleanse your palette this is just the book for you!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 1, 2023The author really knew what he was doing when he tied the individual short stories together to the main storyline. They all flow very nicely. This book was a page turner for me and I read it on my down time at work and it definitely was a good distraction from work. I can’t wait for the sequel to come out and read other books from this author :)

- Reviewed in the United States on June 8, 2023This book was so entertaining, I could not put it down! It managed to paint such horrific events in detail, yet has me giggling the whole time. I need more of Be-Be in my life, and truly hope a second installment is in the works.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 23, 2024I absolutely loved the way the author tied in all the short stories into a main story. I loved everything about this novel and truly hope to see more
- Reviewed in the United States on June 21, 2023When I read that this was a book of short stories, I assumed it would be just that. Various stories with each one being different, but that wasn't the case. I have never read a book where each short stories seemed more like chapters of an overall regular length book but each story carried on to the next one. It was done so well. Also the comedic bits throughout each story were amazing. This made the reading flow easier and kept me wanting to read more. Also, who doesn't want to read a story about Satan retiring and the first line was Hitler introducing himself to a group of people? Be-Be has to be my favorite character in this story. Her power powers of illusion was definitely the best one (especially when she was using it on Toby and Dan.) She also just seemed to be the least crazy out of the interviewees which is also not saying much haha. Overall an amazing easy to read book with hilarious parts that kept you engaged. Definitely a book you can read in one sitting, which is what I did.

5.0 out of 5 stars Was gripped throughout!
I absolutely loved this book! The author has written it in such a creative and tactical way. Every bit of it all gels together really well and it has the perfect balance of horror and dark humour. I was gripped from the start and by the end of each chapter, I wanted to know more!
There is a huge variety of different characters in this book but each and every one of them is so easy to envision. Some you will loathe, others you will empathise with and a few may just surprise you! It touches on some modern society issues and also has the perfect amount of description in it, really helping the reader to imagine the scene.
I have only recently started to make the time to read again and i am so glad that I started with this Author's books as they have awoke my passion and love for reading again!
I can't wait to start reading Part two of this sequel!

5.0 out of 5 stars I enjoyed it vastly
I'm not a fan of horror stories, but since I really liked Michael's first book, I gave this a try as well.
Short stories, yes, but linked together by characters appearing in different stories. Horror stories, yes, but they also have their funny moments.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious dark comedy
Omg this was an absolute bloody riot!!
It has some dark themes, but it’s more like a dark witty comedy. Some of the imagery in this is absolutely hilarious, but there’s also times of sorrow and has a lot of gore, if that’s not your thing.
A very unique book, I’m so glad I read this one lol!

5.0 out of 5 stars Well written
I've done some writing myself but I will say that Michael D. A. Clarke is a much better writer than me. I noticed his talent right away. The book comprises short stories that are all connected in one way or another. They come together at the end.
This book is an entertaining and excellent read! Highly recommend!.

4.0 out of 5 stars One Hell of a Read
A well written story that is equally dark and disturbing and fun and thought provoking.
