Della's Desire (Westward Home and Hearts Mail-Order Brides Book 36) Kindle Edition

4.7 out of 5 stars 184 ratings

Della Morrisey, a widow with two small children, needs a husband in the worst way. The bank is trying to put her ranch on the auction block. What man would take on all her problems? In desperation, she applies to the Westward Home and Hearts matrimonial agency to become a mail-order bride.
Eli Callahan intends to go west and claim a spread under the Homesteader’s Act, then find a wife. But when his employer catches his young wife with Eli in what looks like a compromising position, plans change. Although the wife has orchestrated the scene, Eli is fired and decides to find a mail-order bride. After discussing his situation with matchmaker Milly Crenshaw, he agrees to court Della while helping her save her ranch.
Della and Eli are as different as country and city, but they are instantly attracted to each other. Unfortunately, the townspeople are suspicious of Eli’s intentions. When his past troubles find him, bringing on suspicion and heartache, how can he convince Della of his love for her and her children?

I'm a retired Air Force (civilian) accountant living in Warner Robins, Georgia. My interests are varied. I enjoy reading and writing Christian historical romances and inspirational commentary, golf, sewing, crocheting, knitting, politics, history, science and mathematics. I attend church regularly, and God is the center of my life. I'm proud of the good job my daughter is doing rearing my three wonderful grandchildren. God and my family make up the inner circle of my life, but I want to reach out with understanding and love to others.

Losing her husband and about to lose her home Della sends for a husband through a MOB agency and thus meets Eli
As an accountant, Eli is just what Della needs in order to keep her home from repossession.
This is a cleanly written and fast paced nice story of settling the west during land grant era!

Eli desired a ranch of his own, out west, and a wife and family. Fate throws him a curve that change it all.
Della thought her husband had everything together and their ranch was doing well when he was accidentally killed, leaving her with 2 young children and a loan she hadn't known about. Now everything they'd built was in jeopardy and every single male wanted to marry her, in order to take control of her ranch.
She desires a man who will love her for herself, but can she ever trust a man?
Will a union of these two save them both?
Great story with endearing characters. Enjoy!

I enjoyed "Della's Desire". You know from the beginning that the trouble Eli has at the beginning will come back to haunt him at a later time. Just when Eli and Della are finding happiness together, his past does come back. Though I thought the situation was wrapped up too quickly and would have liked more details at the end, the story as a whole is entertaining and well written. Della and Eli are both characters that the reader can root for.

I enjoyed again the wonderful way in which the people were matched. The only thing I loved was how they both leaned on His for decision making.

Sometimes a situation or even several situations are of a suspicious nature. How to know what is true or not may have to be taken on faith as Eli and Delia find out.

I enjoyed the book! Della was not sure about marrying Eli. Her two children were adorable and loved Eli as soon as they met him. This book is part of the Westward Home and Hearts series but it is a standalone book. I recommend reading this book!

Liked this book as much as the first one I read by Elaine Manders. This was a different and refreshing take on western tales . Want more by this author.
