A Blazing Truth: A Modern Catholic Novel: Book 3 (A Modern Catholic Trilogy) Kindle Edition

4.7 out of 5 stars 85 ratings

By the #1 bestselling author of A Truthful Man and A Divine Truth.

Three men face impossible choices: the cost of defending the Truth is high, but not defending it will cost them everything.

Bishop Marsden’s superiors at the Vatican are pleased with his ruthless removal of traditional priests, and he’s about to reap his reward by being installed as the next archbishop.

However, his conscience is rebuking him severely for sacrificing good shepherds of the Church upon the altar of modernity. But if he reinstates them, he will lose his promotion.

Can he conquer his love of self for the good of God and his neighbour?

Mark’s barbaric behaviour crushed his wife, and now he longs to heal her wounds and restore their relationship. Yet he also betrayed Father James, which cost the priest his ministry and his income. Mark owes him every assistance in regaining them.

He faces an impossible choice: repair his marriage, or help the innocent priest whose vocation he destroyed? Which one is God calling him to choose?

Father James prays daily for God to restore him as pastor of St. Jude Church, but the bishop has blocked his appeal for reinstatement in Rome. There is little chance he will be successful in returning to his beloved parishioners, and each day it’s harder not to become discouraged and wonder if he truly was called to the priesthood.

What does God want from him, if he’s not meant to be a Catholic priest?

Horses captivated Hilary as a seven-year-old. Decades later, they still do. When her father replaced the family television with a book allowance for her and her brother, he was hoping they’d buy the classics. Hilary bought books on horses.

Every spare moment was spent in the attic, losing herself in the enchanting worlds of Ruby Ferguson’s Jill Books and the complete series of Flicka by Mary O’Hara, among others. She also purchased multiple tomes on horse care and obsessed about owning a pony.

Hilary also managed to almost fail English in school – somewhat unusual training for a future best selling author.

Happily, her childhood dreams were realized, and she has owned many horses. Her current equine soulmate, Cruz Bay, is a homebred Thoroughbred Welsh Cob cross. She competes with him in dressage and aspires to joining The Century Club one day, where the combined ages of horse and owner add up to one hundred!

Hilary’s Christian faith was growing at the same time as her riding skills improved and she rediscovered the ultimate goal: getting to Heaven. Her writing combines the beauty of horses with the truth of the Gospel and she hopes her books will encourage readers to join her in striving for that goal.

A note for readers of her Catholic books: The traditional Latin Mass is not available where she lives, so Hilary attends the Novus Ordo Mass at her local parish church, which is blessed with three holy priests who celebrate it with reverent devotion.

Its so hard when you have just finished the best three books I have read in a long time. Its hard enough to find good religious stories. This one had it all, I should say "all three".
I will.be on another long quest to find the next great religious novel, or mystery, ill settle for any genre!

Well written and encouraging depiction of what is happening in our Catholic Church. It feels grim, but God is overseeing this mess we’ve made and I believe in His Mercy.

I really enjoyed this trilogy. The author did a great job of developing the characters and telling a story that is all too true in the Catholic Church today: good, holy priests cancelled for adhering to the truths of the Magisterium that has created saints over 20 centuries, not caving to the Church’s hierarchy’s attempts to secularize Her. Unfortunately, I’ve seen the unjust cancellation of priests happen first-hand in my diocese, so this trilogy hit close to home.

As one progresses through each book, one sees instances of remorse, repentance, forgiveness, and deepened faith, flavored with great advice and solid Church teaching. I’m glad I came across this wonderful series!

This book has been well-written. Hilary Walker 's literary skill has helped her to create an excellent fictional story that demonstrates the actual truth about what is happening in real life.
Please read Books 1 and 2 . They give more insight into the grave injustices happening to good priests. Pray for our priests.

I'm not sure why I bought this book as it stayed in my Kindle library for awhile and I simply forgot what made me choose it. Then one day I decided to read it. Geez, I didn't want to put it down! Wow, does this kind of stuff really happen to Catholic priests? Rivalry for higher positions, getting kicked out of your church because you won't preach the way the Vatican wants you too, vicious lies to cause priests to lose their positions, priests working at a post office to make money for room and board, at a B&B, because the Vatican doesn't care how they survive once they are removed from their church? Wow! I would hope it's not true but I don't know one way or another. It's a good story though.

As a practicing Catholic, I applaud the authors factual catholic truth. Jesus is the only way to ever lasting life. But we must be faithful to that truth, even when it makes people uncomfortable. Bravo! A very good read!

This one is a fast-moving story. It contains a little scripture quoting, but mostly it's about fixing wrongs.

It shows that doing the right thing is not the same as doing the easy thing.
Listening to that still small voice isn't always easy.
    Honest prayer helps.
Having people you can trust helps.

This is a perspective that few are aware of. We should all read this and research for ourselves - what the condition of the church is - as well as the condition of our own souls.

Fast paced and ties everything together well.
