After her death, an unexpected opportunity leads him to the Crystal Rock Wounded Warrior Home, where he’s hired as a physical therapist.

Sparks fly when Mel and Steve meet, but Mel is not even close to being ready for a new relationship, so she keeps Steve at arm’s length, even when they’re working together.

After three long years, their mutual love of a young disabled boy named Ben brings them closer. And when they discover that Ben has lost his sponsor and will be unable to continue living at the residential facility, where he’s receiving the finest specialized care, they decide they need to come up with a solution so that Ben can continue to thrive.

But will they finally be able to stop their sparring and admit that the attraction that they’re fighting just might be love?

    Melinda McDaniel aka Mel is an RN with a promising career lay out in front of her. Her personal life is happy and moving the way she wants it to go until tragedy happens.
    Steve Ryder had to quit his dream job in the Navy due to his wife getting cancer and passing away. But his luck changes and things fall into place for a new job in a new town.
    Eventually Mel gets a job at the same place as Steve but they both butt heads very quick. Time will only tell how things work out between them.
    It was a good quick read that I could not put down. I had to know what happened. I know this is one of many in a line of books and I have not read any others but this book did not leave me feeling left out I had the information that I needed. It easily can be read as a standalone book. There are many characters that are very interesting and I could easily read books about them as well. I liked both Mel and Steve they were strong and hard workers.

    Steve was working as Luke's physical therapist when he first met Mel. She came to visit Luke to help him move forward after looking his best friend Hawk who was her fiancee. Steve yelled at them for smoking and he and Mel seemed to fight most of the time they where together. I was so happy to finally get to read their entire story and I loved getting to know little Ben.

    Having suffered devastating losses, Mel and Steve find a surprising connection whilst dealing with a wounded soldier who is battling through PTSD and the terrible wounds to his body. There is sorrow and tragedy in this novel but also some humor and lighter moments as Mel's bubbling personality comes to the fore. They also find accord whilst working with Ben and it is through him that they finally come to the realization that life can be beautiful again, bringing healing and mending their hearts. Although this novel is part of a series, it is a stand-alone and closes on a sweet note. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily post this review. This is my honest review.
