Spirit Sight: Volume Two (The Spirit Song Saga Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.8 out of 5 stars 13 ratings

"Spirit Sight is one of those fine novels that blends all of the elements of fantasy with the soul-searching, coming of age of the main character. Every page is full to the brim with external crises and internal realizations and truths. You won't be able to put this book down, and you also will never be able to forget it." –Kathie Giorgio, author of Hope Always Rises

Spirit Sight Vol 1 introduced readers to an epic fantasy adventure, full of magic, mystery, redemption, love and loss. In Spirit Sight Vol 2 the saga continues to its exciting conclusion.

It’s too late for the Empire to capture Minna Hunter before she finds her spirit guide, but she has much to learn, and now they know she’s coming. While Minna and Ulf feel love’s first tremulous breath, the Empire sets its trap.

Though Minna escapes, she’s alone and lost in the teeming Imperial capital. She must evade her pursuers and find a way to rescue her sister. Meanwhile, Alyn faces an impossible choice; become the Inquisition’s witch or die.

In an exciting climax, full of gaudy displays of spirit power, wrong turns, missed opportunities, and startling revelations, Minna shoulders the burdens of being her people’s savior.

Review

"A mystical journey, filled with discovery, forgiveness, tragedy, and triumph!" -JR Konkol, author of the Rebirth of the Fallen series

"Spirit Sight by Ross Hightower is a fantastic start to the trilogy. It fits the genre perfectly and is an engaging story; it grabbed me from the first page and held me there until the end." -Readers' Favorite

About the Author

Somehow, after spending most of his life in the South, Ross Hightower found himself living in Milwaukee and loving it. One cold, snowy morning, not too long ago, he woke with a story stuck in his head. That wasn't unusual, but what happened next was unprecedented. He wrote it down. That small story grew into his first novel, Spirit Sight. While he anxiously waits for its publication, Ross and Debby, his partner of 34 years, are hard at work on a prequel. Some might wonder why it took so long to find their calling in life, but Ross is just grateful he has.

Early in the second book of Ross Hightower’s enthralling Spirit Sight, the nimble, clever, and resourceful Aron asks the troubled inquisitor Harold penetrating questions: “What kind of man do you want to be? An inquisitor, plagued by doubt and guilt, who allows some girls to live and condemns others to an uncertain fate, or a man with the courage to stand up in the face of a great evil?”
This smart, thrilling novel is filled with tough choices. Hightower’s exploration of characters seeking redemption is nuanced and complicated. Even more than Harold, the troubled witch Regan lives with many bitter decisions even as she gropes for the greater good. Ultimately, Hightower’s gift for depicting lively, layered social interactions – with their accompanying awkward self-consciousness and guilt – elevate the novel.
Not that this intricately plotted work lacks action. The central prison scene that consumes much of the novel is an absolute stunner, with so many characters and storylines converging and entangling in ways that are simultaneously exciting, surprising, yet inevitable.
The spirituality that pervades Spirit Sight and Minna’s emergence as a beacon of hope serves as a soft mediative counterpoint to the swirling action. In the process, much is revealed and answered from the emerging questions of the first novel. This fantasy series is written by a sure, sophisticated hand. I can’t wait to see where it takes me next.

Minna has the weight of her world on her shoulders. She has much to learn but with the help of her friends and of course, her spirits, the young girl must find a way to save her sister without losing either of their lives. However, sacrifices must be made in order to break her sister out of the prison she's held in. Hightower paints a vivid picture of Minna's world and takes the reader on a journey of good and evil, spirits, magic and friendship.
