After the alien war devastated Earth, cyborg soldiers returned and awakened the cyborgs left in stasis to help rebuild. Axel Rex was one of those cyborgs.

He is in charge of demolishing ruins in Farringay to make way for a new interstellar starport. During his virtual life in stasis, he was educated and trained for war and love. Love in the form of one genetically compatible female and freedom at the end of service was their motivation to serve.

Love was the last thing on his mind when one stubborn female refused to leave a building set for demolition.
Layne Rose and her cat Sammy claimed a ruined apartment building as their home. No cyborg goon will make her give up her home, so Axel pulls her out, kicking and screaming. Retracting his armor face plate, he explains why she has to leave. Stunned to realize she is his genetic mate, he can’t deny her plea to go back for her cat.

Layne takes the opportunity to grab her cat and run. Axel intercepts her easily and convinces her to return to the barracks with him. This buys him time to figure out how best to tell her she is his mate.

Layne can’t deny the primal sexual attraction she feels for Axel. She is not sure she likes him, but she knows she won’t get a better offer. Could she love a cyborg? Could she love this cyborg?

    I’ve not read the previous books of this series but I was easily able to juno right into this one. Earth was almost invaded but the after effects have left the cities destroyed. But what saved Earth was the cyborgs we had created. Once we one they had a new agenda to help rebuild Earth for everyone. Axel and Layna are the two main characters in this sci-fi romance. Each cyborg dreams of finding that one female that is genetically perfect for them. But the odds aren’t good at finding them. The romance actually goes pretty smooth but add in a few twists and things become dangerous. But you can always count an Axel to protect his one.

    I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of the book.

    This book is not as good as the others in this series. It does cover the problems encountered with the gangers during the demolition required to build the space station, blows over the actual building of it, and takes them to their new town. A good portion of this book is sex scenes. As written, if the sex was removed this would be a short story. Could have been much better. It seems like the author was just in a hurry to get finished with the story.

    I read this book as an ARC and I really enjoyed the book. The story takes place on Earth in the distant future after a war that decimated the world. Cyborgs, who had fought in the war to defend Earth have been enlisted to help rebuild the cities and a Starport on Earth. In order to do so more Cyborgs are awakened and encouraged to rebuild with the chance of meeting their one true mate. Axel meets his mate Layna Rose while working to rebuild a city and a Starport and as they get to know each other love builds. While never smooth they work together and after some challenges get to their HEA. There are some great hot scenes in the book and I kept wanting to turn the page to see what happened with them next. A seriously good read.

    Axel Rex is now in charge of the cyborgs building the spaceport. Well clearing the area, they gather any survivors that they find and take them to the Enclave, a safe area for humans. Well doing this, they come across a female refusing to leave. Axel Rex drags her out and then realizes that she is his perfect match. With Sammy they head back to the barracks, so he can explain everything to her.

    Does she accept him? What happens with the other cyborgs? Who is Sammy.

    Read this great book and find out. I definitely recommend. It has a nice plot with a few twists thrown in.

    l have enjoyed reading this book it flows along and you don't realise that your halfway through it and then find you only have one chapter to go then it's the end.
