Hi, I’m Vicky Peplow!

I’m a proud North-Easterner with a big heart for my roots and a passion for storytelling. Born and raised in a charming old coal mining village in the North-east of England, my hometown has always been the soul of my writing. The warmth, grit, and character of the place are woven into every page of my books.

Life took me across the pond to Toms Brook, Virginia, USA, where I found my soulmate and, unexpectedly, my love for writing. What started as a creative spark quickly turned into a journey I never imagined. In just four years, I’ve been lucky enough to share my stories with readers around the world, and I’m deeply grateful for the connections I’ve made along the way.

When I’m not writing, you’ll find me indulging in a few of my other loves—graphic design, diving into a good book, or cheering on my favorite sports teams. My creative side has come in handy designing covers for my books, giving each one a personal touch that mirrors the stories inside.

I’m also an animal lover through and through. Our dachshund puppy, Dasher, who’s full of personality, and our cat, Leo, who rules the roost in his quiet, regal way, brightened my days.

My stories are a blend of heartfelt moments, relatable characters, and a dash of inspiration from the life I’ve lived and the places I’ve loved. If you’re looking for a story that feels like home, I’d be honored for you to give my books a try.

Thanks for taking a moment to get to know me—let’s stay connected!

A cute paranormal story that follows the passengers and crew before and after a plane crash in 1972. The author wove the non-fiction events of the plane crash and added paranormal elements to make a nice read in a twisted sort of way.
The medium paced storyline flow was fluid and the characters were presented well and believable. I did think the Derrick character would have been more curious about his grandfather's journals earlier to want to read them to learn more about his family. However, the author wrote te story her way and that it turned out fine in the end.
A nice short story for all ages to read on a rainy day curled up by the fire.

This is a nice paranormal story. It's something for those who like ghost stories but nothing too intense. I liked all the characters in the book, except for the dark entity of course. I am not sure why Chloe decided to stay at the cabin after things started happening and why she was the one who had to figure the mystery out. She did do both things. Overall the book was pleasant and an easy read.

Crash: A Paranormal Thriller by Vicki Peplow was a quick, entertaining read where I found myself liking the different take on two parallel stories merging into one, which kept me engaged. First, the story starts off with Sharon and Christian—two passengers aboard a plane with their son, Noah, who finds themselves in an emergency situation with that same plane. Flash forward fifty years later, and we are introduced to the characters Chloe and Austin, who happen to be haunted by the mysterious forces at play after they begin to find out what happened to that plane. As the book’s title suggests, there are some mysterious paranormal forces at play involving the past ill-fated flight of that plane. There are other characters involved, such as Derek, Krystal, and Chuck, who get themselves involved with Chloe’s investigation into what happened to that flight, with twists and turns along the way. Overall, it kept me entertained reading through it all to the very end.

So very nicely done. I love a good paranormal thriller. I love that the author gave readers a starting point at the beginning.

The added author notes at the ending was unexpected and I really enjoyed reading where the author came up with thie idea of this short story. It was neat knowing I can go Google this and find out more insight if I want to. Which I will. Lol.

So worth the read! I highly recommend this one.

This author never fails to tell a great story! I was drawn in from the very first page. Her characters are believable and I even love Milo, the dog. It’s a well rounded story with twists and turns as well as a great ending. I highly recommend “Crash.”

Likable characters, quick pacing in this fun creepy story with a clever dual timeline. I’m taking a star off because the author really needs much closer editing. The beginning has a couple getting their baby ready for travel while calling each other Babe and Baby continuously. I don’t think it was supposed to be cute. Lots of minor annoyances like that which a closer edit would have solved. The desperate mother simply noticing that all is okay – you notice that you need to dust. The creepy stuff didn’t build as well as it might, it pretty much pounced right off the bat.

I’m a huge fan of thrillers and supernatural tales, so I was excited to read Crash: A Paranormal Thriller by Vicky Peplow. The story begins with a plane crash in 1972. After this, we meet Chloe in the present day. Chloe is a widow who has brought her son to a lake house for a vacation, but ends up with a lot more than she bargained for after being pestered by spirits and possibly demonic entities related to the crash that occurred nearby. She meets a nice neighbor, Derek, who may or may not be who he claims to be, as well as a survivor of the crash.
For the most part, I really enjoyed Crash. Some of the dialogue and supernatural interactions seemed off, but I believe the author intended on keeping that aspect of the ghost lore light and amusing despite the tragic undercurrent. I read the author’s Ashes to Ashes and found there is to be a similar quality to the ghostly spirits, which I found completely unique to these sorts of stories and I appreciated it. Chloe, the story’s protagonist, doesn’t seem to be terribly smart since she takes forever to catch on to everything the reader already knows. Her parenting skills and willingness to leave her sweet son, Austin, alone with some random dude had me baffled, but I don’t fault the book for that because it’s perfectly realistic that this person would exist in the real world. This is a fun, cozy novella with some creepy and ghastly/ghostly moments. If you are a fan of the genre, you will not be disappointed.

I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it to fans of the paranormal thriller genre. I particularly enjoyed the way that the author explored the themes of grief, loss, and the power of the human spirit. This book was both chilling and heartwarming, and I found myself rooting for Chloe and Austin the whole way through. It is well-written and the characters are well-developed. Chloe is a strong and independent woman who is determined to protect her son from the dangers of the lake. Austin is a sensitive and intuitive boy who is able to communicate with the ghosts.

The plot is fast-paced and suspenseful. There are plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing until the very end.

I enjoyed the book, but I felt that some of the character's actions didn't make sense to me. It is well-written, but I would have liked to see a bit more originality in the plot.

Overall, this book enjoyable paranormal thriller. It is a great choice for fans of the genre who are looking for a book with a strong female protagonist and a satisfying ending.

If you're looking for a good paranormal thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat, I highly recommend this.

In my never-ending search for new books to read, I came across a paranormal thriller by multi-published author Vicky Peplow. The cover artwork and one word title (CRASH) drew me in. When I began reading, I enjoyed the straight-to-the-point writing style of the author. Very quickly, the characters and plot are made known and the adventure begins.
The story is centred on a strong single mother (Chloe) and her preschool son (Austin) vacationing at a remote cabin on a lake. Chloe begins to experience paranormal events and discovers an ominous link between the lake and a plane crash that occurred there 50 years ago.
The tension builds and as a few other characters are introduced, Chloe embarks on a mission to solve the mystery that is soon revealed. I enjoyed the mix of mystery and paranormal. There’s a bit of humor and also horror, but the main theme of the story canters on the power of family and the transcendence of love in the afterlife.

5.0 out of 5 stars A quick to read very good thriller

I borrowed this book thanks to my Kindle Unlimited subscription, and I read it on my tablet using the Kindle app.

We are presented with a horror story that focuses on a YA audience (or a little bit older) about a ghost story in a lake that follows a plane crash that occurred back in the day. Chloe gets a holiday cabin with her son, but quickly things get spooky as strange things start to occur. While other mothers would fly the area safely with their son, Chloe tries to investigate and understand all the things that are haunting the area.

With this quick-to-read book (less than 150 pages long), you'll get your correct dose of suspense and horror with a little bit of the paranormal too. If you like these kinds of books, this is a total go for you, and I heartily recommend it to you. I am sure you will enjoy it in the same way I did.

Original idea with the story swinging between the present and the past, and ghosts communicating with the living.

The story held my attention despite a lot of head-hopping between the characters. Most of the story is told from Chloé’s POV, so quite confusing when we’re suddenly in Jonathan’s POV at the moment he first appears to her when she’s drowning.

All in all, an enjoyable read.

I don't read many paranormal/ghost stories, but I was drawn in by the cover and the overview.
A lot is packed into this relatively short book and that is a credit to this new but accomplished author.
Following a tragic place crash in the early 70s, spirits stalk the lakeside - the setting for the crash - unable to settle in the afterlife. Their appearances shock and scare the living, but they have a purpose - unfinished business.
But what business would they have with a local writer and a mother and son who just happen to holiday they?
A ghostly tale with an eerie twist at the end. A good holiday read for me which kept my interest to the very end.

This is a mystery rather than a scary ghost story, though there are a few scenes some readers would find frightening. There are nice ghosts and nasty ghosts and a number of questions, all of which get answered. You begin to really feel for the main character. There are also some nice twists.
