In The Fields Of The Eagle Kindle Edition
In a time when the world is consumed by Nazi philosophy, one group of teens is willing to risk it all to oppose the rise of evil.
Klaus Volk is a young boy born on the day Adolf Hitler first tried to take over Germany in 1923. Growing up in 1930s Germany, Klaus watches as his own brother embraces beliefs he despises and his family is torn apart. His parents and friends inspire him to take it upon himself to fight to free Germany from Hitler's grasp, and he and his friends form an alliance to frustrate and irritate the rising fascist powers in their hometown of Munich. When the iron grip of the Third Reich tightens, they decide to flee to the countryside, and find new and inventive ways to stand for those who cannot stand for themselves. Klaus and his friends follow in the footsteps of the real Edelweiss Pirates, risking everything to save those they love.
Follow Klaus Volk's inspiring journey as he attempts to free his family, friends, and nation from the grips of madness. Similar to The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, if you enjoyed that book, you'll love this one.
NOTE: This book contains depictions of violence and Holocaust and pre-WWII German treatment of ethnic groups such as Jewish citizens, Romani, and Homosexuals, among others. While these acts are shown for the evil that they are, they may be unsettling for some readers.

About the author

Chad Lehrmann lives with his wife and two teenage daughters in College Station, Texas, where he teaches High School AP US and AP World History. Other than writing, his free time is spent woodworking, reading comics, collecting action figures, trying to get away to the mountains and hike, and hanging out with his family.
A fan of Young Adult Literature such as the Harry Potter and Percy Jackson Series, as well as the writing of Stephen King, Chad set out to begin creating series of stories that captured those styles while also trying to raise deeper questions about the growth of the characters as well as the readers. While Chad's primary area of writing has an action/horror/thriller bent, he also writes other short stories and plans to explore other genres in the years to come. You can check out more of his writing at his website.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 22, 2024This book gets deep into the brave, remarkable courage of the resistance that I am so fascinated with. A BRILLIANT story of loyal friends willing to fight for their country, family and each other.
A well written book that puts you there !!!!
Breathlessly running to escape the evil chasing you.
Crawling through wet-muddy fields to save yourself and friends. The deep sobbing sorrow of the horror brought on by a mad man.
An excellent read; WE MUST NEVER FORGET

- Reviewed in the United States on April 5, 2024This was a very easy book/story to read. Yes, there were some editing mistakes, but they did not detract from the story. I enjoyed the story; but there were a couple of places that an event/action was told, but it would have been better if there had been more description or delving into circumstances and/or results/consequences. I think this book was written for a young adult audience, but I am much older and enjoyed the read.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 9, 2024I devoured this book in one day. I laughed and cried as I read the tale of brave school children that took on the fight against Hitlers evil regime. How brother was turned against brother as one believed in Hitlers ideology and went on to become an SS soldier. A younger brother found himself fighting with the resistance against Germany’s murderous times. Their adventures lead to a brother being redeemed and finding his way back to his family before a the family was able to be united. I love the way the author pulls you right in to the story.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 12, 2023I'm an older adult who reads a lot of WW2 books, both fiction and nonfiction. This adds another slice of the picture. Content and vocabulary are both appropriate for students.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 24, 2024An interesting story of how young people resisted the Nazi during ww2. It was mentioned that the young people used pantyhose as a facial mask but that would not have been possible as pantyhose were not invented until 1959
- Reviewed in the United States on December 31, 2023Very entertaining, a little less graphic and specific than I like. Still, very worth the read.
