About the author

Have served as a Physician Assistant for more than twenty years; the last seventeen exclusively in urgent care or emergency department setting. My family is amazing at prioritizing time with me around my work, and I am so blessed to be the father of two grown sons and two young daughters. We are lucky to call the Dallas metroplex home. Please look for future works from me that will be coming out regarding the Christian walk series; as well as non religious novels of various focus. I regret that I have taken so long to get serious about my writing, but life is not over....I am doing it now. God bless and remember, if I can do it....so can you.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 15, 2023I just finished Our OK Angels by David Miller, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. This book tells the real-life experiences of David and his family during the unfortunate event of the intense snowstorm Uri in 2021. Having experienced Uri myself, I can testify to the heightened level of anxiety and feeling like your necessities, like heat and water, are put into jeopardy. That said, David tells his first-hand account with humor and witty observations that quickly dissolve much of your worry for the family. David and his family went through not only the snowstorm but also a car wreck; through it all, they counted their blessings and said their prayers to God. And, of course, these Oklahoma angels are wise and compassionate during the family’s struggles. I highly recommend this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 17, 2023Occasionally, I like to venture beyond my typical comfort zone of reading preferences and explore books in genres I don't usually gravitate toward. My latest literary excursion led me to David Miller's primer book, "Our OK Angels," which centers on a heartwarming slice-of-life narrative set against the backdrop of the 2021 winter storm Uri and the Snowmageddon in Oklahoma. Unlike many stories with suspenseful plot twists, this book is an uplifting account of the Miller family's experiences, akin to reading a heartfelt love letter that expresses gratitude to all those who supported them during their trying times.
The author's strong Christian perspective is transparent throughout the book, with Bible verses featured after each chapter. If this aspect concerns you, "Our OK Angels" may not align with your reading preferences. However, for readers who appreciate Christian literature or are open to accepting it as an integral part of the story's context, this heartwarming narrative might be an enjoyable choice for curling up with a book and cocoa as we draw closer to this year's snow season.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 28, 2023David and his wife, Miranda's anniversary weekend trip to a mountain resort takes an unexpected and dangerous turn. Little do they know, winter storm Uri, will soon unleash its fury and wreak unexpected havoc on their lives.
David Miller and his wife, their two daughters Katie and Sarah, and their two dogs, head off on a wonderful Valentine's weekend to Oden, Arkansas. From the family introduction to the SUV sliding off the slippery road and crashing into a snowy ravine, the story flowed. David reflects throughout the book on the adversities they faced. "There is so much in our lives we truly have limited control over. We comfort ourselves in the illusion of control." While stranded in the middle of nowhere in a snow storm with no cell coverage, Courtney Newson, a local farmer appears, bringing food and offering shelter. As David reflects, "God sent a loving angel to watch over us."
Our OK Angels is a touching story of faith and survival and how angels can suddenly appear in our lives when we most need them. The family's story is heartwarming, and David reflects on one of the most important aspects of their survival. The family formed a lasting bond and a renewal of faith, one they will never forget.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 10, 2023Thank you to David Miller for personally reaching out and asking me to review his book, "Our OK Angels." I received this book two and a half hours ago and could not put it down.
This book is a journey of faith from start to finish. It recounts a family's struggle during the 2021 snowmaggedon, focusing on their survival, spiritual development, and the unexpected kindness of strangers. David Miller's story is a mix of adventure and encouragement for anyone facing similar trials.
It becomes clear through this book that life's toughest storms, both in the literal and figurative sense, provide chances for deep spiritual revelation and growth. It shows that even in the bleakest times, the warmth of human kindness, often coming from surprising places, can bring light, reinforcing the connectedness of our human experiences and the strength found in selflessness. This faith-centered narrative powerfully reminds us that our most difficult times can surprisingly transform into moments where we cultivate gratitude, resilience, and a richer understanding of faith.
Although I am no longer a practicing Christian, I still believe in God and find this book worth reading for anyone. Thank you for sharing your testimony, David Miller.
"It is easy to become closer through smooth, non-challenging times; but that does not really indicate the true strength or depth of your family bond. Times of adversity and loss, times of pressure and hardships where you huddle close or have to stand back-to-back are true moments of growth."
- Reviewed in the United States on March 19, 2024I didn't know what to expect going into this book but by the end of it, I was floored. I can't imagine how the family felt throughout their ordeal but this story is awe-inspiring. This story is a testament to Most High's mercy and grace. Letting us know that we may not feel him at times, but he's always right there. From the time the Miller family left their home until the journey back, my eyes were glued to the page. Highly recommended read!

4.0 out of 5 stars This is a type of book which I read very rarely but it was a pleasant surprise
It's a description of a real event, and the author, his family, the type of accident , all this was very alien to my Central countryside brain. For me , this is a very American book, the weather and countryside are honest wild, rural, the distances vast...The description of the " angels " incredibly kind people who help the family is to me again the USA I know and love. I feel that we Europeans are less helpful, and more distant , reserved.
And then ther is the faith, the involvement of God in the lives of the family and their rescue.
This is a honest, not particularky literary book, like listening to a friend teling you about his accident.
Summary:
This is a simple book with sympathetic characters, completely alien to me, which is my loss.
