The Davenports EAT: A Green Hills Cookbook Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 3 ratings

Featuring recipes from Books 1–4 in the Green Hills Series of heartfelt and cozy, small-town romance comes a collection of comfort foods and sweet treats by bestselling author Virginia'dele Smith.

Whether it's Maree's homemade strawberry jam and her comforting chicken spaghetti in Grocery Girl, Maxwell and Janie Lyn's bread-making adventure from In the Trenches, the Davenport's tradition of Mexican food for Christmas in Three Times to Make Sure, or mega trays of Brookies from Fish & Spoon in Take a Chance on Love, readers have begged for a taste of the foods featured throughout the pages of Green Hills love stories.

Now, in her first Green Hills Cookbook, Smith — known in real life as occasional food-blogger Ashli Montgomery — shares her passion for creating family dinners and delicious desserts through the recipes she’s relied upon in her own kitchen for years.

The Davenports EAT includes a variety of dishes organized into seven categories:

Breakfast

Soups & Stews

Beef & Red Meat

White Meat & Fish

Veggies & Sides

Sweet Treats

Beverages

Each recipe comes with a personal snippet from the author explaining where the recipe comes from and why it appears in The Davenports miniseries.

Get your copy of The Davenports EAT to cook with the characters and share the novels' mouth-watering recipes with your true love!

Ashli Montgomery is a wife, a momma, and an author whose passion is sharing love stories, books, quilts, yoga, recipes, and all of her favorite things in life. She is quilting to mend the mind by spearheading and educating a community of friends who love quilts and quilting but hate Alzheimer’s disease through Quilt 2 End ALZ, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit she launched to use her quilting hobby as a platform to advocate for an end to Alzheimer's disease.

Ashli writes under the pen name Virginia’dele Smith to honor Syble Virginia Tidwell, Adele Gertrude Baylin, and Etta Jean Smith. These three cherished grandmothers were beautiful role models, teaching Ashli to love without judgment and to always put family first. Through Grandma Syble’s journals and appetite for books, through Momadele’s priceless cards and handwritten letters, and through many, many hours of visiting over fabric at Mema’s kitchen island, Ashli also learned to treasure words.

This cookbook contains some of the recipes that are mentioned throughout the series. It also includes the scenes that the recipes are mentioned in, where they truly came from and some additional information that can prove helpful for any recipe. Hopefully I can adjust some of them to fit our households dietary restrictions without losing the taste.

I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

The recipe for easy layered lasagna is tantalizing, and the apricot fried pies looks delicious! I love how each recipe has an adjoining description from its book. There are some delicious recipes here and I can't wait to use them!
