Banning Santa: A Political Holiday Romance (The Santa Trilogy Book 1) Kindle Edition
Nothing can ruin the magic of Christmas. Enter the U.S. House of Representatives.
Award-winning political fiction author Mikael Carlson spins an uplifting tale of romance, adventure, and political maneuvering that is part Hallmark Christmas movie, part House of Cards.
Banning Santa is a heartwarming story about setting aside political differences, finding love, and celebrating the spirit of Christmas. Will Stowe and Wyatt find the perfect jolly old St. Nick to rekindle the magic of the holiday, or has a jaded public had enough of the commercialization that sucks all the joy out of the season?
"Banning Santa takes readers on a rollercoaster ride, quickly gathering momentum to pull you into its captivating plot." -- Literary Titan ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The holidays should be a special time to enjoy with friends and family
This novel is not a partisan or ideological right vs. left slugfest. There is enough of that in the world already. Banning Santa is an inspirational story about defending beliefs, setting aside differences, falling in love, understanding mythology, and capturing the true meaning and spirit of Christmas. It is the perfect novel for anyone weary of holiday stress and could use a light romance novel to bring some Christmas cheer!
Santa Claus is not unlike Congress: They both hand out gifts, keep naughty and nice lists, and don't work most of the year. The only difference is people like Santa.
The holidays are here. Christmas parties are scheduled, and the egg nog and hot chocolate are flowing. It’s a time for family, merriment, and joy. But not for everyone. When an incident with an unruly mall Santa goes viral on social media, it presents an opportunity for an unknown politician to gain attention before the next election. Her plan? Schedule hearings on legislation that bans public depictions of Santa Claus.
Not wanting to see Christmas spoiled for millions of families, two representatives reach across the aisle in a bipartisan effort to kill the legislation before it gets traction. As party leadership applies pressure while jockeying for political positioning, the fate of the “Save Santa” effort hinges on one thing – finding the right Santa Claus to testify against the bill.
Legislative aides Wyatt Huffman and Stowe Bessette are entrusted to track down suitable Santa candidates to find the perfect one. The difficult task is complicated by one immutable fact: they despise each other. Forced to work together for the greater good, they must reconcile while embarking on an unexpected journey in a high-stakes, last-ditch effort to save Christmas.
"The narrative is crisp and descriptive, the dialog is easy to follow, and the plot is entirely captivating as it leads to a heartwarming ending. " -- Anne-Marie Reynolds for Readers’ Favorite ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
"Mikael Carlson has created an enduring story with a message that will stay with readers." -- Entrada Publishing Review ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Political Thriller Series That Are "Politics As Unusual"
The political underdog story we desperately need.
Michael Bennit is a former Green Beret turned history teacher who strives to inspire his students. After losing a bet to one of his classes, he is forced to do something he never imagined: run for political office..
Michael is a man of integrity and courage navigating a world that sees little of either. He's the perfect exemplar of what we should all demand from our leaders, and with a likable group of young staffers and close allies, they are a group you will root for until the very end.
The world is going to hell. In 2088, it arrives.
Corporations rose to power after misguided policies and fiscal mismanagement led to a global economic collapse that brought the world to its knees. Order was restored, but the people lost every ounce of personal freedom to do it.
With characters both heroic and deeply flawed, the divergence in perception is what makes this saga so compelling – the journey will challenge your biases and your view of modern society. If freedom is something to be cherished, why don’t more people stand to fight for it?
The ability to see someone's memories is a gift. To Watchtower, it's a weapon.
Eugene "Boston" Hollinger discovered that he has a gift - a traumatic brain injury has left him with the ability to tap into people's minds and see their memories. For Boston, it's an inconvenience he must learn to live with until he realizes that he can use it to uncover a dangerous mole selling our national secrets to the highest bidder.
Boston is the closest thing to a real-life superhero that exists. Imagine what you would do if you could close your eyes and experience another person's most traumatic memories. What could you uncover? What will Boston find along his journey?
The truth is only revealed when you pull back the blanket of lies.
Journalism in America is dead, but Tierra Campos is on a mission to reshape how news is presented. When a teenage gun control advocate is implicated in the school shooting that made him famous, she becomes a household name...and a target.
Tierra and Victoria are everything we want as modern heroines - intelligent, dedicated, confident, and honest. In a society where we see despicable behavior all around us, they bring with them a glimmer of hope that there are still good people out there.
If you're going through hell, you might as well dance through it.
Braden is a boring finance guy on the run from his ruthless employer. Lyla is an adventurous, free-spirited soul running from her own set of demons. Can these two find happiness together, or will their pasts rip them apart?
Enduring love is forged in fire, and these two are about to put that to the test. The trials and tribulations they face in The Dancing Life is only the beginning of their journey - one that will get more treacherous as the trilogy unfolds. Are they meant to be together, or are they the greatest set of star-crossed lovers since Romeo & Juliet?
Nothing can destroy the spirit of Christmas. Don't tell that to politicians.
Politics is the ultimate divisive subject in the modern age. It destroys families and relationships. Can two people with different political ideologies ever find happiness together?
The Santa Trilogy is a planned three-novel set that will explore the true magic and meaning of Christmas. A political thriller meets a romance novel where readers find the answer to an age-old question: which is more powerful, love or politics?

- Reviewed in the United States on January 6, 2024Attempt to ban public depictions of Santa Claus sends two congressional staffers scouring the globe for a "good", realistic Santa. Half the pair hates the other half. How can they, as polar political opposites, manage to work together? It's Christmas Magic!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 25, 2023there might just be such a thing as bad press after all - and there might just be a Santa
can romance survive media mayhem, politics and skepticism? throw in some painful history and relationships quirks
fun to read- and sometimes challenging for the characters to work through- off the wall romance- plus Santa!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 17, 2024I’ve always enjoyed this author’s work. This one adds to it. Kind of silly, but lots of fun.
And probably a bit of political reality
- Reviewed in the United States on December 25, 2023Take the time to read and escape all trials and tribulations of societal minutiae that wraps us up daily. A very pleasurable read for the holidays.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 9, 2023Wonderful! I could easily see this as a December classic on tv. Simple plot but very well imagined side stories.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 13, 2024This book is a multiple POV lighthearted and fun fluffy holiday romance. There’s a lot of humorous banter and I appreciated the plot line (a Congresswoman attempts to ban public displays of Santa Claus through legislation right before Christmas). It did feel a bit too “Hallmark” and predictable for me so I didn’t end up finishing it, but I think it’d make a great holiday romance read for those who find this genre to be more their style!
Thank you to #NetGalley, Warrington Publishing, and Mikael Carlson for the ARC!
