The iCongressman (The Michael Bennit Series Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 1,333 ratings

"Nobody gives a damn about politics, and we need to keep it that way."

From multiple award-winning and Amazon best-selling political fiction author Mikael Carlson comes the inspirational sequel to the acclaimed first book in the Michael Bennit Series that will change how you view politics.

"The Michael Bennit Series provides an excellent look at what most Americans are thinking today about the state of the government and offers a strong message to those ready and willing to heed it. This book is fantastic and explains why so many Americans feel as I do!" -- Melinda Hills for Readers' Favorite ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Michael Bennit Takes the Struggle to Washington!

Former teacher and soldier Michael Bennit is learning a lesson about modern politics when his idealism collides with reality. Despite being marginalized by his peers and subjected to numerous censures and reprimands, the now Congressman Bennit refuses to quit and leave his seat.

When fear over his legion of followers on social media forces the Washington elite to ratchet the pressure up ahead of the next election, the Speaker of the House launches an audacious plan to force Michael out of office ahead of the fall campaign season. Needing to take drastic action before being cast out of politics, Michael enlists the help of an old enemy, some new friends, and his former students to embark on an ambitious crusade to change the character of American politics and the balance of power in Washington.

"Engaging, informative, satirical, enlightening, and now, suspenseful. I am an arm-chair political geek, and what I enjoyed most with this Michael Bennit installment, is how I now look for "tells" when I watch and read anything about politics in mainstream and social media." -- Amazon Review ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

"Understand that this is fiction, which means that the author blames both sides equally for the mess that the fictional America finds itself in. That said, this is a good series where moderates triumph over big money, which is something most of us can get behind." -- Amazon Review ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

If you like House of Cards, you’ll enjoy reading how The Michael Bennit Series turns the American political process upside down when the little guy is pitted against the Washington elite set on destroying him to preserve their power in these political dramas.

Social media is everywhere today! It is a powerful tool, but are we too trusting of it? The Michael Bennit political thriller series examines that question in a fun and entertaining way.

America Inc Mikael Carlson

The world is going to hell. In 2088, it arrives.

Corporations rose to power after misguided policies and fiscal mismanagement led to a global economic collapse that brought the world to its knees. Order was restored, but the people lost every ounce of personal freedom to do it.

With characters both heroic and deeply flawed, the divergence in perception is what makes this saga so compelling – the journey will challenge your biases and your view of modern society. If freedom is something to be cherished, why don’t more people stand to fight for it?

The America, Inc. Saga will be a six-book set when completed.

Tierra Campos Mikael Carlson Politics As Unusual

The truth is only revealed when you pull back the blanket of lies.

Journalism in America is dead, but Tierra Campos is on a mission to reshape how news is presented. When a teenage gun control advocate is implicated in the school shooting that made him famous, she becomes a household name...and a target.

Tierra and Victoria are everything we want as modern heroines - intelligent, dedicated, confident, and honest. In a society where we see despicable behavior all around us, they bring with them a glimmer of hope that there are still good people out there.

Watchtower Thrillers Mikael Carlson Politics As Unusual

The ability to see someone's memories is a gift. To Watchtower, it's a weapon.

Eugene "Boston" Hollinger discovered that he has a gift - a traumatic brain injury has left him with the ability to tap into people's minds and see their memories. For Boston, it's an inconvenience he must learn to live with until he realizes that he can use it to take down the country's most dangerous foes.

Boston is the closest thing to a real-life superhero that exists. Imagine what you would do if you could close your eyes and experience another person's most traumatic memories. What could you uncover? What will Boston find along his journey?

The Santa Trilogy

Nothing can destroy the spirit of Christmas. Don't tell that to politicians.

Politics is the ultimate divisive subject in the modern age. It destroys families and relationships. Can two people with different political ideologies can ever find happiness together?

The Santa Trilogy is a planned three novel set that will explore the true magic and meaning of Christmas. A political thriller meets a romance novel where readers find the answer to an age old question: which is more powerful, love or politics?

The Dancing Trilogy

If you're going through hell, you might as well dance through it.

Braden is a boring finance guy on the run from his ruthless employer. Lyla is an adventurous, free-spirited soul running from her own set of demons. Can these two find happiness together, or will their pasts rip them apart?

Enduring love is forged in fire, and these two are about to put that to the test. The trials and tribulations they face in The Dancing Life is only the beginning of their journey - one that will get more treacherous as the trilogy unfolds. Are they meant to be together, or are they the greatest set of star-crossed lovers since Romeo & Juliet?

The Michael Bennit Series

The political underdog story we desperately need.

Michael Bennit is a former Green Beret turned history teacher who strives to inspire his students. After losing a bet to one of his classes, he is forced to do something he never imagined: run for political office.

Michael is a man of integrity and courage navigating a world that sees little of either. He's the perfect exemplar of what we should all demand from our leaders, and with a likable group of young staffers and close allies, they are a group you will root for until the very end.

The second installment of "The Michael Bennit Series," mixes history lessons, political intrigue, and hope to bring all the elements of a great novel. The author Mikael Carlson keeps the same twists and turns as the first novel.
The protagonist, Mikael Bennit, has to use his intelligence and instincts to navigate the political corruption of Congress. Unfortunately, too many politicians believe he doesn't belong there. When danger is near, he has to protect his career as well as the people he loves. There was a shocking conclusion that I never saw coming. I can't wait to read the third installment of the series.

Until recently, I would have labeled this book n work of political science fiction. Very entertaining but highly improbable. I do not see anything in Mr. Carlson’s background that bolsters his expertise on political matters or the workings of Congress, but this book is very prescient for having been written in 2014 (along with the other three books in the series). In a very compelling and entertaining way, he lays out a scenario for the emergence of an alternative to the current two party system in the form of a “caucus” of independent congressmen in the U.S. House of Representatives. (That’s where things stand at the end of this second book in the series and I have not yet read the successors.) In 2014, this would have been considered very fanciful. Post 2016, with the Trump/Biden eras and the prospects of a “lose-lose” election in 2024, many political “experts” are now speculating that, at least after the next election, a third party could well emerge. That’s not exactly what Mr. Carlson predicted but what he projects is rooted in the same frustration on the part of the public with a system where (in the main character's words) “[p]olicy outcomes are a secondary concern—the greatest desire of modern politicians is to make sure their side wins, and the other guys lose at all costs.” Don’t let these political musings scare you away from what might sound like a very dry read. It is not that at all. It moves very quickly, with very interesting and highly-believable characters and a clear plot line. What I especially appreciated, unlike so many other recent “political novels,” is a return to the kinds of books I grew up with that focused on political intrigue rather than cloak and dagger scenarios with an undercurrent of violence (though those can be fun as well).

The first two books have been very interesting…..as an American it shows me how broken our political system currently is and that we need to wake up and pay attention to what our elected officials are doing or perhaps NOT doing for those who put them in office. Moving on to book 3!

It was a very good sequel to the book iCandidate. I couldn’t put it down until I finished the whole book. The only thing that would have made it better would be better editing. I come from Texas, and we use the word Y’all to mean you all, not you will. I found the grammatical errors to be very distracting.

This book was a decent follow up to the first one, the iCandidate. I think the author did a good job of keeping the characters interesting in their lives moving forward. You can’t help but to care about what happens to all of them. I believe the author does a great job in capturing the angst of early professionals and a career that is not what they thought it would be. He certainly has a keen eye for how politics work – or do not work – in America right now

After finishing the 1st book in the series, I couldn't wait to read the next one. I initially got a sample and then got the book right away after. The 1st book ended with Mike losing the race, but the incumbent was arrested and convicted of a crime and that meant that a new election was required. This story starts with Mike taking the oath of office since he was the winner of the special election. The story goes on and shows the contempt that the members of Congress had the steps that they took to try and get him out of Congress. It told of how hard Mike's staff, prior students of his, and the lessons that had to learn to survive in their new roles.

The story ends with Mike winning reelection along with 75 other independent congressmen as well. This did not go over well with the establishment. This group of Independents would upset the existing order and a group of Leaders of the other parties attempted to introduce a measure that would force the new group to join one of the two existing parties. A vote was taken.

To discover what the vote result was, what Mike and another Independent from Texas did and the unexpected ending of this story, then you need to read this book.
