Political Thriller Series That Are "Politics As Unusual"
The world is going to hell. In 2088, it arrives.
Corporations rose to power after misguided policies and fiscal mismanagement led to a global economic collapse that brought the world to its knees. Order was restored, but the people lost every ounce of personal freedom to do it.
With characters both heroic and deeply flawed, the divergence in perception is what makes this saga so compelling – the journey will challenge your biases and your view of modern society. If freedom is something to be cherished, why don’t more people stand to fight for it?
The America, Inc. Saga will be a six-book set when completed.
The truth is only revealed when you pull back the blanket of lies.
Journalism in America is dead, but Tierra Campos is on a mission to reshape how news is presented. When a teenage gun control advocate is implicated in the school shooting that made him famous, she becomes a household name...and a target.
Tierra and Victoria are everything we want as modern heroines - intelligent, dedicated, confident, and honest. In a society where we see despicable behavior all around us, they bring with them a glimmer of hope that there are still good people out there.
The ability to see someone's memories is a gift. To Watchtower, it's a weapon.
Eugene "Boston" Hollinger discovered that he has a gift - a traumatic brain injury has left him with the ability to tap into people's minds and see their memories. For Boston, it's an inconvenience he must learn to live with until he realizes that he can use it to take down the country's most dangerous foes.
Boston is the closest thing to a real-life superhero that exists. Imagine what you would do if you could close your eyes and experience another person's most traumatic memories. What could you uncover? What will Boston find along his journey?
Nothing can destroy the spirit of Christmas. Don't tell that to politicians.
Politics is the ultimate divisive subject in the modern age. It destroys families and relationships. Can two people with different political ideologies can ever find happiness together?
The Santa Trilogy is a planned three novel set that will explore the true magic and meaning of Christmas. A political thriller meets a romance novel where readers find the answer to an age old question: which is more powerful, love or politics?
If you're going through hell, you might as well dance through it.
Braden is a boring finance guy on the run from his ruthless employer. Lyla is an adventurous, free-spirited soul running from her own set of demons. Can these two find happiness together, or will their pasts rip them apart?
Enduring love is forged in fire, and these two are about to put that to the test. The trials and tribulations they face in The Dancing Life is only the beginning of their journey - one that will get more treacherous as the trilogy unfolds. Are they meant to be together, or are they the greatest set of star-crossed lovers since Romeo & Juliet?
The political underdog story we desperately need.
Michael Bennit is a former Green Beret turned history teacher who strives to inspire his students. After losing a bet to one of his classes, he is forced to do something he never imagined: run for political office.
Michael is a man of integrity and courage navigating a world that sees little of either. He's the perfect exemplar of what we should all demand from our leaders, and with a likable group of young staffers and close allies, they are a group you will root for until the very end.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 31, 2024It's a terrific conclusion to a great four book series. No spoiler alert needed here, but I, as the cliché goes, couldn't stop reading. This has been the most non-political, political fiction I have ever read, making it an easy recommendation to anyone regardless of where you might stand on today's issues. It's thoroughly entertaining and thought-provoking as well.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 3, 2023....this were not fiction but reality. This book gives one hope in a world where political cynicism flourishes. Decent writing although much embellishment, it is entertaining and enlightening. I am the wiser for having read all four books in this series as they accurately reflect our times and give an insightful understanding of why we are where we are today.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 22, 2024I read all four books and they are all great! The idea seems very out there, but the books make it believable. I like that the author doesn’t take R or D sides. He goes after their weaknesses and stupidity fairly. There is some mystery, some love and lots of politics! Honestly a great series! It ended well.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2015Mr. Carlson has created a very successful final installment to the Michael Bennit series. The thing that stands out most in these stories is the character development. Even after the first three books I still find myself amazed with the way they maneuver in the political landscape, and uphill battles of the Washington "chess matches". I love how we have seen his students grow and blossom into independent and confident individuals, who have helped spread the gospel of Bennit (and his lessons).
It was bittersweet knowing that this is the final book in the series (or is it?). The sentiments and themes covered are many. But in true Bennit fashion the journey to accomplish his goals to battle new and old enemies and incite change in the political world that Mr. Carlson has created.
I believe that not only are these books a great read in general, but they touch on great issues to enlighten and inform the general population on some of the systematic hurdles that the modern political climate faces. They make these topics accessible and fun to read , but incite thought and interest to become more involved when using our right to vote.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 27, 2022This book iSeries one of the best, most interesting and exciting series I’ve ever read. It’s like being in college while at the same time, on the wild adventure along with the tremendous characters that live in the pages of this story of Americanism at its best! If you want an amazing experience, a lesson in integrity, courage, tenacity and honor, this series will give you more than you bargained for. And like me, you’ll enjoy every moment! I will be recommending it to everyone! WELL DONE!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 8, 20215 stars are not enough to award this insightful series that Mr Carlson has prepared for all of us who have been, and continue to be, part of this "experiment in democracy" that we had never considered experimental until we elected a pretender to preside over the most diverse and socially, economically, militarily advanced and unbreakable nation in the history of our planet...All of a sudden we wakened to a reality that the man who presided, the president of the USA! was someone who probably had never read nor even attempted to just read, let alone study, our constitution. Also, we were beginning to view both houses of our congress as more of an obstacle to serving our needs as representative of our states in cooperation and mutual collaboration with our judicial and executive branches\functions of our democratic republic--or our republican demosscracy. It seems as if bureaucratic and political goals of our chosen leaders have overtaken the desires, hopes, and needs of we the people...Mr Carlson has managed to provide through the characters of Michael Bennit and his high school students become competent, maturing congressional staffers, a comprehensive , well written scenario of a successful challenge to this incompetent, narcissistic, bureaucratic assault on our democratic processes through "divide and conquer"...Thank you, Mr Carlson. It is my hope that this important series serves to motivate our citizens to serve and struggle creatively as you have presented in this important series, with the goal of celebrating and continuing to UNITE the STRENGTH of OUR DIVERSITY...
- Reviewed in the United States on October 6, 2020I read all four books in the series in succession, so my thoughts may be tainted by that.
I enjoyed them all, as books about politics are among my favorites. Good characters, interesting plots and twists. Definitely made me wish there really was a guy like Michael Bennit in politics today.
One constructive comment, and this may have something to do with the fact that I read all four books in a row. There were some things that got pretty repetitive, to the point of being a little annoying: (a) The phrase "love of my life" was used a LOT, by multiple characters (Michael, Kylie, Chelsea)....started to feel like a romance novel. At least use some different words. (b) Chelsea is a redhead - we get it. And redheads are known for their temper - we get that too. But it was repeated throughout all four books, a LOT. (c) The primary female characters, Kylie and Chelsea....holy cow, they both had serious tempers - to the point of violence, references to "ending up in a casket" during arguments with their boyfriends, etc. The message was that these are strong women, but it seemed a little overdone.
All that being said, still really good books, highly recommended.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 8, 2024Very intriguing. I was a small town party chairman. So much is so true. Just wish I was a smart as Michael. Waiting for book #5!
